I just read that all these classics won't be ridden unless the emergency goes down from 4 there in Belgium...

Yeah, of course the Belgian police has prioritize terrorism over guarding sporting events.

Race director says the race is automatically canceled at the highest level of terror threat (if that's still active tomorrow, that is).

Not going to happen, all police needed to guard the roads will be used elsewhere. With a bit of luck, we might get Ronde Van Vlaanderen, but I wouldn't get my hopes up, as it only requires more police.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Like i wasn't already pissed of by these fuckers blowing innocent people up, now the (in my opinion) best part of the season is perhaps cancelled
But i understand the decision if they decide to cancel. Lifes comes before bike races , just a shame, with the Cancellara vs Boonen in Vlaanderen. |

Maybe Cancellara will postpone his retirement till next season if this years classics calendar is severely disrupted. He could do a Wiggins and retire after Roubaix 2017. |

I hope he does, would be a shame if he didn't get to ride the classics again. |

Stupid terrorists. Couldn't wait until after the spring classics.

Nah, it is no risk at all, terrorists wont care about the race and rarely attack on similar places in succesion...

It's not a huge risk as such, it is not close to the terror attacks, but normally sport events are cancelled, under these circumstances.
But it's also a clear message from the organizers. "We won't stop living and enjoying our lives because of a few nutjobs". Obviously the police have also approved of this. |

Yes it's ballsy but I like it. The point of these terror attacks is to make the society feel scared and not enjoy our lives. Letting the race go ahead thats a big middle finger for these animals. |

I can only applaud that decision. At the moment, policemen are mass-volunteering to take extra shifts for free, so just maybe it can happen. If so, I would be really proud of my little country. The best way to fight back to these attacks is to show they can't harm us!

From what I've heard so far, I can only bow down to belgium. They have a huge spirit.
