Team Garmin - Slipstream are taking the Nationalist's approach to the Tour Down Under, the opening race of the seaon. With 5 Australian registered riders on the team, plus a New Zealander, the team only needs one more rider to complete the quota of 7 riders. So, the team has decided to take Sprint Ace Tyler Farrar. He will be joined, and lead out, by the team's Kiwi, Julian Dean, and both will be supported by the Australian Countymen Matthew Wilson, Brett Lancaster, Travis and Cameron Meyer, and Jack Bobridge.

Euskaltel - Euskadi have changed the strategy slightly towards this season trying to eliminate the teams largest weakness so far: Flat cobbly roads. This have meant signing some non-basque riders, who will target these races. The team as such is still very much Basque, and will continue to build on a Basque foundation the upcoming seasons.
You will still see a team focusing on mountainous terrain with eagerness to attack every time the opportunity presents itself.

Santos Tour Down Under
Spoiler Roster:
Antón, Igor
Fernandez, Koldo
Hammond, Roger
Moreno, Rubén Pérez
Isasi, Iñaki
Izagirre, Gorka
Lezaun, Alan Pérez
Goals:
We want to get a good start to the season. Antón will aim for the GC and the hilly stages. The rest of the team is shaped around Fernandez for the sprints and to keep both Antón and Fernandez safe on the flat.
Race development
Stage 1: Noting much to report. Only time we were visible was when Izagirre sprinted for the intermediate sprint.
Stage 2: Rubén Pérez Moreno was in the break and won the KOM sprint placing him second in the competition with same points as the leader.
Stage 3: No decent pictures of Euskaltel riders in todays report, but still Antón got a 4th on the stage while Pérez Moreno took the KOM jersey
Stage 4: Pérez Moreno again in the break, but ended up losing the climbers jersey by 2 pts to Koren.

Stage Profile
The Race
The first attacks of the season came from Roulston and Koren.
Next to attack was Ravard, Cooke, Wagner, Lequatre and Maes.
Koren was the first over the top of the mountain and will wear the jersey for tomorrow.
At the first sprint point Luke Roberts managed to claim the points ahead of Izagirre and Renshaw.
The peloton went through the sprint point 6.17 later,
The 2nd sprint point brought another great sprint but this time it was Maes that cam out on top ahead of Lequatre and Rast.
With 30km to go the leading 11 only had 2.08 on the charging peloton lead by Liquigas.
With 20 km only 1 minute
With 13km to go Roberts and Renshaw attacked.
With 6km to go the lead outs were ready but there was still no sign of Greipal near the front.
With 700m to go Rojas Gil was leading but Boonen was breathing down his neck.
And who won?
Boonen, JUST.
Rojas Gil got 2nd and Furrar 3rd.
