Game does not start anymore
MrRRC
As I've already mentioned in the heading my PCM game does not start anymore. When I start the game it loads and there's a black screen then and I get the error message that says PCM.exe has found a problem and has to be closed.

were you able to play the game before it started to crash?

Yes, I was able to play the game before it crashed. I'm currently using the PPDB GIant DB but I think that's not the problem.

Your save might be broken. Have you tried to remove it?
If that solved the problem, you might be able to continue your career with the automatic backup created by the game. It has the same name as the save and a ~ at the end. If you remove the ~ you can load it as any other save.

Thanks for the advance but unfortunately it doesnt work :/

What do you mean?

If you delete the PCM-folder in My Documents (or rename it to something else, e.g. PCM1), and then launch the game - does it work?

I renamed the PCM folder in My Documents and the game works fine, but now I have two folders in My Documents, the one that I renamed and another one that was automatically created when I started the game. Do I have to install the DB again? Because in the new folder my game looks like after the installation.

The fact that it works show that your save game has been messed up / corrupted.

So, basically, you can delete the new folder, rename the old one to Pro Cycling Manager (as it was before), and delete the PCM/Database/Solo folder. This will delete your save games, but the game will work.

Your save was broken, so it was useless. But most probably you could have saved your career. (Which I tried to tell you.)
I do not know why mike told you to delete everything, as the backup works in 99% of all cases. So you can thank him for destroying your career and of course yourself for not backing up your data in the first place.

just do systemrecovery and go back 1 day.
takes about 10 min and your system will be as it was 1 day ago.
ou will only use 1 day of data.

save everything you have done that day to external HD

and voila your save is saved

He said: "Thats [thanks] for the advance [advice] but unfortunately it doesnt work :/"

I take that as he did try the trick of renaming the save game backup, but that it didn't work.

You are posting in a thread which has many tips how to fix such a problem, did you try any of them?

wel could be a lot of stuff. i would advise you do relocate all save games. So My docs are empty & then reboot the system. check if you can run your games now
