The Mini Man Game has its next race: The Tour du Haut Var in France.
It`s a short 2-day stage race with two tough hilly stages. So the puncheurs are the obvious favourites.
So who are the favourites? Actually almost every team has a possible podium rider here. And as mentioning all of them would take too long, I will try to name as many as possible.
KazMunayGas once again sends a very strong squad here with Ivan Stevic and Behcet. Two possible winners and first one has a huge advantage as he might also be the best sprinter of the puncheurs.
Similar type of rider is Hugo Sabido of the Millenium squad even though he is more a climber than a puncheur. Still he did well in Italy and should also be watched in these two stages.
Zoegas with a Swedish duo Ljungblad and Landström surely can have a huge impact here and belong to the best teams as well just like Miche with Moletta and Schoffmann.
BNP Paribas with Niv also has one of the top favourites in their squad with some solid support.
Katusha always must be named as strong team. Kochetkov is a good rider to have and should do very well here.
LKT with Schafer and Belka also must be watched. Also Svab likes the hilly stages and so they have a leading trio here.
Other favourites are Malle (Peugeot), Cohnen (Rucanor), Chu (Fuji), Lagab (Argo), Van Houts (Van Merksteijn), Trautmanis (Kalev), De Ketele (Dexia), Earle (Commonwealth), Marino (SFR), Munoz Giraldo (Coldeportes), Lopez Gonzales (America), Coenen (Electrabel), Mate (iBanesto), Milan (Eroski) or Mesfin (Standard Bank).
As you can see, the list of favourites is long and I might have missed a few. So once again a very open race with lots of possible scenarios, that is hard to predict.
Surprisingly a few teams haven`t selected their strongest puncheurs and trust their 2nd leader here. We will see after those two days if this decision was smart or not.
And also we have lots of sprinters here, which will need a lot of luck and very good legs to have any chance.
And last but not least. Don`t expect any reports before Tuesday. I won`t be at home but feel free to discuss until then.

Nice to see MMG again...I'm expecting a great performance by Niv, he should fight for the victory and maybe the GC. |

Really looking forward to the Tour du Haut Var. It's one of the most anticipated races for Zoegas in the whole season.
After a couple of stage top tens in Padania we are now in for the teams first podiums. Back in Italy Jonas Ljungblad showed some weakness, but I'm expecting the veteran to take the charge here.
Sent a really strong squad, which should be in the mix for the team competition win, too. |

7-eleven last in the numbers and and with good reason, our strongest Puncher has 68 Hil
Oh well, hopefully we'll score some publicity in a break and if lucky some points along the way.

7-Eleven nowhere to be seen, but hey, at least we did better than Van Merksteijn

Nice report, but disappointing result with only 1 Dexia-rider in the main group...

The breakaway managed to gain quite a bit of time.. is the GC already decided? I hope to see Millenium fighting for the stage win tomorrow! |

Nice report! Unfortunately i'm very disappointed by the team: we were here to fight for GC or the stage win so a 13th is pretty bad. Anyway let's hope in the last stage, eventhogh the GC seems to be already decided. |
