Well, here it is. My first story. Oh boy. Umm. So. I'm gonna do just the TDF with Ag2r and try to do the best I can. This is really just a test, as I'm going to likely do a PCM 12 story with the 2000 DB by Sali and lluuiiggii. So yeah. What do you guys think I should do for an intro and stages? In fact, you probably won't want to follow cause it's gonna be bad but, whatever. It's a first. So yeah.

The Tour de France is big for every team. Even more important for French teams. Especially Ag2r La Mondiale. Here at Ag2r we focused on sending our best possible lineup here for best possible results as we could. With John Gadret spent on the Giro, and a fairly time trial oriented course in mind, here's our 2012 lineup!
Ag2r La Mondiale
Jean Christophe Peraud
Maxime Bouet
Mickael Che`rel
Hubert Dupont
Se`bastien Hinault
Blel Kadri
Se`bastien Minard
Christophe Riblon
Nicholas Roche
P.S. Sorry for the accents, my keyboard doesn't have them.
Here is our team breakdown:
Absolute Leader
Jean Christophe Peraud
Jean Christophe is our big threat this year in the Tour. He is a good climber and great time trialist. With almost a hundred kilometers of time trials in this years race for Peraud to gain time on the favorites, we're looking for him to creep up for a top five. He was 9th last year.
Protected Riders
Hubert Dupont
Hubert is one of our darkhorses. He is a good climber, and will most likely be the last one standing for Peraud on the mountain stages where he will target a stage victory.
Nicholas Roche
The lone Irishman on team in also a decent climber. His ambitions are to snag the polka dot jersey for the team and himself, as well as help Jean Christophe in his GC ambitions. Roche himself is also a decent time trialist and will look for a top 25 overall.
Sprinter
Sebastien Hinault
Hinault may lack the pure speed at the age of 38 to compete against the likes of Cavendish, Greipel and Co, but he will try for top tens, which he is definetley capable of, judging by his 4th in stage 3 last year. He will also try to get into breakaways. This would allow him to possibly win the sprint from a successful break, and take a stage win.
Luxury Teammates
Christophe Riblon
Christophe will try to get stages throughout this tour, just like he accomplished on stage 14 of the race two years ago. His ability to climb a little gives him a mountain goat role as well for JCP.
Blel Kadri
Kadri will be another great temmate to have. He will also get in a few breaks but his main focus is to get Jean to the last climb in one piece to leave him for Dupont.
Sevastien Minard
Minard will help out the team all day for the leaders. He is a great helper and might get into a break if possible, but will mostly be a workhorse.
Maxime Bouet
Like the others, Bouet has decent climbing ability which we asa team will use to our advantage. He has great palmares with a 2nd placing on stage 2 of the TDF in 2010.
Mickael Cherel
Cherel completes our roster. He is another key domestique to complete our team. He has achieved top twenties in several pro tour classics before and will try to help us against his former team and rival of ours FDJ.
Our roster is heavily stacked with good domestiques, so we will never be short of help to make up for the fact that we don't have a Schleck or Contador. (Of course, neither does anybody else )

The tour is the epicenter of cycling, and we're not the only team to send their A-squad. So here's a look a the strongest of our competition.
The Yellow Jersey
Bradley Wiggins - Team Sky
Wiggins is one of the two main favorites for this years tour. While he lacks the amazing climbing ability of the other favorites, he is still a good climber, and has a weapon of his own. Wiggins is one of the best time trialists in the sports, and with thye amount of time trialing goin on in the race this year, he could gain chinks of time on the favorites that beat him in the mountains. He was 4th in 2009 and 2nd in last year's La Vuelta Espana, as well as winning several races this year.
Cadel Evans - BMC Racing Team
Evans is the defending champion of le Tour, where he beat ANdy Schleck in the race's final time trial. Like Wiggins, he gains time in time trial, but might also be the best climber in the tour this year. Therefore, he is many people's favorite for the win. However, his form has been a little off this year, which may pan into Wiggins' favor.
Samuel Sanchez - Euskatel- Euskadi
Samuel Sanchez is a great climber who won the King of the Mountains competition last year. You may see him in another section due to this. He won his teams home tour, Vuelta al Pais Vasco, this year, and won the final TT. He is a great climber and good time trialist, definetley a threat when on good form. He was 3rd in the Tour two years ago, and 5th last year.
Robert Gesink - Rabobank
Gesink has always been plagued by crashes, but he is unargueably a fantastic young talent. He wore the white jersey in for some time 2010 despite not winning it while Andy Schleck was in yellow, and finished 6th overall. He is on good form and has a great team surrounding him.
Other Contenders:
Frank Schleck - Radioshack Nissan Trek - Climbs
Andreas Kloden - Radioshack Nissan Trek - Time Trials
Chris Horner - Radioshack Nissan Trek - Climbs
Pierre Rolland - Team Europcar - Climbs
Thomas Voeckler - Team Europcar - Punch
Vincenzo Nibali - Liquigas Cannondale - Climbs
Ivan Basso - Liquigas Cannondale - Climbs
Michele Scarponi - Lampre ISD - Climbs
Ryder Hesjedal - Garmin Barracuda - No Specialty
Tom Danielson - Garmin Barracuda - No Specialty
Jean Christophe Peraud - Time Trials
Jurgen Van Den Broeck - Lotto Belisol - Climbs
Jelle Vandenert - Lotto Belisol - Climbs
Denis Menchov - Team Katusha - Time Trial
Janez Brajkovic - Pro Team Astana - Time Trials
Alexandre Vinokourov - Pro Team Astana - Time Trials
Alejandro Valverde - Movistar Team - Climb/Punch
Levi Leipheimer - Omega Pharma Quickstep - Time Trials
The Green Jersey
Mark Cavendish - Team Sky
In addition to Wiggins, Sky also field the 20 time stage winner, reigning green jersey winner and world champion. There is no doubt that the Manx Missile is the fastest man in the world on two wheels. If he can take the tons of points at the finishes, he will defend his jersey handily, but the competition is fierce, and Cav lacks the ability to get points on mountain stages that some of his competitiors hold.
Peter Sagan - Liquigas Cannondale
Sagan is only 22 years old, but wins everything. He is a sprinter who can also dominate on hilly finishes and withstand mountains, which means he could grab points at intermediates on mountain stages, which can win you the competition, as it did with Thor Hushovd in 2009.
Matthew Goss - GreenEDGE
The former leadout for Cav is now on his own and striking. He won a Giro stage this year and has made green a priority. Unfortunetley for him, he isn't quite as fast as Cav and doesn't have the climbing of Sagan, so it will be tough.
Andre Greipel - Lotto Belisol
Greipel is another former teamate of Cav. Along with Goss and Mark Renshaw, it seems all of the former HTC Columbia Highroad sprinters are focused on beating him now. He may be the only one who can beat Cav with pure speed, although rarely. He won stage 10 last year.
Other Contenders:
Phillipe Gilbert - BMC Racing Team - Punch
Alessandro Pettacchi - Lampre ISD - Fast
Tyler Farrar - Garmin Barracuda - Fast
Edvald Boasson Hagen - Sky Pro Cycling - Strong
Samuel Dumoulin - Cofidis Le credit par Telephone - Fast
Kenny Van Hummel - Vaconsoliel DCM - Fast
Oscar Freire - Team Katusha - Strong
Yauheni Hutarovich - FDJ Bigmat - Strong
Mark Renshaw - Rabobank - Fast
J.J. Rojas - Movistar Team - Fastly Strong
J.J. Haedo - Team Saxo Bank - Fast
Borut Bozic - Pro Team Astana - Fast
Marcel Kittel - Project T14I Shimano - Fast, Not Strong (I lowered him to 53 mtn and 57 hill)
The Polka Dot Jersey
Daniel Martin - Garmin Barracuda
The Polkadot is one of the most unpredictable things. That's why it's good to predict it. So Dan Martin fits shape. With his team of GC leaders, he looks like a free element who could go for it. Of curse, we have no idea about Garmin's plans, so there's nothing really to judge. He did win a mountain stage of la Vuelta last year (see above), and his ability to climb isn't quetsioned.
David Moncoutie - Cofidis le Credit par Telephone
Moncoutie is in his last year as a professional, and had to be convinced to go to his home tour. We know for sure that he will go for the mountains in La Vuelta later this year, but we can also predict that he will go in a few breaks. And when a good climbing rider goes in breaks he gets points. He's won the mountains classification in Spain 4 times.
Nicholas Roche - Ag2r La Mondiale
The other Irishman in the tour happens to belong to us, and we know that he is going for thew points. He has climbed well before, but hasn't really shown the potential that we know he has. That being said, we'll do everything in out power to have him bring home a jersey.
Samuel Sanchez - Euskatel Euskadi
I told you we'd see him again. He's the defending champion of the jersey and makes it by getting stage wins in the mountains, as when he won to Luz Ardiden last year.
Other Contenders:
Johnny Hoogerland - Vaconsoliel DCM - Polka Dot
Frank Schleck - Rdaioshack Nissan Trek - GC
Thomas Voeckler - Team Europcar - GC/Polka Dot
Ivan Basso - Liquigas Cannondale - GC
Michele Scarponi - Lampre ISD - GC
Amets Txurruka - Euskatel Euskadi - Polka Dot
Remy Di Gregorio - Cofidis Le Credit par Telephone - Polka Dot
Jelle Vandendert - Lotto Belisol - Polka Dot/ GC
Alejandro Valverde - Movistar Team - GC
J.J. Cobo - Movistar Team - Polka Dot
Rui Costa - Movistar Team - Polka Dot
Frederick Kessiakoff - Pro Team Astana - Polka Dot
Robert Kiserlovski - Pro Team Astana - GC/Polka Dot
Peter Velits - Omega Pharma Quickstep - Polka Dot/GC
Jerome Pineau - Omega Pharma Quickstep - Polka Dot
The White Jersey
(Some White jersey profiles courtesy of cyclingnews.com)
Tejay Van Garderen - BMC Racing Team
Tejay Van Garderen is an American with tons of potential. He is a decent climber and good time trialist, which with favor him over the other young riders. He is Evans' right hand man, which is a blessing and a curse. He will always be near the front, but might also be worked too hard to contend himself.
Wout Poels - Vaconsoliel DCM
First off it's Wout, not Wouter like Mr. Wynants. Poels has been making that unique name for himself ever since he surprised the world by climbing the torturous slopes of the Angliru in the 2011 Vuelta a España. He is explosive, but the time trialist oriented course might not suit him compared to a guy like Van Garderen.
Rein Taaramae - Cofidis le Credit par Telephone
Rein Taaramae has something that other riders don't. He is the leader for Cofidis. therefre, the whole team besides Moncoutie will be backing him up, instead of him backing a teamm leader up. That will give him the edge. He held white for a while last year, but he relinquished it do to crashes.
Steven Kruijswijk - Rabobank
Kruijswijk may be the strongets rider of the category, featuring an 8th place in last year's Giro to his name. However, his team is all in for Robert Gesink, so he might have the same dilemma as Van Garderen in that respect. However, he will get a little support, and should defintley contend if he doesn't have any crashes in his debut.
Other Contenders:
Thibault Pinot - FDJ Bigmat - Climbs
Gorka Izagire - Euskatel Euskadi - Climbs
Peter Sagan - Liquigas Cannondale - Strong Sprinter
Edvald Boasson Hagen - Team Sky Pro Cycling - Strong Sprinter
Anthony Roux - FDJ Bigmat - None
Dominik Nerz - Liquigas Cannondale - Climbs

Love ag2r and seriously good luck with JCP. The end of mountain stages are impossible to hold onto the favorites but you should be able to have a good go at limiting damage and then trying to pull it back in the time trials. Good luck and I hope you do better than me! |

Good luck with your first story baseball!! JCP is one of my favorite riders so i would love to see him do well in Le Tour!
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. Teach a man to cycle and he will realize fishing is stupid and boring.

Updated to feature Peraud. I wanna know what you guys think. I wanted to take a screen in spoilers of the riders profile and such, but for some reason they won't come up in my screen folder. Should I try to fix it or go on without it?

Maybe do a top-10 contenders for the Tour, or for each jersey? You don't have to use it, and I think you should relax a little. You seem really nervous about what you are doing, don't worry, even guys like valverde321 and mresuperstar started somwhere. Just keep doing what you want to do and it'll be a fun story!
