Thanks guys! I have actually just finished the last stage, but will not be able to get the report up until Sunday or Monday because I will be in Harrisburg PA for our Cross Country NCAA regional championships, and will not have internet access from laptop.
Thanks!

Tour of Qatar Stage 6 2.6 - Upset Alert?
Well, today is a happy day for me. Flat racing just isn't my thing, and getting out of Qatar makes me happy. I have nothing against this fabulous place, but its just plain and too hot for me here. The final stage had come down to being able to win the stage, the race itself was over.
The only way the race would not be over is if somehow somebody upset the underdog. You don't hear that phrase too often. Jacky Durand would have many riders in his corner and at a moments notice they could assist him. It would take alot of hard work and luck for anyone else to capture the win, but nobody ruled it out.
As stated a few times before, the real race was going to be the points competition. There are a few riders that are going to be sprinting it out for the last few points to get the win. The general team classification was also up for grabs, with many overall season points on the line still.
-~-~-~-~-~
It was a relatively calm race at the start, everyone was riding in a group with Celesio up front protecting.
There were many break attempts and there was no way that the pack was letting them get to far ahead. However, as the race went on, it seemed like there were teams turning on Celesio. The success they have had the first few races was aggravating the main field. They stopped caring. A 12 rider break got out. Among them some popular break riders this tour: Cristi M, popkorn, Camacho, Failu, and more.
As the race went on there was no action at all. 60km to go and a 3:00 lead. All of Celesio was up front, and that is what it looked like it was going to take. There was no help coming at all as if the main field quit. Citigroup and Rabobank were riding in the middle together, but not putting forth any effort to help in the chase.
At 40km to go there was just a 2:00 lead. A puncture was seen in the main field, but it turned out to be a Zuno rider who would never recover, and in fact get lapped at the very end of the race, interfering in the finish sprint. 1:00 lead with 25km to go! Jacky Durand is set to win!
Or was he? Celesio was burnt, after giving everything they had, there was still nobody else helping. at 5km to go, it was a 1:20 lead. Yes, it was going to happen. Nothing would be settled in the sprint, as it looks like the break is going to win. The points classification now has no impact because the favorites are so far back.
Coming to the line we have 12 break riders in a sprint, this is crazy. They probably would not gain enough distance to beat Jacky Durand, but this is surely a disappointing finish. Anybody ever heard of harry? The extreme dark horse brings New Belgium a surprising win.
What an unpredictable finish to an extremely unpredictable race. On to the next one!

Jacky Durand with a nice win for the team.
Tissot should have done more to win that sprint and GC.
Kind of a pity that there is no sprinter in our team, so it`s even better to take the GC in Qatar. |

@Lachi & roturn - There have yet to be any comments from any teams as they are either still resting or thinking of what to say or how they think the race went for them

Not a good race for Exxonmobil, we need to step up before the cobbled season!
Nice try by Alastairhufc in thge last stage, but it was not enough and noone in the top30 in GC is a disaster. Mainly Avin Wargunnson was rather disappointing.

Tour of Qatar Post Race 2.7 - Out of Qatar
Maybe the heart is overdoing it. I cannot say that I will miss it here, because I most likely won't, and I think the riders agree. They just wanted to rest, and most of them would get that while their teammates get ready for Oman.
There are quite a few team leaders making debuts at this race, which surely should be more impressive. What he have learned so far this season is that there really are no favorites. Christer, who won the season opener, came 76th in Qatar. Of course they are 2 totally different races, with a time trial, so we can't compare too much.
Not too many teams had much to say, as they were hanging low and getting ready for their next race. I will have the start-list for Oman updated very soon, probably tomorrow at some point. So this is where I ask for the opinions of the followers, the readers watching the daily members go at it.
Can Celesio continue to improve as they have been the first 2 races, proving they are one of the best. What about Citigroup, can they finally come through with a stage win? Bunzl was fairly laid back in the second race, but still sit atop the team standings.
And the individual riders, who will be an early favorite to win Oman, which strategies will certain teams take to ensure they are in the best position when it comes to the high class races. There are any questions left unanswered, and they should all start coming together in the next few races. I am excited to get some one day classics in soon also!
Watch for the Oman preview sometime on Saturday I am guessing, the action will immediately start afterwards!

If I am racing in Oman, which might even be a good race, watch out for another Celesio performance. |

I've had a nice and consistent start to the season here, it will be interesting to see which WT races I go for, not a lot that suit me.

Vince Soodin, Oman:
Here we are in Oman! The riders and teams arrived here yesterday afternoon and there were some surprising riders that showed up, and many that did not show up that we were expecting. Have a look at the startlist yourself!
