Garmin - 4th season Giro d`Italia
roturn
After several attempts to convert my PCM10 story savegame I stopped it as there are too many new tables and coloumns. Would be much too much work.
So I decided to do the more important transfers like Cavendish->Liquigas, Sagan->HTC... and just converted my Garmin team.
At least all riders and stats, limits are PCM Daily ones as all other riders also get these limits.

Database: Selfmade, ~200 top rider stats/limits of ASO 2010 savegame, other riders PCM Daily 2011 V1 as also PCM Daily V1 races and variants...
Patch: 1.0.4.4
Difficulty: extreme (hard till Down Under stage 3)
Developing speed: 0,2

As you might have seen in my PCM10 story I updated my roster with many US Americans. Now 10/30 riders are from America. Lots of them from BMC. Wink
Therefore they got Talansky from me. He would have been a nice addition but with already 30 riders in my PCM10 savegame there was no spot left, but surely he might come back as also Van Garderen is still a aim in future.

Here the link to the 2010 story: https://pcmdaily.c...d_id=14670

Team Presentation

Climbers & Stage Racer

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11-Jan/climber.jpg

Dan Martin is our best climber and is aiming the Giro d`Italia again for a podium result there. Young American Peter Stetina became more and more our 2nd best pure climber and is pretty similar to him.
For the other GT`s it`s Sanchez for the Vuelta again and Hesjedal aiming the Tour top10 with Fuglsang`s help. Hesjedal doesn`t longer need to concentrate on the Ardennes too much and can fully train for the Tour de France.
And young gun Löw improved a lot and might bring some results in his 3rd pro season. He has still lots to learn on the time trial machine but he is talented enough,

Puncheurs

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11-Jan/Puncheur.jpg

Nicolas Roche will take the Ardennes task this season. He might be stronger than Hesjedal on the small climbs and proved his abilities with several top10`s in the last years. He will be supported by Vansummeren and Kessiakoff in these terrain.

Sprinters

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11-Jan/Sprinter.jpg

Here we have a luxus problem. Although Rojas left us towards Astana we still have 3 great sprinters. One for every GT then.
Tyler Farrar will aim the Giro, Heinrich Haussler the Tour and Matthew Goss the Vuelta.
But also Baris Dao improved and might start to win smaller races. Rowe and Murphy might be a big help in the sprint trains.

Time Trialists

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11-Jan/timetrialists.jpg

Former ITT World Champion Lars Boom our strongest weapon here as he is a real allrounder. Also Bobridge and Meyer will show good skills this season.
Our star transfer next to Roche was surely Taylor Phinney. He is already a good time trialist but still some room to improve.
Pate and Bookwalter will be a good addition in team trials.

Cobblers

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11-Jan/cobbler.jpg

Star cobbler in our team surely Maaskant, but also 2 time winner in Gent Wevelgem Johan Vansummeren is a good bet in the Flanders Classics. Haussler might be the best out of a group in a sprint finish.
With Boom, Felline and Van Der Velde they will have great support.

Helpers

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11-Jan/helpers.jpg

Not to forget the important helpers. Kreder proved his abilities last season and will take the next step. Duggan and Peterson are important uphill domestiques and will be the last helpers in the GT mountains. With Butler and Barton we signed two American climbing talents.
And not to forget Yann Souchon, the 3rd in last years U23 ranking and one of the biggest stage racer talents.

Goals

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11-Jan/Goals.jpg

Our goals are pretty tough but definitely possible with our team. Winning Paris-Nice is already a personal goal for LL Sanchez, so he might be our man there.
Top 3 Tirreno Adriatico will be for one of our other climbers or maybe even Roche then.
And winning the 3 classics Milan San Remo, Gent-Wevelgem and RondeVan Vlaanderen will be something for Haussler, Vansummeren, Maaskant and also Goss for the first one.

Next to these goals our sponsors expect good results in the 3 GT`s, especially in the Giro and Vuelta.

i only caught some of your 2010 story roturn...mainly due to me not bothering with the 2010 threads as i have only played 2011 and the impressive lengths of some stories...but i saw enough of that story to make me click pretty quickly when i saw this appear in the threads!

just an awesome layout you got going! practice sure makes perfect Smile

Thanks all. I haven`t expected so many posts before the first race report. Wink
But it`s a good motivation of course.
Good to see some old story readers here and also some that are pretty new to my Garmin story. Wink

I made some more stat changes to be more similar to my 2010 story, so some averages in the top5 riders are wrong.
Example is to have Rodriguez weaker and no longer a GT challenger. Also Voeckler or Rolland are weaker as they don`t have the Tour de France bonus.
Therefore Pauriol and Vaugrenard are much stronger in the hills.

It`s a pity that I can`t have all stats and limits from my story as it was well balanced. But without getting all riders converted this would be too much work as I can`t copy the whole stat coloumns in one move.

Question: How to change National and World Champions? It`s different to PCM10 and there are just weird coloumns with Hushovd -97 and many riders another number. I thought it`s for the National arm stripes, but wasn`t sure where to find the correct numbers. I want to change it into my story championships.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11-Jan/AUSRR-logo.jpg

With a new season starting it`s always the Australian Championships coming first. This year we start with the road race before heading to the time trial specialists.
The route is quite hilly, but with no big team here, the pace won`t be too high and also the sprinters are expected to do good here.

Garmin squad
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11-Jan/AUSRR-2.jpg
With Haussler and Goss we have two big race favourites here. Both of them aim a sprint finish or a sprint out of a small group. Bobridge and Meyer are more focussing the time trial and will support their leaders here as also Rowe. On the other hand Meyer proved that he is capable of winning the road race as he showed in previous seasons.

Australian championships
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11-Jan/AUSRR-1.jpg
In a sprint it will be hard to beat the Garmin duo and Davis might be the biggest contender, but with Evans, Rogers, Gerrans, Porte or Sutherland there are stronger puncheurs here and they shouldn`t be allowed to get a gap on the hills here.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11-Jan/AUSRR-3.jpg
9 riders in the break. Most teams have their rider here. With Robbie McEwen and Leigh Howard two sprinters are in this group looking for the long way win.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11-Jan/AUSRR-4.jpg
Brent Rowe immediately makes the work in the peloton as Garmin has no one in the group.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11-Jan/AUSRR-5.jpg
Richie Porte tries it with a mid stage attack with still 90km to go. He is able to join the group while Garmin is holding it under 3min.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11-Jan/AUSRR-6.jpg
Sutherland, Rogers and Davis are the next with 60km to go. Now it becomes a real cycling race. The attacks become more and more dangerous.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11-Jan/AUSRR-7.jpg
Maybe too dangerous. Bobridge and Meyer supported the Garmin pace train and with 30km the groups are together again. Time for more attacks or waiting for the final sprint?

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11-Jan/AUSRR-8.jpg
Garmin is trying to hold the pack together and make a very fast pace now. Haussler and Goss both feeling average today but still are the fastest sprinters here.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11-Jan/AUSRR-9.jpg
With 24km to go more attacks. Some riders wouldn`t have a chance in a sprint and must try this. It`s the number one, Cadel Evans for his new Movistar team initiating a new group. Obviously it wasn`t enough for him riding as helper under Andy, Gesink and on one step with Gerdemann and Porte.
Sutherland, Gerrans and Clarke complete this strong group.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11-Jan/AUSRR-10.jpg
Haussler now has to follow. Also Rogers and surprisingly Baden Cooke attacked and are close to the first four riders. Goss stays in the peloton for a sprint finish.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11-Jan/AUSRR-11.jpg
Too late. Baden Cooke brings Saxobank the first win of the season and him the National jersey. He outsprints Evans and Gerrans easily while Haussler is sprinting on the 6th ahead of Clarke as both weren`t able to close the gap to the first.
Goss as 8th leads the peloton over the line.
Although Garmin showed a good performance all over the stage it wasn`t enough in the end.
