I guess we all have seen the bus already but that was not the biggest fail in my opinion. The decision to have the sprint at the 3km line would have created a massacre because if that bend (round-about).
Changing the sprint back to the original finish line after the crash was another big fail. They only cared about the TV broadcast.
And then giving the same time to all the riders although the crash was not withing 3km. Crashes are part of the race. If they don't want these crashes, then they should secure the streets and/or use other routes. Having smaller roads and more corners would reduce the mass crash risk.
Finally: What did they think when they decided to stick these little flags on the border of road? These flags are so small, so that it is very difficult for the riders to see them.
And these flags are bound together. Was it to make sure the pedals are tangled for sure? Most stupid thing I have ever seen.
Permitting dogs running free around the TdF route
Man, that was close today. 1 sec later and it would've been a massive crash.

The dog's owner was even more stupid. He knows the peloton is coming and lets his dog free, then he tries to make a run to take the dog out of the road but only when the riders are already there.... Pure idiot.

The bus thing wasn't even the organizers fault was it?
The organizers I believe made it clear the finish banner was going to be lowered to its actual height 3 hours before the finish, and all other team buses got through in that time, but Orica decided to come by only 30mins before the finish.
Also cant blame spectators incompetence on the organization.
Why would tight roads and even more corners make the route better, but then you highlighted the round-about as a problem from the first stage?
I dont even know what flags you're talking about but maybe they are bad. Surely nothing that makes this Tour like you seem to think though.

"Making it clear" is not the same as preventing it, so of course it is a fail. But I never said that only the organizers failed. In this case it was them, the bus driver, the Orica team manager and the person who allowed the bus to drive there.
But the organizers failed even harder by causing all these problems in the peloton by shortening the stage then to prolonging it again.

Do you agree that having a corner 40 meters before the finish line is not the same as having many corners 20 km to 5 km before the finish line.

Ask Hoogerland if he likes these flags.
Anyway, I named this thread Tour de Fail, not Tour de Organizer fail. And that dog incident obviously was a fail too. I guess dog owners are just not the smartest people.
And today the TV broadcast was a fail also. Who exactly won the race, was it Irizar or yet Bakelants?

Well, rider can break basicly every part of his body, and dog can only get scared , or get some small injuries in these situations.
Also , about that situation with dog, am i actually the only one who is thinking that the guy wasn't dog's owner and that he did great job by "removing" him from road. It was in last second, but just think if he didn't do that... Mass crash as yesterday and big mess around.
About yesterday's situation,i mean, who the hell is paying to that driver? I mean, even if it is his first race to drive,he should know where he is going. I just want to know what he was thinking in that situation. Pretty stupid for him. And really,if finish was moved to 3KM to go, almost 100% chances were that there will be crash. It was so dangerous and i am happy that they recalled that decision and moved it to old location. These side banners are also, really , really stupid idea. I mean, they're pretty light and wind can push them to the side, so falls are very likely. Remove them , motherfuckers , they're going to kill someone. Seriously.
But mistakes happens to everyone. I just want to enjoy Tour, the biggest cycling race. It really gives us great fun so far, with all of these attacks, unpredictable results and strange leaders.
I think the problem yesterday, was not the bus getting stuck but the bad organization of the Tour in dealing with it. Firstly a banner cannot be that hard to move, secondly the alternative finish they planned was a serious health hazard and could've caused a serious crash. The organizers clearly had no concern for the safety of the riders. I can't see the point in blaming the bus driver, these accidents happen.
Also today with that silly dog on the road and the silly boy that got too near to Sagan, were clearly a lack of knowledge by the locals concerning a big race in Corsica.
They say things happen in threes, I wonder what non-cycling drama they'll be tomorrow.
Also the English commentary for the race has been poor, they've got the names of most of the riders in breaks wrong and even got the race winner wrongEdited by Tafiolmo on 30-06-2013 23:25

If a rider is alone and hits a dog and he wears a helmet the worst thing for the rider is probably bruises. A dog, if hit hard, will get injuries for life.
But mostly I worry about both dog and riders . It's really scary to watch it, like seconds from disaster
I am against domesticated animals. And if you are silly enough to have one, how stupid must you be to let it walk freely when you are spectating the Tour de France? The dog's owner should be fined.

Bakelants won it with a second and took yellow.
Did he actually win by a second, or was it touch and go and they gave it to him to stop the organisers getting out their calculators?
It was legitimately 1 second.

Every year there are unforeseeable hiccups and little things that go wrong. Try making decisions of this magnitude in the same time frame that the race organisers have without any contingency plans while still having to satisfy your commercial interests (thus ruling out a neutralised stage one).
Some people are just too unnecessarily critical. Have some sympathy and try to think about the hundreds of kilometres which pass without any incident at all.
Hey guys the world dont stop for a bike race dogs will be dogs are you going to tell me they will stop birds from landing on the road in the future haha no ,the bus was honest mistake shit happens really this thread is a waste of time its a bike race that runs thru the streets IF i run the race i would put all those idiot spectators out of the way there more of a worry than a stray dog .
