It's 1st of January in Samoa, so this thread can be started.
Any cycling news? Besides Cavendish ate a Bistecca Fiorentina (some big piece of steak) and Basso spend his holiday and training in Valencia and visited the local zoo, but that's no news....

No news in a "News in..." thread is a tradition, so stick with it. |

Yes there is definitely news:
Pat McQuaid has an article in the Irish Examiner:
https://www.irishe...N4.twitter
Basically the same old stuff, washing his hands in innocence as we call it in Dutch.
-Claims he couldn't have done anything against the Armstrong case, as he only tested negative
-About his position:
"I’ve done nothing to warrant resigning. All I’ve done since I became president is fight doping as best I could."
"I don’t see any reason why I should step down, to let somebody in [who] maybe doesn’t know as much, or is as capable, or isn’t as passionate, or as dedicated. I think I am the best man."

Cav ate a large steak? Note to him- never take food tips from Contador.

New kits
Meanwhile, Saronni seems to be looking at the Astana kit's fuglyness and thinking "how can we make our jersey that awful?"
And he came up with this:
Personally I think they all look pretty bad except Hagen's and Stannard's jerseys and the MTN one which I quite like

The norwegian national champion jersey for Team Sky looks great.
For me it is a bit weird to see Nibali in the Astana jersey.. |

No, he's fine, he just doesn't look like an Auschwitz victim like he and Froome suddenly looked since last year.
He'll lose the weight again before racing season.
EDIT: "Last year" = 2011. My brain always does that at the beginning of each year

Uran is going crazy. He is "looking for a Grand Tour podium in 2013", "either the Giro or the Tour, he doesn't know which one yet".
https://www.cyclin...um-in-2013
I have one question: Does he know that he almost surely won't be a leader in those races? |

Totally agree with Lampre. It used to be alright a while ago, imo, but its gotten worse every year, with the minimal changes.
Also dont mind Movistar just because its plain and while a little boring its not ugly.

Both had slight changes.
Movistar
AG2R, now has the thinner material, and it says AG2R underneath the arm. To name a few of the small changes.

I may be the only person in the world who doesn't think the Astana kit look bad. I like the Movistar one as well |

It is just me, or the kits look more "gayish" every year now in general. I mean they are like latex suits now (yeah i know that aerodynamics are important, but in combo with that shiny materials).
