Pride sponsor of Chinese cycling!
Yet again we have been relegated into the continental division. The owners have stated that they will not be as restrictive as before when it comes to nationality focus and we might therefore see big changes in rider recruiting in this transfer window. This is just one of the changes that will be implemented by the board in order to let the team become more competitive and succesfull.
However, if Bjartne fails to get Compal-Merida promoted again in 2018, he might have to search for new sponsors in front of the 2019-season, so there's definately some pressure to perform in CT this year.
A big shout out to our designer Bikex for creating these stunning jerseys!

Best of luck. Looking at your team, you should definitely be capable of bouncing straight back up to the PCT. You can't keep everyone of course due to the much lower wage cap, but you have enough depth in certain departments to not be punished too hard by it I think.
Less restrictive nationality focus should also help with the next PCT campaign if you manage to promote. Good move.

A stunning 15 riders did not get their contracts renewed this year, following the relegation to the Continental Division. We have also released all of our weakest chinese and taiwanese talents in order to get more competitive in the coming season.
That leaves us with possibly our best 6 riders from last year, where we sadly need to also let one or two of them leave in the transfers for us to get under the CT wage cap at the end of the window.
Give us a call in the transfer season if someone would be of interrest.
Our Australian delegation is for different reasons however not for sale.

Thee riders I may have wanted, all who stayed Best of luck trying to bounce back up, I know not all will stay but it's not a bad group of riders to work with, albeit small

Indeed you do need to let go some names, but well done and you'll still get a mega climbing squad to have us all shaking

That's certainly a strong core you've retained there that should give current CT managers quite a fright. It would be strange to see Choi contracted to a team that isn't yours however Interested to see who you'll bring in nonetheless!
Good luck bouncing back up this season, hope to ride alongside you lot again next year

Compal-Merida is pleased to announce their final roster prior to the 2018 CT-season. This year marks a new era for the Compal team, as the Asian nationality focus has vanished. The sponsors have had enough of switching between CT and PCT every second year and are now looking and aiming for nothing less than back to back promotions.
Our two big signings Jaime Suaza and Tommy Zaini will obviously become our new leaders, alongside Michael Matthews, which surprisingly enough is the only rider left from the original Compal-team.
Fellow Colombians Atapuma and Henao are brought in especially to let Suaza thrive even more up the mountains, and we believe this trio will be dangerous assets in the CT mountains.
The rest of the squad are made up by different european riders, and some sources close to the Compal-community strongly argue that an investor from a major European cycling country wants to take over the team from next season. No one around the Compal-Merida team have been willing to comment or confirm this rumor.
Time will tell, but first they'll need to fight for promotion to the PCT-division.

Interested to see how Zaini rides. CT should be the right level for him to be a leader and possibly dominate.

It's still disappointing to see you had to let Choi go, but you've managed to reinvest his wage wisely to build a very strong squad that should be among the favourites for promotion.
The addition of Schurter as a helper was a little surprising to see as nearing the end of transfers I thought about trying to bring him back to find him already taken. I hope he goes well for you in his last year before decline and that he can either get in a few breaks or provide valuable support for Zaini/ Suaza when called upon.

Still gutted I let Haavardsholm go but it was the right thing to do. He'll tear up CT for you next season!

Atapuma
Glad to see after your selling spree during transfers that you've put together a pretty good squad. With Zaini, Atapuma and Claerebout you've also got 3 former Indosat riders (not that I needed anymore of a reason to follow your team ). Really looking forward to seeing what you can do with this team, and hope to see you back up in PCT for next season.

Quite a rebuild you've made here. A couple of dark horse laders who can go either way but a good broad base for scoring on multiple terrains.
