Tour de Beauce Preview

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/2013%20Routes/ct_c2_beauce.png

June 19-24, 2013 : America C2: Canada

4 flat stage, 1 hilly/mountain stage, and a time trial.
Everything you need for an exciting tour.

GC Contenders

Very few top guys have decided to make the trip to Canada, so the regular helpers will finally get their chance to shine and pick up a some rare points.

Sprinters

Instead of teams focusing on GC, many of the them are looking
at the 4 flat stages to get a good results from their sprinters.

The Rest

Overall it's a rather weak start list with a bunch of PCT teams coming down to get experience for their young riders and quite a few cobblers scattered
in as well with probably extra race days to use up.

So with a quite a few rookies and cobblers expect the breakaways
to be a popular place but with so many sprinters it's hard to
see any of the breakaway succeeding.

Gazelle to continue their success with a dominant Westra win. Can't see it any other way Smile

Surprised that Larsson and Niemic aren't here. They're perfect for this race.

I'm cheering for the Russian leader of our Spanish friends Pfft

I don't want to sound biased, but there's not going to be any gaps in the hill stage, maybe some seconds, but not much more than that. I'll bet on someone that can grab bonus seconds and then hang in the hilly stage.

How does that make you biased?

After reporting the Tour of Belgium, I have a hard time believing that anyone will be able to beat Westra. Perfect rider for races like this.

Again a surprisingly large amount of specialists on this terrain are missing! Great news for Westra, who should now indeed be considered top favorite.

I think Joeaar might be his biggest rival. With 71 HI he has a good chance of hanging on and he has 75 TT. Also Kirchen (74 HI, 71 TT), Menchov (72 HI, 70 TT), and Lalouette (70 HI, 72 TT) might do well. And as dangerous outsider Astarloza (69 HI, 70 TT).

Don't know about Talabardon though; he has 60 TT.
Talabardon, Rudaskov, Firsanov, Ilias, Jumabekov, Grau and Routley could end high in final GC if stage 3 is selective, but I don't see them winning it.

The only guys with low TT (64 and 61) who I still consider to be dangerous outsiders are Torckler and Nardin. They might score a lot of bonus seconds in the sprint stages, because those aren't exactly flat.

Curious how the impressive amount of PCT teams will do. Don't really know those riders. Are there some good hilly/TT riders in there?

Well for my top 5 goal I couldn't have hoped for a more favourable startlist....

Whether or not Naibo or Ilias can succeed in achieving that is another matter. Unless stage 3 is extremely selective (and history tell us that it won't) no one on our team can TT worth a damn outside of Matteau, who maybe can make some magic happen on home soil?

Anyway, it will be fun sweating this one out.

If the terrain leading up to the final climb would've been flat I would've agreed with you. But the entire stage is constantly going up and down, so I have good hope for some gaps.

Top rated team in that shot Pfft

Another "Home" race for the Boeing lads, especially Britton, Routely and Sparling. In all likelihood Chicchi won't get much as he can barely handle a speed bump let alone a hill. Another aggressive ride like the first few days in Vancouver really could pay good in such a field. Hoping that Gerogiev, and especially Mihaylov, can put in good rides over the hillier stuff. A Top 10 would be good, but is unlikely. I'll take any result

Wider in the startlist, it's Westras' to loose. Sprints could also be good with a fairly close bunch of guys

If stage 3 turns out to be not selective, that Canadian of yours might indeed have a shot at top 5.

Also check out Keisse, everyone. A good sprinter with 70 TT and 66 HI! He might be trouble.

All things considered, this may end up a very tense and exciting tour!

Hoping Veilleux does some fine racing here. Not much to hope for, though. I don't think Damrow has ever finished in top 10, so even putting him on a list with favorites for a sprint is a waste of time. Pfft

Congrats Firefly! Nice win. Forgot that Demare has a good HI stat. That guy is going to be an awesome rider in the future.

Nardin, once again you do better than expected. Great job!

Keough had a good 1st stage. Picked up some bonus seconds, finished 4th on the day and is 3rd in the GC. If the last day is not too demanding he might be able to hold a decent position.

Awesome start for us, I bet it pleased the French-Canadian crowd too!

First ever stage win for Demare was a nice one for sure. I'm pretty sure he can maybe compete for the points jersey, but I doubt it helps us achieve our goal of a top 5 in the GC. Whatever, good news is good news

Always good to see a team winning on home soil. Even better when it's one with an active manager. Congrats, Firefly. Smile

Nice little race this is. I had intended to take part in it as part of the America Tour, but in the long run it just wasn't profitable for us.

I can see a handful of PCT teams here with the same goal, like Hollister, WWE, and others, so I'll have to root for the C2 teams. Sorry guys Pfft

Oh my god, this game is so bad

Quite weird that a rider like Veilleux and Becerra dropped. I think they should be capable of keeping up. Damrow is not a surprise. Pfft Nice to see Dombrowski in break.
