Meanwhile in the future... Deinoff's year?
lokytrew
19th of June 2019, 2nd stage of the Route du Sud

'The pack is now going up the Col d'Aubisque as we see Joachim Larsen on the front. The Aker team is doing really well controlling the pace. 80 kilometres to go as we see an acceleration by Deinoff! Sweet lord! The Norwegian powers away from the rest and he leaves them behind! This guy is amazing!'

'And there comes Deinoff! He is just too strong for the rest! This was a demonstration from the likes of Coppi, Merckx, Pantani. Absolutely fabulous. Ben Deinoff wins the stage.'

Deinoff won the Route du Sud and was now preparing himself. For the Tour de France, which would start in Orléans on the 2nd of July. Many considered the 29 year old Norwegian as the favourite, but he was not the only one to win the contest.

ING's leader Yannick Eijssen was his main rival. The two were only looking at each other. Yannick was the new Armstrong, with a Belgian nationality. He was the best climber and the best timetrialist. But he had no guts. Something his Spanish opponent Valls Ferri did have. The Spaniard dominated the 2017 Giro and he launched himself to be the new Spanish hope. There was also French hope. Romain Sicard finally proved his talent and Fabrice Bellier was someone who reminded people of Bernard Hinault. The Netherlands also had a promising fella. Ken Berghuis was an amazing climber. Could 2019 be his year?

Spoiler
My first story on the forum! It is only a TdF carreer, so expect it to be short.

'As the premier from the ASO, I would like to introduce you to this years course.' If there is one thing we all agree with, it is that this Tour will be remembered as one of the hardest in history. This race will include lots of mythical cols. Let me show you the course.'

Spoiler
The 2019 Tour starts in Orléans and ends in Lyon. Lyon? Why not Paris? Well, Paris didn't have enough money to sponsor. Weird, but true. Unfortunately. Also, the Mont Ventoux won't feature this year. But, one Pyrenean giant is back! The Aubisque! After an epic stage in 2017 where Deinoff got yellow, the people where dissapointed it wasn't in in 2018. But now, it is in again and with a decisive role.

The course:

Hello there, my name is Deinoff. Ben Deinoff. And I'm a cyclist. Here is a picture from me.
farm9.static.flickr.com/8302/7855532092_cb22969b3c.jpg

Let me tell you something about myself. I'm 29 years old, I'm from the Norwegian town of Trondheim but I live in Bédoin. Bédoin? Isn't that close to the Ventoux? Well yes it is! I know the Ventoux from the top of my head and I love to ride there. Um, I won the Tour de France in 2017!

Let's zoom in on me as a cyclist. You can compare me to Il Pirata, Marco Pantani. I'm quite small, I can't timetrial and my climbing skills are, well, good. I've won Milano - San Remo in 2018 and I won Il Lombardia twice. I also won the Giro d'Italia in 2014.

But enough about me, I will show you my team!
i1342.photobucket.com/albums/o773/lokytrew/AKER2019.png

Aker, TV2 and Ola Nilsson have put together a team full of beastiality. Matti Hammer already won the Amstel and L-B-L this year, and according to the schedule he should support me in the Tour, but unfortunately, he fell last week and he broke his pelvis. *sigh* In the Tour, I will get support from Calle Miranda, Olaf Wahlberg (whose future is bright), Edvald Boasson Hagen and Joachim Larsen in the mountains. LP Rinden, Alex Wetterhall and BG Ostenstad will support me on the flat. That's amazing right? I'm already looking forward to the Tour!

Insiders about Ben

This guy is amazing. He's just Pantani with hair.
~Andy Schleck, 2x L-B-L winner

I'm proud I've ridden with him. He is a pro. He knows what to do in every situation. He is just so allround. I can't name lots of cyclists who have MSR, Lombardia, the Worlds and the Tour in their carreer.
~Lars Ytting Bak, teamleader at Joker - Merida

'Don't stop, always keep going.' That's how I describe Ben Deinoff.
~Jens Voigt, fighter and UCI President

If I was Eijssen, I would be scared!

umm why are you even bothering to play the game? if your just gonna edit all the stats and give your guys crazy mountain and sprinting abilities. like seriously which top tier climber do you know that can also sprint with top tier fast men? none. so ditch all the fake riders with 76 sprint and 80 in the hills and mountains because its just really cheap. like really im curious is it fun winning every single race you start? why not just make the stats 85 across the board if you feel like cheating?

my team has no one above 78avg and i still managed to win several classics and a grand tour on hard mode in one season with Klodi.
top 10 of all time in no particular order, not including the cannibal cause hes automatically #1:

-Gemininani -Nencini -Anquetil -Coppi
-Kelly -Hinault -Zabel -Bettini -Rebellin -Magni
..and honorable mention to Tom Simpson whos career was cut short.

Top 5 noobs most likely to tear it up this season:
-Phinney -Moser -TJ -Guardini -DURBO!

And also, although I'm not 100% sure on this, normally on TDF stories people tend to control a useless team do nothing and watch. I'm not sure about that though, that's the normal thing (I think, could be completely wrong here)

lokytrew
@CosmicOsmo, like FroomeDog99 said, it's called stats development. I started this carreer with no one average above 71. I got Hagen in 2015 and I didn't know he could be this beast. For Larsen, I just saw he was doing well in the youth rankings so I signed him. I couldn't know that this were his stats. Don't blame me for having a too strong team. I only sign youth riders since 2016 and this is just the outcome. I'm sorry if this is bothering you. Another fact is that there are riders with MO 85 in this game. Yannick Eijssen has 85 MO 84 HILL and 78 TT. My team is definetely not the strongest.

@francopell. I will control the Aker team.
