It will soon be time for a key point in all continuing teams off season - the renewals.
The riders have been in talks with their agents and are ready to give you their wage requests. You have 3 rounds to negotiate with them, and try to get them as cheap as possible - some might have plenty of scope for negotiation, while others may refuse to budge.
If at the end of the 3 rounds, you fail to offer a wage the rider will accept then he will join the free agency. But if at any time you offer him a wage that he does accept, then that is his final wage. So if he accepts in Round 1, you wont be able to try to get him cheaper in future rounds.
For those who have done renewals before, dont expect it to be exactly the same. Every rider has a new average, and the algorithm has been changed accordingly - some riders will accept a wage lower than they would have done last year, while others will now only settle for more. They will all ask for more though, of course!
To help you out, riders will give hints about how close your offer was if they refuse. Unfortunately for you, these hints are suitably vague. A rough guide is in the Spoiler:
Spoiler
Close | | At most 20k away, potentially no more than 10k | Average | | Could mean up to as far away as 80k, but could also mean much closer than that | Way Off | | Maybe you are roughly 180k away from the rider's accepting wage, but alternatively it could be half of that | Serious increase needed | | If you're not close, you're not average, you're not way off, and a deal has not been made, then the rider isnt very happy with you! |
The minimum wage for all teams remains 50,000.
You may have decided that you do not want to renew a rider. If so, offer him 0 and he will leave your team. Alternatively, you might not want to sign a rider in Round 1, but want to keep the option of signing them in a later round - in which case make an offer that is greater than 0 but less than 50k.
Bpost, Swedbank and Bintang should be aware that they can only sign a maximum of 2 of their stagiares from last season.
Fines: You will be allowed to end the renewals stage with a team whose wages cost more than your salary cap. However you will receive a fine for this - which is double the amount that you are over the salary cap.
e.g. If a ProTour team ends Renewals with riders whose wage totals 3.6 mill, then the team willl receive a 200k fine.
There is no fine if you end Renewals with less than 20 riders - you only need to have at least 20 at the end of the Transfer period.
--
The process for Renewals remains the same.
I will PM you with the initial file, and also inform you of your budget for the season. If mediafire does not work for me, post in this thread with an alternative uploader for me to use for you.
You then need to respond with a file that contains your initial offers.
In turn, I will PM back with Round 2 - you find out if your riders have accepted or not, and if not they will have a new offer for you.
Make your Round 2 bids, and then the process continues for Round 3 - after which Renewals is over for your team.
And be patient if it is a few days until I PM you, they will be spread out rather than done all at once.
---
Any questions, ask them here

There is one question you might want to refuse to answer because it goes too deep into the algorithms, but anyway:
If I bid far too low, e.g. 200k for a rider that would sign for 600k (for whatever reason), is there a chance he demands even more the next round because he feels badly treated and rather wants to get out of the team, or are the riders always looking for a compromise or at least demanding the same again?

I'm assuming PT will get theirs first and PCT later, or is it just random teams at a time that receive their file?

Yes, riders will only be willing to compromise with their next request if they deem your first offer to be realistic (while obviously still not as much as they are looking for).

Alright, I have a feeling that I'm going to get screwed pretty hard here. Looking forward to it though

Fingers crossed that things will go well. Really worried that everything will fall apart here.

This sounds so much fun, but I'm happy I had it easy in renewals.
Check out my ManGame team here

I'm not entirely sure I want to see my rider's wage demands after the season they've had.

Looking at the reactions above, I'm happy I don't have to do this yet!
Good luk to all teams in renewals, but leave some more FA's. Preferably Spanish! ;-)

It's bittersweet really, the guys that have done well for you will suddently cost you more. On the other hand, if someone has dissapointed you get them cheaper (And talents in general will fall in wage )
I released a spaniard for you

I guess everyone initially wants a bit more, but if his offer stays that high in round 2, he's mad.
However, being horribly overpriced should see him end up higher than comparable riders anyway, if I understood the mechanism.

That is obvious. Sure he won`t fall to ~200k, which would be a comparable salary to similar riders.
But I had hoped to bring him down quite a bit.
So need to wait for round 2 now and see what he responses. |
