Jayco - Red Bull keep their lead in the Continental standings, but Rapha Condor - Qhubeka are still close having triumphed in the team's latest Stage Race battle - the Tour of Southland. The New Zealand race was most enjoyed by Bianchi though, with 2nd and 3rd in GC, as they start to move into a clear 3rd place and strengthen their promotion hopes.

California Giant only rode Bayern Rundfahrt, but a strong showing there is enough to keep them in the Top 4. Team Bpost take up the last definate promotion spot in 5th - but with the cobbles ending, it may be hard for them to stay there.

Very much on the up - at long last - are one of the pre-season promotion tips Pokerstars.com. 834 points from their 7 races in this period is the best of any team, and not bad considering 4 of those 7 were classics. Trilux, a Bennati-fuelled Puma, Rothaus and TCS Bank are also on the climb, putting pressure on Volkswagen and Aker as the battle for the lower promotion spots continues to hot up.

Going the other direction, Proximus and Pirelli fall from being the lower end of the Top 10, to the lower end of the Top 20, with Vespa and Emu also falling. Vespa enjoyed a great Giro, which obviously meant less continental racing, but they really need to start firing to avoid another dissapointing continental season.

Outside of the Top 20, Focused Cycling have done best recently, but Saab, Cyclevox and Meiji all made decent scores recently. Cerne remain bottom, but it is Oz Cycling who have now fallen down 4 spots to rank just above them.

Unsurprisingly, Jonathan Bellis keeps his Individual Rankings lead but Jose Alarcon has closed the gap after winning the Subida al Naranco. The Tour of Southland fires Bellis' teammate Froome up to 3rd, just ahead of the in-form Danniele Bennati - the winner in Moscow, Rogaland and Berlin.

Bpost join Rapha in having two riders in the Top 10: Albert and Vanspeybrouck. A notable contrast to division leaders Jayco-Red Bull, who only have 1 rider in the Top 29!

Great to see my top10 team goal was not that unrealistic. Hoping for better results to jump into.

Its all very close! Despite being 11th, youre closer to 23rd than 6th. Hard to tell how it will all play out, but hopefully it will remain close all the way

Can't be too bothered with the drop in the rankings with my trio participating in almost every race in the next couple of months or so!

- I believe top 10 will be difficult, but it should be durable if things start to go my way again.

I wonder who in the top has used the most/fewer race days, since I believe Pirelli got quite a few left Smile

Pellizotti2
Not too bad actually. With Caruso taking part in a few upcoming races I think we might move up slightly. A Top 20 at the end of the season should definitely be possible. Smile

TOP10 for Pirelli is a must IMO, especially Vespa and your team will climb up

My team finally broke into higher placings, but it´ll be very very hard to keep there, Rujano and Mohs must achieve as much points as possible in every single race!

Hmm, thought we would go down the table but did climb one place, hoping that we can score more points and climb up that table ofc.

I'm happy we're 8th now, hopefully we can take lots of points in June, despite terrible planning Pfft

After June, it will be all about keeping a top 10/12 placing, and I think we will need quite a gap down if we're going to hold on after June, as we're racing relatively little then.

Interesting to see Trilux up to 9th, they've done well in most classics they've participated in, meaning they probably got a great points/race day.

Nice update, SN! Will be very interesting to see which team who actually wins the CT this year. I've no clue about Bianchi's race days, but 500 points are quite a gap, but they could be that strong in the finale half of the season, I think.

Kessler, Haussler and Coyot did a good job, Wegmann was disappointing in most races he entered. But having only these 4 riders to get some bigger results i do not expect to keep 9th.

4th is better than I had hoped. I fear that Guatemala will be my undoing. I take heart in the inclusion of a D2 squad which indicates to me [speculation/] that there weren't many teams silly enough to risk a low return on a long stage race, but then again, I was silly enough to send my team to Guatemala without a well rounded rider. There are more hilly stages than mountain stages, so my bet is that it will be a shit fest, especially since the team I sent has several riders who can climb, but no-one suited to the hilly stages.

Keeping up my current points/race day ratio of around 25 will be hard in an unpredictable and long race.

I've fallen a bit behind. But hopefully June will be a huge month for us!

fenian_1234
Vespa need some wins. Definitely plenty of potential points there for us in the rest of the season. Pozzo being a stage racer should get a decent amount. Ginanni in the hills will be a bit more random. Season hinges on this and Carrara sneaking some points. Talking of which.....

I've got Carrara at Guatamala. Strangely, the CT race I'm most looking forward to. Hopefully, he's the kind of second teir leader that might come up big in Central America unless it goes to a break like Tachira did.

Smowz
Well Jayco Red Bull scored 2873 in the whole of last season, so delighted to have overtaken that. Of course it is amazing to still be leading the division - though as ever I am pretty sure Rapha have the race days in hand to comfortably start to overtake and gap us.

It's stage races and a smattering of classics for us in the next couple of months. As ever the classics are likely to be very hit and miss, with stage races having great strength in depth squads without a killer leader.

But certainly this is the time when we race the least in the CTour as we build towards the Tour de France.

A 5th in the rankings is just superb and though I don't expect to have too many hi ghscoring races from here on out I really hope that I scrape together enough points to remain in the top 10. My sponsor goal is a top 15 and if I can achieve that I will be incredibly pleased.

Great to see Vanspeybrouck finally near the top of the individual rankings but there aren't any more races this season where I expect him to score. For some reason I did not send him to Faso. Albert has been magnificent all season and I'm glad that he has received recognition for that. Maes on the other hand may find himself looking for a new contract next season.

Thanks for putting in the time to do this SN.

@beagle

Yeah it is quite important, but there is a pretty large gap up to top 10 again so the team will need to start winning if I want to achieve that goal.

- I believe pokerstars will have a decent shot at promotion, since especially Rujano showed his pedigree back in Castilla!
