Tour d'Andorra
This HC event certainly became the most important race for the premium climbers in the (P)CT: five stages packed with heavy climbs and challenging downhill adventures. Not much more to say, really. If you want yourself being remembered as one of the best climbers, you need to deliver here.
Like Domenico Pozzovivo (Kappa) did last year, where he went for a narrow and thrilling overall victory over Janez Brajkovic (Heineken) and Abal (Team CSC). Intxausti, Marquez, Abal and Pozzovivo as the first four stage-winners and yellow jersey-holders! Vladimir Karpets took the final stage out of a break then.
The Startlist
The Favorites Rider | MO | AC | | Rider | MO | AC | Machado | 84 | 72 | | Pantano Gómez | 79 | 68 | Contador | 82 | 70 | | Talansky | 79 | 63 | Intxausti | 82 | 70 | | Moschella | 79 | 62 | Sella | 81 | 76 | | Bennett | 78 | 73 | Rujano | 81 | 75 | | Rodrigues | 78 | 72 | Abal | 81 | 73 | | Panayotov | 78 | 72 | Keizer | 81 | 73 | | Aru | 78 | 70 | Brajkovic | 81 | 72 | | Lövkvist | 78 | 67 | Van den Broeck | 81 | 70 | | Stetina | 78 | 65 | Marquez | 80 | 80 | | Quintana | 78 | 64 | Eastman | 80 | 69 | | Hacecký | 77 | 75 | Nerz | 80 | 68 | | Garby | 77 | 68 | Krasnoperov | 80 | 61 | | Hirschlein | 77 | 59 | Valls | 79 | 72 | | Majka | 76 | 73 |
Pozzovivo ain't here, but both Brajkovic and Abal are. Surely amongst the top-favorites in this packed startlist. Also Marquez (last year's 4th) and Intxausti (5th) are coming back for more. Especially Intxausti really needs to finally turn his disappointing season into something worth the money RBC spent for him. This race is surely the perfect opportunity.
Best climbers are Machado and Contador though. For Machado, every mountain race is his race to loose - Contador though enjoys a stellar season with Bonsucro and should be considered as strong as Machado here.. Also Sella, Rujano, Keizer and Van den Broeck could do some damage.
The list ain't over, as we could also name Eastman or Nerz as possible contenders - at least for a Top-5 result. One thing is certain anyway: a few favorites will come short here. Thirteen 80+ climbers at the start. Have fun.

No.1
Next race where Keizer is going to try to deliver the first ever stage race win in history. Will be very hard against Machado, Contador, Sella, Brajkovic mainly I guess. So as in all mountain races top5 is a must. In especially with that ITT where I expect a mix of mountain and ITT stat.
Aru and Olivier are great support as always for Keizer I hope. Unfortunately behind this duo there is a bit of a gap as Pauwels, Clement, Boom are elsewhere I guess or my talents needed some exp.
Can`t wait for the reports. Profile wise one of the most exciting races all year. Let`s hope AI makes it one of the best as well. I fear the last stage might make some riders fail by some bad positionings on the 2nd or 3rd last climb. |

Top 5 goal. Will not make that for sure
After Suisse I do have some hopes for Krasnoperov doing decently, as well as Nepomnychsniy. Topchanyuk should try to make a few breaks and get our first win of the season, which has been taking for too long now.

Let's see what Rujano can do here. Must hope for a good result, top 10 would be very nice! |

I would bet a lot against that
Machado's race to lose, and Prio really need it too.
I'd love to see one of my climbers go for the KoM for once looking at how many of those jerseys the other promotion contenders racked up by now. Apart from that, just avoid stupid splits please.

Top 5 goal here. Should be doable. Machado really gotta underperform to lose this. Would be happy with a podium with Brajko in this field. Hopefully Inxtausi will step up and finally perform aswell. The same can be said over Pantano Goméz in my team..
Really wish I'd brought Antón here, he would surely been of more use than he was in Romandie or Catalunya..
Other than leaving Anton at home I brought a pretty strong squad here with plenty of dept. Bring it on!

Top 5 goal for Bonsucro as well. We are back after a terrible month. I like to think Contador will be fighting out the victory, but in his last two races he has fallen/punctured multiple times.
To be honest, I have a bad feeling about this one as well...
Hope I'm wrong! |

Felt like some time since we were part of races. Was waiting for this race. I think we have an top 5 goal here, so the pressure is on. Sella surely could achieve that but likely he'll disappoint again. |

One of few races for Lövkvist this season, but don't expect much from him in this packed list so let's try some breakaways/KoM. |

I'd really like to think Inxtausti will do something here but I just can't see him doing it I feel i've let him down with no helpers this year and that will hurt him again here. |

So I brought a large handful of climbers to this race, any result in the GC would be a shock, so it will key for us to be in breakaways frequently where we hopefully have the kind of riders to stay out in front in this kind of terrain. A KoM result would be nice.

Can't exactly say that my riders should be able to do anything, but 77-76-76-75 hopefully will make for atleast a few breakaway-attempts. Usually, though, my sucky climbers attack on the mountainstages, so I have no expectations.
The best PT rider in the pack is (based on stats) set to end 25th - I really think that there needs to be a tweak in terms of top MO stat next season. Perhaps also in the sprinters region, as I suspect that the only PT teams that actually get points in the HC (other than flukes) are the ones with a HI stat of 76/77 - I might be wrong though, but I really hope that in next season that PT teams can actually fight for a top 10, which is happening nowhere in terms of these mountainous races - Unfortunately.
Perhaps it could be something in terms of not yet developped MO riders can participate to 79/80MO, while fully developped riders can participate up to 78. Even if I had brought Lecuisinier here he would have seriously struggled to get a top 10 - just like he does in the PT.

Team, Nepomnyachsniy was our biggest hope here, and you make him drop on stage 1... Well done!
Krasnoperov looks decent, and to be honest, this race may well be the race that suits him best of everything on the calendar without hilly and flat shit, and 15th is something he hasn't done too often. Kononenko and Topchanyuk still with him is good too.

Nice one by Keizer.
A bit unlucky that there was no gap to the next. And so many riders within 1min. Had hoped for a bit bigger gaps but the first stage and all took it easy I guess.
The 2nd in GC now should mean Keizer being attentive. |

Wonderful break by Diniz - I still can't get over we picked up some points from a break!
Contador dropped by the Bulgarian, nothing major yet but if he isn't in the top 5 at the end of stage 3 consider us witch-cursed. |
