[PT/PCT/CT] Team Goals and Calendar 2014
SportingNonsense
Calendar

The full 2014 calendar can now be revealed, with this Excel file listing all races and a month by month calendar list: https://www.dropbox.com/s/rbgyrklewli...endar.xlsx

You can find the race profiles in the 2014 profiles forum: https://www.pcmdaily.com/forum/viewfor...rum_id=153
It is listed chronologically, although [C2] Circulo de Juarez is currently in the wrong position. Most races should have profiles in their thread by the end of the day - the exceptions being the Vuelta a Espana and a currently unknown C2 hill classic. Thanks to the various reporters who have helped to compile this race profiles forum over the past week or so.

Goals

Team Goals form a vital part of each team's season. In the short term, how hard goals you pick will determine your final budget - but in the longer term, how well you achieve those goals in the season will have a significant effect on your budget for the following season.

Note: This season the size of team budgets will be reduced. Salary cap remains the same, but the amount of additional money to use for transfer fees / training will be reduced.

Going for harder goals could reward you greatly if you achieve them, but will punish you if you fail them. Easier goals will be less punishing if you dont achieve them, but they are in turn less rewarding aswell.

For new CT teams, it obviously isnt easy to pick goals without knowing what your team will be - so now is the time to decide which races you want to focus on, and you can then target riders in the transfers season appropriately.

---

Each type of goal has a cost, and every team must select 5 goals. The total goal cost must be between 14 and 23. There are also certain constraints on what type of goal you can select.

ProTour
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/goalspt2012.png
All teams must have at least 1 Grand Tour goal
All teams must have at least 1 'Win' Goal - This means winning a classic or Stage Race outright (Including GTs and Monuments)
All teams must have a Team Standings Goal (This includes avoiding relegation)
No more than 1 goal per Grand Tour
No more than 1 Points/KoM Goal

ProContinental

Continental
i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/C2goals_zpsc2901350.jpg

ProContinental and Continental teams have the same goals rules to follow:
All teams must have at least 1 'Win' Goal - This means winning a classic or Stage Race outright
All teams must have at least 1 HC goal (HC for PCT, C2HC for CT)
All teams have at least 1 Team Standings Goal (It can be for Overall standings, or for a Regional Tour)
Teams cannot have more than 2 Standings Goals (Overall Team, Individual, or Regional)
No more than 1 Points/KoM Goal

And please note: The stage wins goals means stage wins. Overall race victories - be it a stage race or one day race - do not count. Also, stage wins are only counted from HC, C1 or C2 races - victories while participating on a wildcard in the ProTour do not count.

Also be aware that the Regional rankings goals include all HC, C1, C2HC and C2 races.

Goal Changes

This year, for one of your goals, you can select 2 races (of the same category) rather than 1. For example: "Top 10, Tour de Suisse or Tour of Qatar". At the end of the transfer season, you must then choose which or these two races you want to keep in your goal. However doing this reduces the cost of a goal by 1 point.

Also, regional rankings goals give slightly less points this year, compared to last year.

Submitting your Goals
ProTour teams: PM them to alexkr00
ProContinental teams: PM them to roturn
Continental teams: PM them to Smowz

Deadline
Ideally send them in as soon as possible. Especially for existing teams as Renewals cannot begin until your team goals are selected. Of course, I don't expect any ProTour teams to want to send their goals in until the Vuelta route has been decided and announced. New teams have a little longer to decide as they do not have any renewals to do.

Will aim to have this done within 24 hours. Couple of questions:

1) Are we to presume ranking point scales remain the same? Just so that people can consider how likely a type of rider is to get into the Top X of the individual standings. Smile

2) With the budgets decreasing, will training costs also decrease or is the budget decrease to prevent excessive training?

Thanks!

Well that was easy.... let the heart take charge instead of the head! Probably going to regret that about 3 months into the season but considering i am expecting to relegate i don't care Pfft

@jph: The budget reduction was to mainly counter the excessive amount of money spent on training. Therefore unlikely that training costs will change.

Missing profiles have been updated bar the Vuelta and C2 Hill Classic.

Had hoped to get money to train Guerao, seems unlikely seeing how poorly I have been with my goals. I have made some very "easy" goals this season to try to get it better for 2015.

Ah ok, thanks Smowz. Will make transfers interesting as teams will want to max income if they wish to train.

Are the Tour of Ukraine profiles missing for anyone else or just for me? Smile

FroomeDog99
Sent. Ambitious goals for us, we certainly need the correct riders in Transfers. If we can get them though they are achievable.

Miguel98
I've sent mine. My situation is exactly like FroomeDog there. Pfft

One fairly minor note, Giro del Trentino is 5 stages (according to the profile) but 4 stages in the calendar.

DubbelDekker
I second fjhoekie's question. And if yes, what will the maximum allowed average for PCT riders be in C2?

Okay so I'm a bit lost... Before getting goals planned I assume we need some sort of set schedule. I read that we have to pick 3 of the HC bands (2HC for CT). That is 60 days. I'm good so far, how do we pick the rest of the days though, and what are the minimum and maximum days? I can't seem to find any topic that covers this (point in right direction please).

After that the goals seem to be pretty well explained so not as worried about that.

Also I'm guessing that [C2] Circulo de Juarez is Listed as Mexico Flat Stage Race in the .xlsx?

@fjhoekie and Dubbeldecker.

Indeed PCT will be able to race C2 races - however I think SN was looking at the maximum average limit for such riders. I think it was felt that a few too many PCT riders were winning C2 races. That said with the creation of C2HC that may will improve - to be clear there PCTs will not be riding those.

@Kentauras and all CT managers -

For C2's it will be 60 race days C2HC and then 90 race days racing in C1 and C2 races. In the C1 and C2 races you can pick whichever races you like.

CT teams should learn from Team Gazelle (Last years best CT team by a long way) if they want to rack up a good points score - they raced almost exclusively at C2 and yielded fine returns. C1 races will be hard to pick up points - PCT's will send strong line ups there. They will not be able to send strong riders to C2 races (likely less strong than even last year).

For picking Goals, you don't really have to have planned out the whole of your season, though if you go for a regional goal of course you will have to think about races in that region.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Smowz, that clears it up wonderfully. Do you want us to send schedules to you along with the goals? Is there a proper format for this?

roturn
Only goals. Schedules will come later.
