Star riders

Phillippe Gilbert

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM10%20OPL/Gilbert.jpg

Gilbert will be our main focus of the season. His goals this year are for a few wins in the Ardennes classics and also good finishes in the cobbled classics. Also we hope to hold the yellow jersey in the TDF and red jersey in the Vuelta Espana.

Leif Hoste

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM10%20OPL/hoste.jpg

Hoste will be our main man for the cobbled classics, with Gilbert here to help him we expect some very good results and finally for him to show he can win a cobbled classic.

Jurgen Van Den Broeck

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM10%20OPL/vandenbroeck.jpg

Van Den Broeck, a rider who has been in the shadows of Cadel Evans of the past years, but with Evans moved on we expect him to show his talent, we hope he can finish comfortably in the top 10 in this years TDF.

The Breakaway

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM10%20OPL/PCM0001.png

A strong break got away of 14 riders, this was a dangerous group that threatened to make it to the finish, but with good work from HTC and Quickstep the break was caught with 10km to go. They only managed to get a max gap of 7'00 mins.

2km to go

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM10%20OPL/PCM0002.png

With 2km to go the Omega Pharma train looks the strongest with Blythe leading out Roelandts, this was after Lowik work hard to get the upper hand for the team.

Finish

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM10%20OPL/PCM0003.png

No surprise for the winner, Mark Cavendish, Roelandts and Omega Pharma were ready to celebrate wth 500m to go but Cavendish came out of nowhere we a magnificent turn of speed, Roelandts 2nd and Greame Brown of Rabobank 3rd, brilliant sprint by him.

Good lead out from Lowik and Blythe put our sprinter Roelandts in a brilliant position, but the manxman proved why he was the best sprinter in the world, The team are very pleased with 2nd looking who we lost out too.

Stage 2

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM10%20OPL/TDU2.jpg

After a good 2nd place on stage 1, we hope we can go one better in todays stage.

The Breakaway

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM10%20OPL/PCM0002-1.png

The break consisted of 9 riders, another large dangerous break, this consisted of our man Tom Stubbee, who took the only KOM points today. the break got a lead of 5'00 mins on the peleton.

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM10%20OPL/PCM0003-1.png

The peleton work together to chase the break, with Omega Pharma doing some of the work after we realised that the break wasn't working, the last of the break was caught with 15km to go.

2km to go

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM10%20OPL/PCM0004.png

Our lead out train with Blythe finishing his job, the rest of the main sprinters decided thye would sit on Roelandts wheel, which put us under abit of pressure to get the lead out right.

Finish

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM10%20OPL/PCM0005.png

A win for Tyler Farrar ahead of Greame Brown and our man Jurgen Roelandts, manxman Mark Cavendish came a distant 4th, which was a surprise.

Summary

A little dissapointed after yesterdats result, I thought our lead out train was the perfect platform for the rival sprinters, this can be worked on.

2nd and 3rd is not bad. Roelandts is not a top sprinter.

janne_837
By now, nice results. Stage 3 will be funny

cuxu
I think one of your riders should take Roelandts wheel.

My overall GC contender for this race is Matt Lloyd so tomorrow will be very difficult. Thanks to everyone for commenting and viewing, when I look at the number of views it motivates me Smile

I don't know which opponents are there, but if there are big guns like the Schlecks, Evans, Arvesen etc., a Top 10 in stage 3 would be ok ;D

Stage 3

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM10%20OPL/TDU3.jpg

Our leader for this race Matt Lloyd will be hoping to get the first Aussie win for this years race, he faces stiff competition in Franck Schleck, previous winner Martin Elmiger and Karsten Kroon.

The Breakaway

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM10%20OPL/PCM0001-1.png

The break contained our man Mario Aerts, the break worked well together but the peleton had other ideas, the max time gap recoreded was 2'00 mins before it was wheeled back in.

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM10%20OPL/PCM0003-2.png

The peleton just after the break was caught, HTC were the main team pushing the pace to catch the riders out front.

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM10%20OPL/PCM0005-1.png

Another break of 4 riders formed, they were left to dangle out there for much of the race with the gap remaining around 2'00 mins, they were eventually wheeled back with 25km to go.

Attacks

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM10%20OPL/PCM0007.png

First attacks of the race, started by Grega Bole, he was followed by Matt Lloyd, Franck Schleck, Yaroslav Popoyvch and Martin Elmiger, a short while later Karsten Kroon bridged the gap.

Finish

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM10%20OPL/PCM0010.png
