Thanks for the quick interest guys, you'll see the edit very soon and no I haven't changed his starting attributes because I think they're pretty spot on. The story won't follow on from the old one unfortunately due to the amount of editing that would require but obviously it will be broadly similar.
@Ian Butler, I could have bet my house on you having the first comment |

Introduction

Hey guys, it's me again, back for another season of this crazy sport we all love. For those of you that are new to this blog, I had great fun doing one last season as I helped Endura Racing destroy the Continental Tour! Now, in 2013, I'm back to try and get some more individual success as well as, of course, helping the team in whatever way I can.
Of course, you'll want to know what's going on this season first of all, I'd expect. Well, unfortunately, Endura Racing as a team doesn't exist anymore as they've joined forces with the German team NetApp to enable them to go Pro Continental. I had two offers on the table. One was with a new British team, Madison Genesis, to become their absolute leader, the other was to move up a level with NetApp Endura and be allowed to develop whilst helping the team leaders. It was an extremely tough decision but in the end I chose:
The main reason for my decision was that I want to test myself at a higher level, not moving back down to the domestic level. And I'm not the only one, with Russ Downing, McEvoy, Voss, Wetterhall, Thwaites, Camano, Dempster and Rowsell all moving from Endura to join the NetApp riders. I really hope that I will get the chance to ride in a World Tour race at some point soon but what I can say is the season will certainly be exciting, as that's guaranteed in the crazy world of road cycling.
Finally, my main goal for this season is the Tour of Britain in September, where I hope to challenge Sky and the others on a route that suits me. I will post my full calendar soon but I will have other goals before September, so don't worry about having to wait that long.

Team Presentation
Full Squad

Team Leaders
Jan Barta

Barta came to wider attention with a super aggressive ride at the 2012 Giro d'Italia. His attacking riding will hopefully bring wins for the team this year. He is a strong time triallist and punchy climber and will be hoping to challenge in short tours.
Bartosz Huzarski

The experienced Pole will be, alongside Barta, the leader in the hilly races. Not as good against the clock or on the longer climbs as the Czech rider, he will have to aim for the one day races rather than the tours.
Leopold Konig

Another Czech rider, Konig is the team's best climber and will be looking for some big mountains to test himself. At just 25 years old, he will be hoping to improve to be a real threat in bigger races, including Grand Tours, in the future.
Roger Kluge

German Kluge is a track cyclist who turned to the road. This of course has made him a quick finisher as well as a decent prologue rider. He is one of the team's lead sprinters.
Daniel Schorn

Another sprinter, Schorn had a breakthrough year in 2012 with some solid results. He doesn't mind a bit of undulation either, so will be looking to get some top results on tougher sprint stages.
Russell Downing

While he may not be getting any younger, Downing brings with him a wealth of experience and a quick finish as he enters the twilight of his career. He will be looking to pass on his knowledge to the younger riders as well as trying to score some good finishes.
Paul Voss

A great young all-rounder, Voss' strength is his versatility. A good time triallist, he can also deal with hills and cobbles. He is our only shot in the Belgian classics, with his ability over tough terrain.

Ian's Blog

05/01/13
Hi guys, it's time for my first blog as the season looms into view.
Right, I'm going to get straight to the point. Here's my provisional calendar for the season ahead, which could of course change due to a whole variety of reasons such as wildcards, injuries etc. I will start racing in late February and my season should end at the end of September. Here's the full list:
15/2 - 19/2 Volta ao Algarve
26/2 Clasica de Almeria
3/3 Strade Bianche
10/3 - 16/3 Tour de Taiwan
23/3 - 25/3 Critérium International
4/4 Scheldeprijs
8/4 Klasika Primavera
23/5 - 27/5 Bayern Rundfahrt
30/5 - 3/6 Skoda-Tour de Luxembourg
10/6 ProRace Berlin
20/6 Halle Ingooigem
23/6 British ITT Championship
29/6 British RR Championship
1/7 - 8/7 Internationale Osterreich Rundfahrt
10/7 - 16/7 Tour de Pologne (Subject to Wildcard)
31/7 Circuito de Getxo
11/8 GP Camaiore
14/8 Tre Valli Varesine
16/8 Coppa Bernocchi
22/8 - 27/8 Post Danmark Rundt
9/9 - 16/9 Tour of Britain
27/9 Giro del Piemonte
29/9 Il Lombardia (Subject to Wildcard)
So there you go, talk about jetsetting! I could potentially race in twelve different countries this season, so I may win the airmiles race! Please UCI, give us some wildcards, I would absolutely love to race the Tour of Poland and Lombardia but I think the Italian race is unlikely. Nevertheless, for the team to show so much confidence in me to put me in the team for a monument is a great sign.
The first big goal will be the Tour de Taiwan where I want to get a good result on the GC. Then, the National Champs. and the Tour of Austria will be big goals. Finally, I would love to get a decent result in one of the Italian classics near the end of the season and, of course, the Tour of Britain. Then, if we don't get a wildcard for Il Lombardia, my season will end with the Giro del Piemonte a couple of days earlier.
I can't wait to hit Portugal in February for what will be an incredibly hard race against some of the best riders in the world but it will certainly get rid of the winter rustiness!
See you on the roads,
Ian Bibby |
