It seems a conflict in Ukraine is coming closer and closer. Obama has now critisized the Russian intervention om the Crimean peninsula.
Kick off the cycling!

Smooth as silk, that transition you made there.

The obvious news, the new cycling season starts today with Omloop Het Volk
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

I thought you loved this part of the season, Luigi?
I do though, and I'll certainly try to watch Omloop. Guess Sporza broadcasts it, at least.

Question
Are there plans for more races with no radios this season, or is the Omloop going to be the only great race of the season?

Only WT classification races have radios now so anything HC or below will not have radios.

Boasson Hagen says in an interview that even though he's happy with Sky, he reveals that he has had talks with other teams and is considering his options.

So, route made worse in two different ways, huh?
God damn it...
Meanwhile, Dauphiné route is out. 10km prologue, no more TTs afterwards

Interesting route, in that it's not entirely Alpine-centred, instead venturing into what I suppose is the eastern Massif Central. 3 HC climbs, although I'm not really sure if any of them are worth that label

Nice to see Lyon using their new 236million euro eco-tunnel. Should make for some unique tv shots as the riders fly down it's 1.8km length. Wonder if the route passes the Tour Incity site but i doubt it... (also i now hate the city because of my stupid coursework project)

Cycle of Lies is out. Anyone else read it yet?
To Lance's question of 'why do I get punished more than others', the epilogue is the answer. He very very clearly isn't sorry for anything he's done, would do it all again and still hates - he actually says so - LeMond, Andreu, etc with all his heart simply because they exposed who he really is
What an unbelievably hateful human being.
Oh, and he's still lying and bullying, that hasn't stopped either.

Regret, remorse, contrition - a bit fundamental as a starting point for forgiveness...
Shouldn't a half decent sociopath at least be able to make it look like they might be sorry? |

Well, for compulsive liars, lying is a drug. And for Armstrong, it probably is sweeter than any other drug he has ever taken.
He comes off as an incredibly hatefull and remorceless person, filled to the brink with hate and anger

More on the use of Xenon gas as a performance enhancer at Cycling Tips https://cyclingtips.com.au/2014/03/xen...t-hot-air/
Clearly still lots of unknowns but essentially it could boost red blood cell production (EPO like effect though the scale is unlikely to be comparable?).
Given the Russians have been openly using it (to be clear it's not banned though WADA are set to discuss it in the near future) I imagine they've already observed some sort of performance benefit on their athletes, otherwise why go to the great expense and trouble of lugging around gas canisters! |

Maybe because whoever's person of interest in Russia owns the company that produces it, making it more or less a governmental company, and the studies on Xenon have not been reviewed by peers, but by interested parties. The conclusion of the (biased) study is that it reduces fatigue, enhances oxygen consumption, has no side effect, improves self-confidence, etc. I'm probably forgetting half a dozen of benefits here.
In a state of corruption you're ready to buy with governmental money products from companies, at an expensive price, even for little benefits. |

Yes, good point. It talks about the (worthless as a result of self interest) study in the article and then references some study from 2009 (I think) that talks about the large effect on mice - mice don't equal humans so as I say lots of unknowns. |

Isn't Kittel supposed to have used Xenon in the past?
