Tour director Christian Prudhomme and his route team have really mixed up the mountain challenges in the first half of the race, sending the riders into unfamiliar terrain that presents plenty of opportunities for the attack-minded. The main complicating factor on this one is the Col du Grand Colombier, which has never appeared on the Tour before. Logic suggests that it’s too far out from the finish to be decisive but there are some very steep ramps on its 17km ascent. Will the climbers cook something up? If they’ve lost a lot of time in the TT they might have to. If not, a small group will contest the uphill finale.

This is made for attacks. Hope Nibali will try to gain some time the DH looks tailor- made for him.

I'm going with victory for a breakaway. VdB could attack at Col du Grand Colombier while Nibbles will leave it for the descent

Agree, although I hope that Nibali also will give it a go uphill, as it's the only way to put more than 20-30 sec into Wiggo's lead. Pinot, Rolland and Schleck will be among the riders upfront.

Really? Have you seen him in the last few days?

To me it looks like he's really suffering from the crashes. Or he's not in form. I think he'll need a few days to recover and then go for a victory later in the race, most likely from a breakaway.

Hopefully we'll see some attacks already on the Grand Colombier. Nibali, Evans, Van den Broeck and a few others should be interested. If they until the second climb, then their chances of dropping Wiggins are much smaller, since that climb is quite easy. Will be hard for a solo rider, like maybe Nibali, to stay clear in the finale though. Last kilometer averages around 5,5 %.

Well he was in the TT 34, better than Schleck, Daniel Martin, Scarponi, Basso, Gesink and Rolland. I think he is not in a bad form and he said in the Spanish Press he wanted an Stage win and will be try to attack tommorow and on Thursday and imo if he waits for everyone to recover too then it would be more dificult or do u think???

Van Garderen probably loses his Top 10, imo Smile And I dont really know, but if he has white, that too.

Don't underestimate Van Garderen! Alakagom made that mistake. Wink

Well, he got dropped pretty early on Planche des Belles Filles. If you ask me, his climbing capacity is heavily overrated.

He's the same deal as old Tony Martin if you ask me. Great Time Trial, only average climber. He might be in the big group on one of the mountain stages, but he wont be there very often.

If anybody not named Bradley Wiggins wants to win this race, he should attack tomorrow.. Hopefully, this is going to be an awesome stage..

I think that a breakaway will get the victory.

Breakaway again
Nibbles, Evans etc will try a move on a desctent, which i beleive is the wrong move. If they actually attack on the climbs they will do more damage, unless its raining

The thing is that Col du Grand Colombier has easy parts and last 5-6 km are easy too, so don't get too excited about big attacks there. It still should be a 10-20 group after it.

Guido Mukk
Taaramäe will take that white back..if Gallopin is not in breakaway again

Kirchen_75
I'd Really loved someone to attack on Grand Colombier and emulate Andy Schlecks 60k Posthuma-Monfort in the break combo. Seems like VdB is the most likely option with Jelle Vanendert in the Break. Or perhaps Nibali-Szmyd

Not sure if mentioned:

Cancellara will abandon immediately if his child is born during the Tour. Expected birth was after the Tour, but turns out may be sooner
