Aker - MOT will continue with the same sponsors in 2019, despite two challenging seasons, as both 2017 and 2018 were bumpy at best. The team admittedly didn't score the results they hoped for in most of the season.
The team started up back in 2012 and promoted from the continental scene already on the first try. 2013 saw the team's Pro Tour debut, and led by Norwegian star Edvald Boasson Hagen we ended 10th overall. That was followed up with an 8th place in 2014, before both 2015 and 2016 resulted in 4th places in the team rankings. The sponsors have noticed our good results over the years, and it didn't take long for them to agree to another year, for 2017. We're very happy to see them extend their sponsor contracts for another year, being with us also now that the going has gotten a lot tougher.
In 2018, hopes and ambitions were big going into the season, with several leaders for different terrains and races, but it wasn't meant to be. Most of the season was a disappointment in terms of result, but a strong showing in one of the final races, Tour de Maroc, saw the team climb to a ranking spot safe from relegation.
2019 and 2020 were decent years, and in 2020 we even won our first Grand Tour ever with Rein Taaramäe. He continued winning a Grand Tour in 2021, though, the rest of our season was lacking, and we relegated. In 2021 we raced through the PCT and got back up to the Pro Tour, where we finished 4th in 2022.
The 2023 will forever be one of the most memorable seasons whatever the future for the team, as we went on to win the Pro Tour Division, going from strength to strength from early season until the very end.
MOT is an organization working for the youth in Norway. For example they co-operate with approximately 300 schools in Norway, working for a better environment for the pupils, and amongst other things trying to minimalize bullying and drug use.

It's with embarassement we look back at our HQ for the last couple of seasons. We've failed both our fans and our sponsors as our activity, or rather lack of activity in our own HQ has been close to non-existent during the season when the racing have started.
This season, we promise to do better. Team manager ember has stated he'll follow our riders closely over the season, working on both HQ updates related to races, but also giving the fans what they deserve before and during the transfer season. Below you can read another comment made on this case from team manager ember.
In the past we have seen the journalist Per Mandagsfjord do some articles on our team, but we must admit that the press coverage we've got has not been satisfying, and we hope this will help to make people recognize our team. But also, and this is the most important thing, our fans deserve to get updates and have an easier time following the team and the riders within it. Hopefully this step should help them, and we're looking forward to get them closer to our team. We will be back with more information as the days fly by and we're allowed to inform you of how renewals went and what goals the team has made for the upcoming season. |

Aker - MOT After Renewals
Some accepted in the first round, others went all the way and negotiated their wage for three full meetings, but we can't hide that we're satisfied with how renewals went.
We have also got some room looking at the wage budget for the upcoming transfer season, especially as we're determined to follow the plans that have been made for this transfer season.
All riders wages are presented below. There will be more information on their transfer status ahead of the transfer season tomorrow evening.
However, we must also say a big thank you and express our gratitude to Lars Petter Nordhaug. The 33 years old has been with the team since we started as Aker Solutions - Bergans back in 2012, but both Lars Petter and us thought this was the time to move on.
It goes without saying he'll have a special place in the team's history, being the first ever Norwegian rider to win a stage or a race for us. We hope he'll be able to find a team to represent also in 2017, and hopefully he can give them something to cheer about, just like he has done for us over the past years.

Shame to see Nordhaug leave. While I wasn't active back then, I remember you telling me about his rather amazing season (or was it just the one race ) before I joined. Looks like you came safely through renewals, good luck for the upcoming transfer season!

Haha, definitely not the whole season. It was the stage win in Burgos and then a 2nd place in the flat, but kind of hilly, classics race Cape Argus Cycle Tour, where he punched well above his weight being tactically brilliant. Still some great memories!
And thank you! Should be fun, as I've got no plans of keeping it quiet and calm for the upcoming couple of weeks of transfers |

Transfer News: The Boss Will Leave
There should be no doubts this season, and to not make room for unnecessary speculations, we have decided to make it clear to everyone that Edvald Boasson Hagen will leave our team, a project he has been part of since 2013.
Eddy The Boss winning Amstel Gold Race in 2013 after proving strongest and gapping everyone.
Last transfer season we thought we were forced to let him go to be able to keep the many young riders with rising wages in our team. Though, out of nowhere we got an amazing bid for Daniel Martin, allowing us to keep the world's best puncheur for another season.
But all good things come to an end, and this is where Edvald Boasson Hagen and we will part ways. There were talks towards the end of the 2016 season between the management, the sponsors and Boasson Hagen himself, and the management and the rider himself agreed that it could be great for his personal ambitions of finally winning a monument to change teams, as he clearly stagnated for the last couple of years in the classics, eventhough he has enjoyed great success in stage races.
Everyone following cycling will have seen that our captain and the team behind him have struggled to reproduce the performances which saw him win Amstel Gold Race, La Fleche Wallonne and the road race in the world championships in Stuttgart in 2013.
It's important for me to point out that we weren't forced to let him go this season. Looking at the contracts of our riders, we're well belowe the wage cap including Boasson Hagen. Though, it has been genuinly painful to see him miss out in monument after monument in our colours, and eventhough we will now compete against him, we can't hide the fact that we'll also continue to cheer for him. It has been four great seasons together with a lot of prestigous wins and experiences in the Pro Tour, team manager ember says.
Edvald Boasson Hagen becomes world champion in Stuttgart, just holding off the legend Damiano Cunego on the final meters.
Back in 2013, Edvald Boasson Hagen came incredibly close to pull of a historic treble in the Ardennes, as he won Amstel Gold Race and La Flèche Wallonne, before just missing out in Liege-Bastogne-Liege, ending second behind Trofimov. Since then, La Doyenne has always had a special place in his heart.
It's' true that I have never won a monument, but I think it can't be argued that I've established myself as one of the very best puncheurs in the peloton. I've also won some great classics and stage races with Aker - MOT, and I've truly enjoyed most of my time with the team, eventhough last year was very frustrating at times. Now I'm looking forward to a new challenge, and hopefully I'll be able to win La Doyenne one day in the future. Giro di Lombardia is obviously also a target, but for me it will always be about La Doyenne, Boasson Hagen explains.
Obviously, the fact that Boasson Hagen will leave the team opens up a whole world of opportunities when we're now looking to rebuild the team and prepare for a future without one of the greatest in the sport. Though, as it stands now, Boasson Hagen is the only rider who will leave the team during the transfer season, but nothing is set in stone regarding the other riders. The only thing that is certain regarding our transfer season, is that we'll sell Boasson Hagen to whatever team makes the offer we like the most. |

It was, and I wrote a couple of sentences on it as well in the text.
Was basically sure he had to leave last season to keep the talents, but then Dippofix came with a crazy offer for Martin out of the blue which allowed the planned Kristoff training and still cut enough of the wages to keep the talents and with room for EBH.
Difference this time is that there is no budget/money thing forcing him out, I just want to rebuild, as it's kind of boring to sit quiet, sign one or two FAs and do maybe one or two deals. For sure, 2017 could very well have been our best season in terms of points and rankings if I had wanted to keep EBH, but it's much more about the thrill of the game and the transfer season than the difference between 2nd, 5th, 15th or even relegation in the rankings.
At least that's how it works for me |

@SotD: Fair point! Good thing for him that this time there's only one thing that can force him to stay with the team, and that's if there is no interest and offers for his signature, which I must admit will surprise me greatly
@Knockout: Definitely looking forward to it as well. Will for sure keep an eye out for both talents and riders who are not PT leader material, but more than a domestique only. But also kind of difficult to have must have targets with such an approach, so we shall see. Only transfers will tell, I guess |
