With it being just 2 days away, it's about time we started a topic for one of the biggest classics of the year!
also, this race has a very good poster

Italian classics warning for the general public:
IT'S ON SATURDAY
Hopefully that'll avoid the usual trillion people posting "Waaaaaah I missed it. Thought it was on Sunday"
The preceding post is ISSO 9001 certified
"I love him, I think he's great. He's transformed the sport in so many ways. Every person in cycling has benefitted from Lance Armstrong, perhaps not financially but in some sense" - Bradley Wiggins on Lance Armstrong

I kinda hope the rumors about Cavendish not being 100% are true. GO BENNATI! |

Theyre not really rumours, its fairly clear from his performances that Cavendish is not in the same shape he was this time last year

I love this:
About Bennati:
Last year the Italian finished sixth, so the power to survive the climbs and sprint is there and with Nibali, Kreuziger, Pellizotti and the under-rated Quinziato for support he'll have one of race’s strongest teams.
Who's underrating him? You cyclingnews, you. No one else has.
Why he can't win: Is he faster than Boonen or Petacchi? Nine times out of ten the answer is no and despite showing glimmers of form he’s still not the same rider he was in 2006 and 2007.
Yeah, he had a pretty naff year, and only just started to get back to any form last year. Course Petacchi and Boonen beat him a lot. This year, do I need glasses, or did Bennati win over Petacchi and Boonen in Tirreno? I mean, yeah Boonen did win one back, but Boonen is in some serious form.
About EBH:
He's the new 'Cannibal', isn't he?
Sigh.
About Pozzato:
Of all the classics, Milan-San Remo best suits Pozzato's style of racing
Really? Seriously? I mean, sure, he's good at MSR, but surely a 2nd in Paris-Roubaix means something?

Oh I never take the previews of cyclingnews seriously
Why would you? For example, everytime Tom Danielson enters a stage race, they name him as one of the top favorites. While others who are much better are put in as "other contenders might be".
They are more biased than me with dutchies and norwegians with Hagen |

Yes, race results and pictures are great but they often write a lot of rubbish in their reports and previews

According to PCM
1 Tyler Farrar Garmin - Transitions 7h20'40
2 Edvald Boasson Hagen Sky Professional Cycling Team s.t.
3 Gerald Ciolek Team Milram s.t.
4 Mark Cavendish Team HTC - Columbia s.t.
5 Murilo Fischer Garmin - Transitions s.t.
6 Anthony Geslin Française des Jeux s.t.
7 Daniele Bennati Liquigas - Doimo s.t.
8 André Greipel Team HTC - Columbia s.t.
9 Tom Boonen Quickstep s.t.
10 Óscar Freire Rabobank s.t.
Somehow, I doubt that. |

I got really high expentations for Vaugrenard this year. He showed growing form in Tirreno, but is still unstable. Me dream is that he go off with Ignatiev and smashes him in the sprint as a revenge for last year's Bastille Day.

Who cares? (although Geslin should give away the team) Seriously. It's not like the result is anything more realistic on other levels |

Somehow every time I play Milano - San Remo in PCM it ends with a late brakeaway with the likes of Cancellara, Devolder, Boonen etc. |
