Seriously, there is not one Golf thread on this forum? That's disappointing. If anyone watches golf, feel free to discuss here.
Spoiler Forever Alone, probably no one here even cares.

I only watch Masters annually (and Ryder Cup) and that's pretty much it. It's pretty fun though.

To be honest, I think golf's not a lot of fun. It's just a bunch of rich guys hitting a ball with a stick and being their own rich-usual-selves. So elite. |

It's a discussion forum, isn't it? Someone opens a topic about golf, I give my opinion about it. He knows more about it so he can say whether I'm wrong/right or if it's just a matter of opinion. Maybe one day I get convinced and learn how to play golf. You can learn a lot in life exchanging opinions |

admirschleck: Well you don't have to give a comment on everything. But I thought it might be interesting to hear about the people that like golf, so I gave my opinion. Now let's stay on the topic of golf.
-----
Either way, I don't know much about golf, I read an article about the finances about it and that just disgusted me. It was about a Belgian golfer (Colsaert something) finally having enough money to enter some kind of big league?

Yeah, can you link me to the article? Are you referring to Nicolas Colsaerts? Yeah, he did pretty good in recent majors.
As for us Average Joes, I don't see how you can think that it's a rich person sport, I mean if you mean professionals, yeah, but it's the same with most sports.

You know, I never did think about this! I'm a golfer at my school, but I'm still shooting in the low 90s...

That's pretty good...a lot of people wish they could be a 15 handicap.

I guess it's ok, but most of my friends shoot 80-85.

Yeah Nicolas Colsaerts, that's right!
Well, it's different depending what sport. Tennis is a bit like golf (rich-wise), but for example, football players are mostly nitwits. I know they're rich, but it's not the rich snobbish mentality.
Cycling is a sport from the people, for example.
I hope you see what I mean? Maybe it's just stereotype, though, I'm not very involved in the sport. |

Snobby as in their interviews and stuff? I don't know what goes on in Europe but I guess this is just personal opinion.

In Europe, usually only rich people have time and funds to play golf. But that was like 10-20 years ago, the sport is spreading now, also among "normal people". But it is still rooted here as the sport for those that have enough time and money...
I love watching golf though, so i will be usual visitor here in the thread. It kinda reminds me of watching cycling. It can last hours and many think it is complete boredom.
I watch the PGA Tour regulary, maybe some 15+ tournaments per year (+ Majors, Players, Cups and FedEX Playoffs), as it is usually Thrusday-Sunday late evening-night, it is good time to watch some golf.
My favourite players are Woods (surprise, surprise) , Fowler, Mickelson, Adam Scott, Sergio Garcia and Camilo Villegas (bad form in last years).
I dont like Mc Ilroy though...

A pity that US Open is next weekend since I have oral exam over the weekend.. I play golf myself, but my development has stopped the last two years.
As for the US Open; Not a huge fan of US of A, so I certainly hope that the winner isn't american Scott, Garcia, Donald, G-Mac, Rose and Day are my favourites, so hopefully one of them can take the win.

Besides Tiger when he goes into beast mode, US open usually doesn't suit US players...with narrow fairways and thick rough and such, Most American players are big drivers.

Nope, Tiger's streak of 21 consec. majors without a win will continue.
