A Proper Professional
My name is Johnny Fitzpatrick. I have won the Tour and Vuelta. Thirteen Monuments. Various classifications of all kinds. I am an Ardennes superstar. A World Champ.
And quite possibly the most successful doper ever.
Spoiler This will be a story of Johnny's career, and the highly successful doping system he utilized. And it won't be played on PCM. I am going to make it all up in my head while trying to keep it realistic
I'd also really like to thank TMM, a real source of inspiration with his Karl Hammarling story

I suppose my story should start the moment I first got noticed on the world scene. I knew jack about doping, real doping, and so I was oblivious to what I would become.
I'm sure you know the story of how Mohoric won, etc, etc. But I bet none of you watched the first 50km
I attacked early in the race, and nearly got absolutely exhausted there and then. Eventually I learned to just suck the wheels.
I eventually managed to get in a break of 8, and we worked well together over the hilly circuit, with the better punchers co-operating and taking turns up harder sections.
30km later the directeur sportif told me to go, as it became clear our escape was a sinking ship, as the Australian team became sick of being forced to chase, with such few in number and so far to go. They wanted a new break, and a less dangerous one it seemed, as one of our number ended up almost nabbing the victory with a frankly inhuman attack for a 17 year old later on.
Well I attacked, which nobody answered to, obviously none of them gave a shit.
26km later I was done, I slipped through the pack anonymously. I only found out later what my solo would do for my career.
I finished in the gruppetto, an anonymous ninety something.

After the race I returned to the crappy hotel the Canadian squad were staying in.
As I opened the door I found a letter waiting for me:
Hello Johnny,
After watching what you did in the race, we would like to express our congratulations on your solo, and more importantly, our interest in signing you to our Continental development team for 2013, with a view to the senior squad in coming years.
We would pay you an initial €250 a month plus bonuses. You would have a free role in our development team as well as potential leading roles.
This contract will last for two years, a certain one year in our development team and we will assess you at the end of 2013, but being realistic you will most likely move to the big league in 2015.

After making all the necessary phone calls and going to see the Canadian management, I checked in at the airport that night.
24 hours later, I had put pen to paper. I would ride with Astana Continental team in 2013!
