The Continental Tour continues with hard mountain races. The Castilla y Leon is a perfect race for a strong stage racer combining climbing and time trial skills.
So 18 teams including many big names participate here. One interesting aspect is the abstinence of some of the biggest climbers like Valverde, Alarcon or Van Den Broeck. So more riders will get a good chance to win this race.
Biggest favourite is Jose Rujano.
The Venezuelan had a less successful season so far with some top 10 results but no big wins. He will surely try to prove the first critics wrong.
He will be mainly challenged by Tour of Taiwan winner
Krasnoperov,
the Venchi duo
Duarte & Pellizotti
and one of the Spanish hopes
Castano.
Also Eastman, Ratiy and Anton must be named in the list of race favourites as also Lövkvist, Lloret and Efimkin. Especially the three Spaniards should be extra motivated with all the support they will get during the stages.
Several teams have good riders with outsider chances for a good result with riders like Larsson, Ochoa, Nicacio or Martinez but surely they need a good day on the hard mountain stage as the time trial is too short to gain that much time back.
With two sprint stages and a not too hard looking hilly stage sprinters like
Allan Davis
JJ Haedo
Guillen
will surely aim for stage wins or the point jersey as also Lorenzetto, Dall`Antonia, Vingerling or Marinangeli.

I have som hopes for Larsson here, but the mountain stage looks like a killer for him, a top 15 would be nice. But we should feature in most breakaways, as it feels like we're having a pretty strong team here (compared to our team in previous races). |

A stage win would be nice. Hopefully Dall'Antonia and Capecchi can do something in the sprints and maybe Osella for a Top 10 on the mtf.
No expectations here though.

This will be an interesting one. Rujano will be tough to stop, but we can always hope for more breakaway success!
Sprinters might pick up some decent points here as well.

Have a good feeling about this one. Castaño has been the by far most consistent rider out of my star trio, and he should defiantly be strong enough to fight for a podium spot.
- Rujano is good but not unbeatable and his team looks quite weak something that can be a problem, with so many good riders who can put pressure on him.
Di Nucci will hopefully produce a couple of decent sprints, though it's mostly about Castaño - looking forward for your reports roturn!

now or never!
pretty strong start list, I think Rujano, Ratiy and Duarte are biggest guns and will fight for win (at least I hope...)

Hope for a nice result by Lövkvist and that Bjelkmark can hang on quite good too. |

Hopefully Anton gets enough motivation from the home crowds to lead him to the win Glad the startlist isn't to heavily stacked.

No Valverde here - suppose a tight squeeze with his race days and 'only' two stages he might win. Certainly the reason Vespa ducked this race.
Guillen to get himself in yellow, and Rujano to pace him up the climb on stage 3....

I can't say it sounds positive when you don't mention Ratiy among the favorites
I want 2 stage wins (TT by Schädlich and 1 more), and a top 3 from Ratiy

This field is stronger than I like. Hope Txurruka can mess up the favorites. This is my first race in a long time.

Startlist looks quite strong, was certainly a race on my shortlist but I was scared off when I saw Valverde signed up by a CTour team.
Should be interesting to see how attacking the climbers are on the mountain stage with the TT afterwards. Will Rujano and Duarte go all in given that they are decent TTers?
I think Lloret could be the winner here.

I'm hoping that the 1st 2 stages will come down to sprints, and not have breakaways win, something that my team hasn't been very good at doing recently.
Be interesting to see who comes out on top without Valverde and Alarcon here though. |

Wow what an unexpected result and a great win for Ferrari.
Good to see Eijzen trying to mix things up. Also Van den Eynde losing over 6 minutes on a flat stage...

Congratulations to Ferrari, clever move from Santambrogio. 2 minutes are also a nice gap, and he isn't the worst climber, nor the worst time trialist. Has Pokerstars given totally up on Rujano? |

Impressive effort there by Santambrogio. (if I spelled that wrong, I blame ember!)
Not too bad with a 7th, and also some attacking.

Nice win by Santambrogio, 2 min, I lack his stats, but he should loose that in the mountains, right?

Santambrogio is 66MO and 68TT. And thanks to the bonus seconds he got, I think he can loose 3 minutes to the winner of stage 3, and still be a strong contender for the overall podium. Definitely a great move from him! |

Considering that he is minimum 14 stats below the best here he should loose those 3 minutes, but he could be able to fight for the top, I'm usually wrong in my predictions :-p

I would bet Santambrogio won't even manage to hold on to the Top 5
He will loose all the gap on the mountain stage as it's long, tricky and the climbers have to get their gap there before the TT stage
Some of the climbers aren't bad at TT whilst some are worse climbers then Rujano but better then Santambrogio and are better at TT then Rujano and Santambrogio
