It has been a while since the CTours last hilly High Category classic on the opening day of the season in South Africa.
What a wonderful field we have here in the United States to tackle this demanding circuit based classic in Philly.
The main difficulty is the Manuyunk Wall which will have to be tackled by the field 10 times and should cause quite a selection. The finale however could end in a field sprint as it comes some distance after the medium Logan Circle and Lemon Hill difficulties.
Back to that field then...

A top 5 here would be really nice, but as I suspect with all remaining one day hilly classics, none of them are gunna be easy to get lots of points in. |

I guess either Gilbert, Schumacher, Ponzi or Pozzato. Hope for a top 10 though, which should be doable. Will be interesting to see though, solo or a group sprint?

A podium result would be awesome, a top 5 would be really nice, but as everyone expected here is really strong field, here are nearly all of the best hill riders in the CT. I need some good luck, Efimkin can be quite easily outside of the top 10 too.
I guess Gilbert will repeat his win from the last year.

Haha Bernucci really has to take some drugs if he wants to have a chance in this field...Well I can only hope that he can do a miracle and take a unlikely top 10 spot.

He was awesome, I will admit wacko, I was wrong in my pre season review Gilbert is totally worth it!
Not sure I got across how brilliant Gilbert rode there - he just kept attacking and attacking until Ricco etc. were off his wheel! |

You just never know with those races - thought they were all just going to sit up after the final climb and have a 10+ man group sprint. Good win for Gilbert. |

Better than i've hoped for, happy with the result.
My first goal coming up to, Tre Valli Varesine, with Kirchen and Ricco. I need a win, but i doubt that will happen. Final hill is way to short unless a miracle happens.
Edit: Attack of the cobra – oh I forgot he don’t like that name anymore!
I can assure you, he still does .

Seems I might need to find a better classic rider for the next season.

It is so tough to get hold of a decent rider for these, you have to consider the wage of riders like Ricco, Pozzato, Gilbert etc.
You either have to splash out huge, develop a guy or perhaps find a decent transfer deal out there.
What should be good for you rycadinho that you may well get to seal some of your goals giving some cash to do something! |

Well I expect to complete 3/5 goals now, since my "end as 10 or better in the continental tour" seems a bit too much to expect from my riders. I don't expect this to give me shitloads of money, but it shouldn't be that bad considered I at least would complete more than half of my goals.
I could suspect that a small amount of new teams in 2012 would perhaps make the free agent riders a bit cheaper, but I really don't know to be honest. If not will it perhaps be necessary to splash out a lot of money on transfers but time will tell us.
