Cheers MB for this preview
The final race for the CT this month is the Giro di Sardegna, a race which is best described as anyone's game. A break may well get away, we may find a very random group of riders winning on the hilly stage, or there may be no gaps and it comes down to the best sprinter.
Sprinters
Napolitano is the quickest man here, and Unicredit have put everything into trying to make sure he ends up on top, with four supporting sprinters also in the team, competition will likely come in the form of Santander, with Ventoso, Guerao and Galdos all potential stage winners. Impey and Bozic are the best of the rest.
Hills
Ginanni and Ponzi are the strongest hilly riders in this race, while Kolobnev, Ventoso and Lloyd will be the leaders for their teams. 100% Me have brought a 3 strong attack of Roche, Froome and Martin, while Wiggle continue to show their depth with 4 strong riders around to back up Ponzi, that said, this hilly stage ends in a 20km flat section, which will favour Ventoso and Ponzi, with their added strength on the flat.
Overall
I suspect this race will come down to a large lead group sprinting it out for the win, with bonus seconds deciding the overall champion. Then it comes down to how big the group is, and whether any of the riders involved can get bonus seconds on other stages. Also stage 2 seems open for an enterprising late attacker to get away from the pack and take a solo victory.
I have a feeling that Ponzi will have enough in the tank to take the victory here, although after that the results are harder to predict.

Italy baby! I hope Loddo and Bernucci can make me proud but since Loddo has been terrible so far, then the others must be active in breakaways too.

Any chance of the startlist rjc?
Good to see the CT return. Should be a tasty race this with the likes of Wiggle, Vespa, 100% Me, Cillit Bang and some of the early pace setters like Pendletons, Sport Lisboa and Mercedes involved. |

It should be a good race. I'm hoping Impey's 73 hill stat helps him not get dropped but tbh our best chance is probably stealing a breakaway stage win, or KOM points |

Hoping for something from bozic or cherel, but i have a really weak squad here. Juame Rovira, Sijmens and Vorganov should be good for leadouts or the breaks.

Whats the button in game to get the menu up so I can export a startlist? It's been a while since I've played any PCM, and as this is only the second time I'm playing 09... yeah. Not sure what it is!

Looks like this one will be decided in the opening three stages. Stage 1 looks too hilly for sprinters like Loddo and even Gatto, mind you plenty of Sprinters around that can climb including a number of Italians.
Stage 2 is going to be tough to call, I guess a smallish group can come to the end and positioning will be key. It may help to have a decent team.
Stage 3 looks like the hills are early again would suggest a smallish group comes to the line. The last two should end in sprints though the terrain still isn't flat enough for some of the bulky sprinters in my view.
Ponzi looks well favoured on GC, but riders like Ventuso, Impey and Gasperotto need to be dropped. On the other end of the scale Ginanni of course is strong enough to drop anyone on the hills. Meanwhile 100% Me have their hilly boys to try and break things up.
My predo... (I say it like that to annoy Waghlon on the subject what a pathetic squad Cillit Bang have sent )
1. Ventuso
2. Ponzi
3. Roche
4. Ginanni
5. Kolobnev

Ginanni (though it's more likely to be Proni) to sprint for the moutain points on Stage 2, then stay away opening a big enough gap to win the race. |

Great win by Loddo! I must say I'm very happy that he finally managed to anticipate in a sprint but to even win it is even better. I fear that he will suffer in the next stage because of the hill close to the finish, but a day in yellow is more than I expected before the race!

Great work rjc.
Good to See Impey in 3rd, now becoming the teams most successful rider ever. Just hope he can hang on over the next few stages |

Although i have a b-team here, without any of my big names, i did expect Gajek to atleast sprint or something.

Yeah, the second, and possibly the third stage will be posted tonight/today. But I'm back into surgery tomorrow morning, so who knows when I'll next get to my laptop. Possibly not till saturday.
