That's a pretty solid list of riders right there, a bit all over the place but it would make a decent TDF squad if it just had a couple more riders.
Yeah that's the list of big names not riding in one of the upcoming classics.
Look at that list again, looks fairly short doesn't it.
This summer (in January) I will bring the best riders, in the widest variety of terrain the continental tour has to offer. We shall criss cross Europe to visit all the biggest classics.
Yet the races aren't enough in themselves. On top of this we have the fight for promotion where any of 15 team could realistically sit at cycling's top table next season. And the next week will go a long way into deciding.
So without further ado I bring you the races:
First up in Italy we have the Giro di Lago di Garda.
This Italian race brings out the best of the Continental puncheurs so expect a battle to the death over the rolling terrain. Italy's finest are out in force with Ginanni, Ponzi, Pozzato and Ricco. However despite these stellar riders home victory is not assured as we have Claeys, Efimkin, Monfort and Gilbert all out to spoil the party. Does it get any better than that?

Yeah, it gets better than that in the very next race. The San Sebastian Classic keeps every single one of the names I just mentioned yet somehow adds to it. Schumacher and Kirchen join the foreigners, while expect Cobo, Gil and Ventoso to gee up Spanish hopes
The first of 2 Spanish HC classics, San Sebastian offers the most distinguished winners rostrum of any race in the calender, so expect to see absolutely every rider do their utmost to ensure they get to lift the trophy at the end of the day

The road flattens as we head north theScandinavian Race Uppsala is next on the agenda.
The sprinters have come to town today, specifically the town of Uppsala, and en masse they will be looking for victory. I am trying to draw the line at the list of favourites yet I can't find anywhere to stop. Napolitano, Goss, Hushovd, Cavendish and Ciolek are the best in the buisness so have to be there. However Van Heerden, Markov, Casper, Haedo, Brown and Greipel can never be ruled out in a sprint. D'Amore, Chicci, Ok I'll stop now but really this is anyone's game so expect drama all the way to the finish

We jump back to Spain now for the Urkiola Igoera.
This Mountainous classic is one of just two on the calender and yet again, all the big climbers are here.
Ikea have both Taaramae and Alarcon, Bacardi have Ricco and Kirchen, yet Kirchen is only about 30th favourite. Pellizotti, Kohl and Krasnoperov are the other big favourites, although Spaniards such as Lopez Garcia, Anton and Perez Sanchez will expect to score big as well.

La Poly Normandie and things keep getting more interesting, this time we aren't ever sure what type of rider will win it.
Goss, Kennaugh, Davis, Casper and Haedo are all aiming for the sprint, and it seems unlikely that with so many teams backing that option anything else will hapen, however Vespa have pulled out their classics squad, and if they put someone down the road, well lets just say it's game on

We get a small break, before the two clashing hilly classics, the first of which is the Tour of Pendle
Most teams have gone big in France, however for the 6 teams here, this race is important. Claeys, Gilbert and Caruso will lead the charge, however the locals need not worry, as Froome will be there and ready to deliver.

Ginanni, Efimkin and Monfort are the strongest here on paper, however this French race will have something up it's sleave. Whether it's Ponzi or Kolobnev pulling out a big move, or a local rider, Roux or Calzati perhaps the only thing to expect is the unexpected.

Very nice preview to read. What a loaded field again. But i should be able to get some good results (hopefully )
Any particular reason why Bacardi isn't on the startlist of Giro di Lago di Garda? Should be in it as you pointed out Ricco, but just to be sure.

LEGO has to perform in these classics, otherwise the dream of the Protour will fall into small (LEGO) pieces

No reason, I swear I'm not deliberately missing you out. Again, you will be in the race.

Damn! I knew I should have picked Adam Blythe for all these hilly races - and he would have dominated Urkiola!
--
For whatever reason, I opted to dodge the likes of di Garda and San Sebastian at the start of the year. So just Pendle for Froome to focus on, plus a couple of sprint lotteries for Cav and Kennaugh to no doubt fail in.

Great Preview of the races!
Our biggest chance is in our home race in Uppsala but it´s a lot of great sprinters there but it´s our season goal to win here. But in Giro Di Lago and San Sebastian we hope that Wyss can surprise a little to make a good result or maybe in Fyen Rundt. |

Mb: Superb preview here.
One issue the Red Bull team for Urkola as I have it is:
Jianhua Ji
Luis Felipe Laverde Jimenez
Michael Matthews
VÃctor Hugo Orozco
Edwin Parra Bustamante
Julián Rodas
Adam Semple
Konstantin Siutsou
That is Franklin Chacon is replaced by Siutsou. I wouldn't mind but this is quite a major change.

Huh, in my copy of the Race Planners Siutsou is not in the race, he seems to be racing:
Hood, Langkawi, Castilla Leon, Portugal and America, making 50 race days.
Is there an error somewhere?

Siutsou is in Urkiola in my copy of the planner - and that hasnt been edited since last May.

To be fair it cam from my error back in May - with Siutsou double booked in Mt hood and Catalunya.
So Siutsou was withdrawn from the Mt Hood race and SN kindly allowed me to redicstribute him elsewhere namely the Philly Classic (already raced), this race Urkola and the japan cup I think.
Anyway back to the racing, the Italian race will certainly be a good battle between those Italians and Gilbert. I would say the fairly difficult parcours would favour Ricco over the other riders but you never really know with the hilly ones.
mb: Super pace of reporting as well - if anyone knows how hard it is to keep a SN pace like of reporting it is me - it takes a lot of work - sorry if I am putting spanner in the works with the Siutsou thing!

Thanks, the Siutsou thing is no problem, there is no point doing this if the startlists are wrong, so if I make any mistakes people should correct them

Did you mention the stats boost Ginanni has been given after he hooked up with a highly regarded doctor ex-team mate Bernucci introduced him to? |

Sorry, I thought that was meant to be kept on the down low. I'll edit it in to the Garda race report

Bernucci did that? Well he could also use a lot of dope...seems top 20 is the best the team can hope for.
