The Baltic chain tour returns for its third edition, the race is primarily a sprinters tour, with 4 flat stages and time bonuses for the whole top ten, although the cobbled prologue could give sprinters who are good on the cobblestones an edge, even if it isn’t likely to see a cobble/time trial specialist take overall victory.
Favourites:
Rider | SP | ACC | CB | PRL | Rider | SP | ACC | CB | PRL | Ciolek | 83 | 79 | 60 | 61 | Croket | 79 | 71 | 70 | 67 | Avelino | 82 | 78 | 64 | 70 | Greipel | 79 | 76 | 65 | 73 | Nelson | 81 | 81 | 64 | 72 | Farrar | 79 | 77 | 71 | 70 | Ahlstrand | 81 | 80 | 66 | 72 | Krieger | 79 | 79 | 63 | 55 | Guillén | 81 | 82 | 61 | 56 | Soupe | 79 | 77 | 64 | 68 | Kip | 80 | 82 | 64 | 75 | Coquard | 79 | 81 | 56 | 77 | Granjel Cabrera | 80 | 77 | 58 | 71 | Manarelli | 79 | 79 | 61 | 57 | Castañeda | 80 | 79 | 55 | 73 | Aberasturi | 79 | 78 | 57 | 75 | Bouhanni | 80 | 77 | 59 | 55 | Stallaert | 79 | 76 | 77 | 58 | Vanoverschelde | 80 | 75 | 63 | 59 | Avila | 78 | 77 | 54 | 60 | Drapac | 80 | 79 | 64 | 60 | Rizza | 78 | 73 | 62 | 61 | Keukeleire | 80 | 79 | 71 | 58 | Van Poppel | 78 | 76 | 62 | 72 | Groenewegen | 80 | 79 | 59 | 70 | | | | | |
The best sprinter here is Ciolek but his lack of skills on cobblestones and in prologues could let him down. 2013 winner Avelino as well as Ahlstrand, Kip and Nelson all aren’t bad in prologues and Keukeleire isn’t bad on the cobbles, although his teammate Stallaert is the on best cobbles rider of the sprinters, it’s a really an open race here.

Hopefully Drucker's cobble ability or Chavanne Prologue Potential will net us a good result on the first stage. I'm not really sure which stat will be more prominent for the opening stage so I thought I'd bring both and hope for the best.

I know this is gonna bite me but.... I feel good about this race. I've got confidence in Nelson and genuine belief he'll do something special. Just yeah, this will be good for BLK and keep our survival hopes bubbling. No pressure then lads

It's a shame I can't be here but with all my home races placed in the HQ bands and this one in a unfitting band I had no choice but avoiding it.

Finally we're racing again. Time to start the final sprint.
I don't think Ciolek can blame 3 kilometres of time trialing for sucking here, especially with the F1 style bonus seconds format. He can't blame the opposition either looking at that table. I'm still optimistic he'll find ways to mess everything up though.
Last year's prologue was won by Steurs, so luckily my flat support squad mainly consists of my cobbles lineup anyway. A couple of minor GC placings thanks to a good opener would be very appreciated, but who knows how PCM14 treats that stage.

Anything could happen in this prologue, so I've got Cornu (who is also not half bad on cobbles) if the prologue stat matters most, as well as a host of cobbles guys if that is what counts for most.
I'm hoping that Keukeleire can consistently top ten here, as consistency has been his big strong point this season. That should hopefully be enough to put him in the top ten.

Groenewegen, Krieger, Sbaragli for the sprints, where I hope for some bonus seconds.
Boom, Schädlich, Dumoulin, Vanmarcke for the proogue as I have no idea, how much time can be gained there.
Strong squad, so expectations are high. |

I hope Ahlstrand will do great here with nice support by Vedel Kvist and Kreder but I have a feeling I will be Disappointed... |

Vaitkus in his home race. If he's as strong as some races last year he might attack from like 7/8 kms out on a stage and win, moving up the GC that way. Otherwise, breakaways with guys who are decent sprinters themselves?

We have Bouhanni, Bonnet, Reza and Anton Martin as well as Sanz, Fernandez and Vaugrenard. We should do pretty well here and to be honest we need to at this stage of the season in our current position.

C'mon team, if we want to get sponsors for next season some more results are needed.
Castañeda in his warm-up race for the ToA, where he should contest for multiple wins. Hopefully he takes a few top 10s here, at the very least, but after ridiculously being dropped in Melaka the form isn't good.
Thanks trekbmc, will you cover this race as well as you did for Austria?! |

Well, only here because we have to be. Maybe we can scrape some points through breakaway success... or who knows, maybe Croket will suprise.

Guillen here, so hard to have any expectations really.
A few top sprinters missing here, so who knows, he get another podium afterall.

I still remember how Avelino fared in the Eire Tour. However, since he's won this in '13 I'm going to be hpeful about this. I mean I have to, right?
Important battle for us with Ciolek riding for Puma. Thanks for the preview

Wow! Some wide gaps appearing on that stage. I did not expect differences to be bigger than 10'' or so.
Anyway with the time bonuses on the remaining stages it's still a race for the sprinters to lose. I just hope this doesn't interfere with the order of things in the teams' hierarchy.
Congratulations roturn, on that victory from Boom. Also nice stage addition, it looks like an interesting variation. Great report too trekbmc!

Great result by Drucker, just a shame Boom was 1 second faster meaning we couldn't get the stage and the first leaders jersey.
I guess he'll be wearing the points jersey tomorrow as Boom can't wear both so hopefully it should be easy to pick him out if he tries to sprint which I'm hoping he might seeing as I don't have my Malaysian sprinters here.
I'm guesing his high GC place will prevent us from going in the break now though which is a bit of a shame as I'm sure he'll tumble down the order once the bonus seconds start rolling in.

Had hoped for a better prologue by Kip but now let's see what he can do in the sprint stages. |
