Today we got to Saint-Etienne, an often visited city for TdF. For 21st time a stage is going to finish here, latest 2008 winner was the German Markus Burghardt riding back then for Team Colombia beating Barredo in a 1vs1 situation after a breakaway.
Can John Degenkolb extend the german spree during this Tour de France and make it 2 in a row for Germans in Saint-Etienne? Kristoff and Coquard tend to disagree but they'll have to beat the headbanging German in the mass sprint.
Also a funny tweet from the Awesome Sep:

What a pity for Talansky, yesterday was amazing how he fought alone... |

Nice that you avoided Sagan as challenger for Degenkolb.
Kristoff, Degenkolb, Sagan, Coquard, Trentin and Bennati is my projected top5.
Also Garmin is stupid, it was only a torture for Talansky yesterday, so silly...

Why do you think Greipel will be dropped? The climbs aren't steep at all and I think he'll be able to hang with the peloton. |

Rui Costa seems to be suffering from Bronchitis, which is the reason he couldn't keep up yesterday. |

I think Kittel could defer to Degenkolb to have another easier day (possibly/maybe) and given how strong the former finished yesterday but I think Greipel could well be there at the end so I'll go for him.
Alternatively, to truly hedge my bets, I'll go for a German to win

Starting to fancy a bunch sprint here. As said the climbs aren't steep and guys like Kristoff, Greipel and Coquard could be in there in the finale. Depends on the group that gets away.
Could be a sign that the break won't be allowed off today.

Km 12: 20 seconds
At km 12, Sebastian Langeveld (Garmin-Sharp), Gregory Rast (Trek), Simon Clarke (Orica), David De La Cruz (NetApp) and Florian Vachon (Bretagne-Séché) have 20 seconds lead. |

Sounds like a top 6 to me
If Degenkolb is as good as he was yesterday, then I think he'll win, but I wouldn't discount Greipel, although he didn't stay in the group yesterday (presumably he realised the stage was too hard for him) he seems to be better at getting over the hills recently.

Degenkolb and Giant Shimano must be feeling up for this given how many men they have dedicated to the front of the peloton to control the breakaway. 117km remaining and the gap is currently 3'33".

Crash De La Cruz and Langeveld
De La Cruz with either a dislocated shoulder or broken collerbone it seems
his tour is likely over.
edit: Abandon De La Cruz

That was possibly one of the worst times to have had a puncture, if the reports that De La Cruz' tire punctured during the corner are true. Langeveld probably considering himself lucky to also not have been significantly injured given his backwheel was suddenly taken out from nowhere.

Langeveld showed some bike handling there, keeping his balance while going down, losing momentum at the same time to prevent injuries. so not 100% luck

Breakaway obviously going to be on a tight leash today. Europcar to the fore helping Giant Shimano keep the breakaway in check for Bryan Coquard. 70km remaining and the gap is only about 2'20".

Hopefully they get them reeled in before the last climb and we see people attack. |

Cannondale, Omega and similar teams with punchy sprinters would surely like higher tempo up the last climb. I hope
