Just thought i'd start a thread for the sake of it, every so-often i'll post the name of an off-contract cyclist (contract expiring at the end of the year) and what you have to do is post what team you think they'll sign for. At the end, i'll give you the results of which team this forum (Or atleast the people who participate in this) thinks the rider will sign for as a 'prediction', and see if that rider actually signs for that team, Kind of similar to Mresuperstar's Favourite team and cyclist competitions in a way.
(Feel free to go into detail if you want)
The First rider: Phillipe Gilbert (OLO)
I personally think he'll sign for Team BMC, or CCC-polsat
EDIT: I was originally going to make it a poll, but I would really be limited to doing this for one rider, then opening a new thread, new poll etc. So I did this so I could do other riders such as Langveld, Cavendish, Pozzato etc.

BMC Team seems a decent choice for Gilbert. They have a nice team aswell, but not as good as Omega Pharma had with Vanendert and Van Den Broeck in the classics. Another guess would be Astana, but that I don't think it would be the best team for Gilbert. |

I hope he will stay with Lotto, together with Greipel, Vanendert & Van den Broeck.. But I don't know if it's still possible |

I don't see Gilbert with Ballan. I think he will stick with Omega/Lotto/Quick Step.
Any chance to go to Skil or Garmin?

It's because of this I think Astana might be Gilbert's team. Last year I even remember seeing Vino with Gilbert in the Vuelta together. And they have the money for him, but not the best team. |

In that do you mean (for next year, of course) Omega-Pharma Quickstep or Team Lotto?

No, he definetly won't got to Skil, that's as likely as Cavendish winning the Tour Garmin have a few classics guys to back him up quite well, and I also agree I don't think he'd go well with Ballan or Hushovd, considering Hushovd said he wants to lead BMC team at the Paris-Roubaix next year.

I mean Team Lotto, I can't stand Lefevre or Boonen so I definitely hope he won't go to Omega Pharma-Quickstep.. |

Astana, because they have the money and lacks leader for classics.

It was just a thought. They will need some names next season.

True, Hushovd'll be with BMC! I don't see Ballan working for Hushovd in the cobbles...

Oh right, Lefevre has quite a big 'ego', dont really know if I actually like him or not.

Yeah, they've basically got Degenkolb and possibly Tony Martin also. Ballan went to BMC to have others work for him, so he may not agree with Hushovd joining.

I don't see Ballan working for himself anywhere.

Ballan has reasonable chances to be suspended for some months, like Cunego.
That'd leave some room for Gilbert at BMC. I see him more at BMC than at Astana, although the Kazakh team remains a credible (and regrettable) possibility.
I don't see him with Boonen at Super Quick Step, and can't really see him in a non PT team or minor one. |

Is it more regrettable to see him in Astana than in Phonak 2.0?
Imo he'll sign for BMC, but I think Astana has a strong chance too. After all, BMC has already leaders for the cobbles (Hushovd) and the Ardennes (Evans), while Astana has nothing, and needs points.
