Somehow this race has be come an endurance battle. And because there are no climbs, the race is decided by the FLAT stats of the riders (and a questionable break-away win).

Good news! Smile

My busy weekend with traveling and school is done, and I am a normal user again!

With that being said, the next stage is finished I just need to get the report up, which I will be doing later on Smile

Stage 3
2.3 - Time Trialing

www.bikerumor.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Giro-Selector-Aerodynamic-Time-Trial-Helmet3.jpg

Alot of people thought and even knew that this race was over. A waste of time. But was it? I mean somebody could potentially make a move in the first time trial of the year. Could they pick up enough time though?

The favorites were Mesuperstar, CountArach, and Pellizotti2. They would need to gain significant time on a short course which was highly unlikely. But there was something else on the line, and that was proving that you are the best time trailer. It sets the tone for later in the year, and gets your name on the radar.

Jacky Durand had to hang in there for Celesio, and he spent a majority of the night with captain roturn about how he should go about competing in the race. Whatever he said, the rest of the team just had to hope that it paid off.

Well folks, it isn't going to get much flatter and weirder than this. The loop was like a flower, you were going around and coming back and then turning and doing another u-turn. Seemed oddly boring to me, but oh well, I could sit in one spot and basically see the entire race, so I was content.

i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i351/jseadog1/Pro%20Cycling%20Manager/PCMLeague/CUsersThielUserDesktopPCM0003-7.jpg

No action in the beginning, just the last place guys riding their best knowing they would be beat eventually. It was matt493 of Citigroup having the edge for a decent amount of time at the beginning. TTspecialist eventually tied things up. Gotlandrules make a statement however soon after, as he took a 16 second lead with 45 riders yet to go.

i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i351/jseadog1/Pro%20Cycling%20Manager/PCMLeague/CUsersThielUserDesktopPCM0004-7.jpg

baseballlover312 took 3rd place with just 10 riders left, could gotlandrules hang on for the upset? CountArach was now off!

i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i351/jseadog1/Pro%20Cycling%20Manager/PCMLeague/CUsersThielUserDesktopPCM0005-7.jpg

He was followed closely by Pellizotti2, and while he started there was some buzz from the finish line as brewers90 has just taken the lead!

i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i351/jseadog1/Pro%20Cycling%20Manager/PCMLeague/CUsersThielUserDesktopPCM0006-7.jpg

Mresuperstar was one of the last to go as the favorites were now all spread out along the course.

i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i351/jseadog1/Pro%20Cycling%20Manager/PCMLeague/CUsersThielUserDesktopPCM0007-7.jpg

We were having intense action at the line! CountArach came in TIED with brewers90, and on top of that, Pellizotti2 came in TIED with both of them!! This was going to come down to the performance of Mresuperstar.

The last rider was out. Jacky Durand, who was trying to hang on.

i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i351/jseadog1/Pro%20Cycling%20Manager/PCMLeague/CUsersThielUserDesktopPCM0008-6.jpg

As Mresuperstar approached the finish line, it was looking good, and it held to be true! He came across in the lead and held on to WIN the stage!!

i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i351/jseadog1/Pro%20Cycling%20Manager/PCMLeague/CUsersThielUserDesktopPCM0009-4.jpg

i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i351/jseadog1/Pro%20Cycling%20Manager/PCMLeague/CUsersThielUserDesktopmrewinssub1.jpg

Jacky Durand held his own, across the finish line he came, and would be keeping the leaders jersey! He did horrible, only beating 4 riders, but the gaps were so close he still led by almost a minute!

Jacky Durand hung on! It looks like his win is going to be secured and it will be another successful race by Celesio, who is looking good to start the season out. It will be interesting to see how the sprints playout the last few stages and who finishes on the podium overall.

Rather surprised that I am with the team in Qatar for motivating JD.
By looking on JD`s result here, it was probably a long night and a lot of drinks.

Stage 4
2.4 - Protecting

cdndata.co/cdn/4404157828b9cea0489ce7e9f18a0342c47ed626/PadLock.png

With the time trial over. the race was just about over as well even though we were only halfway. Jacky Durand could not believe that he was going to wear this jersey everyday of the race. Celesio was extremely happy with how their season started out. The other teams here knew the best rider was not going to win.

Was the true race now the Points race? Many think so. The true sprinters were going to shine in a sprinters race, and the stage wins were what really mattered now. While Celesio was worried about protecting their leader, the other teams had to protect their sprinters.

There was just about a week until the race in Oman started. Many captain riders are making debuts there, TheManxMissile to name one of them. The action was getting good and competitive, and a clean season has been successful so far. Now it just has to stay that way.

It felt like stage 1 again. We were in the same place, but starting in an actual location that looked like human life existed. The route was also taking slightly different roads, but most knew what to expect.

i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i351/jseadog1/Pro%20Cycling%20Manager/PCMLeague/CUsersThielUserDesktopPCM0002-8.jpg

The peleton started out fairly slow, and it showed. A break group went out on their own and had absolutely no trouble staying alone. It was an 8 rider break today: coutas98, camacho, LeTrik, Jack888, popkorn, Halvor, rorzcp, and TTspecialist. They had no trouble sustaining a 3:00 lead.

i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i351/jseadog1/Pro%20Cycling%20Manager/PCMLeague/CUsersThielUserDesktopPCM0003-8.jpg

Back at the main field, it was Celesio out front as expected. Paul23 was the rider out front the most, allowing a 4:00 lead for the break now.

i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i351/jseadog1/Pro%20Cycling%20Manager/PCMLeague/CUsersThielUserDesktopPCM0004-8.jpg

i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i351/jseadog1/Pro%20Cycling%20Manager/PCMLeague/CUsersThielUserDesktopPCM0005-8.jpg

It was a 5:00 lead at the 100km mark, and that was the highest it would get before slowly coming down. Subway was making their way to the front, and Zuno was also up there.

i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i351/jseadog1/Pro%20Cycling%20Manager/PCMLeague/CUsersThielUserDesktopPCM0006-8.jpg

At the halfway point, it was a 4:00 lead for the break, and it was down to 3:00 with 50km to go. Even though it was early, the riders were getting some last drinks of water in and trying to get some type of organization for the end of the race.

i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i351/jseadog1/Pro%20Cycling%20Manager/PCMLeague/CUsersThielUserDesktopPCM0007-8.jpg

Squire now doing the pacing for Subway as he drastically picks up the pace, and we see the peleton riding at a very fast pace again. The break looked like they would make it until the fast pace of this group captured the break at literally about 2-3 KM to go. It was going to a day for the sprinters to battle for the win!

i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i351/jseadog1/Pro%20Cycling%20Manager/PCMLeague/CUsersThielUserDesktopPCM0008-7.jpg

But wait! rorzcp is making one last go at it, and he launches his sprint early! The favorites have no choice but to follow. We are in the closing kilometer and it is looking like it would not last for him. The favorites are all on their own, trying to catch up, and rorzcp came so close!! It would be Guido Mukk not being denied of another stage win!

2 races so far, 2 double winners so far. It is looking good for those that came into the season have been in shape. Even though many riders have not been out that much, they are still able to contribute to the team. The overall result is still unchanged though, as it continues to look good for Jacky Durand.

I've realised that I won't even be put in the squads for the lower races, because I was 3 days too late on my post count...

I don't know what went wrong with the Rabobank sprint train, it just didn't seem to work out this time, but luckily we have two days left to mark our names in the flat stages Smile

Stage 5
2.5 - Upping The Pace

socialmediainfluence.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/upwards-trending-graph.jpg

Was this race actually over like we thought? Were other teams secretly meeting to discuss if there was any chance this race could be brought back to a competition? There were a few teams having a private talk, and out of respect for them, I wont reveal who they were. The conscious of the talk was that if the pace was upped over the duration of the race, Jacky Durand might not be able to keep up.

I think word was spread out to Celesio somehow, maybe a bluff team was in that discussion secretly trying to help Celesio, but who knows. They were trying to think of how they could keep the pace normal to secure a win. Wile they were thinking, many of the other riders and teams had their eyes set on the points competition and the remaining stages.

The race has a very high chance of coming down to the last sprint to determine the points winner, we just had to see how today went. I know riders were getting bored of riding basically the same roads everyday, but surely we wouldn't have another win by Guido Mukk, would we?

It should be a good nice flat race today, totaling 160KM, the longest stage of the race.

i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i351/jseadog1/Pro%20Cycling%20Manager/PCMLeague/CUsersThielUserDesktopPCM0002-9.jpg

Right from the first few KM's we saw 11 riders try to set out alone. Im not sure if the peleton was going faster or not, but the break did not make it past a 1 minute gap. I noticed them keep trying to break, but to no avail. Celesio was up front of the pack.

i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i351/jseadog1/Pro%20Cycling%20Manager/PCMLeague/CUsersThielUserDesktopPCM0003-9.jpg

Right at around the first sprint they were caught, but it wasn't even 30 seconds later and there were 11 new riders setting out an attack. They got out to a 1:00 lead relatively faster than the last break. Leading the charge of the peleton now was Deksel of RAB and Bushwackers of CIT.

i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i351/jseadog1/Pro%20Cycling%20Manager/PCMLeague/CUsersThielUserDesktopPCM0004-9.jpg

The break continued to gain ground little by little. Out front we see Macquet, LLDS, Halvor, Bjtarne, atlanta, alex-sonic, and Luis Leon Sanchez. They only had a 45 second gap at 85KM to go and Rin was now pacing the peleton for Celesio. Paul23 was also there as a teammate helper.

i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i351/jseadog1/Pro%20Cycling%20Manager/PCMLeague/CUsersThielUserDesktopPCM0005-9.jpg

Whatever break was left did not last long. Looks like roturn made sure that Celesio stay up front and do the pacing, so it would be so high. The pack was now together.

i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i351/jseadog1/Pro%20Cycling%20Manager/PCMLeague/CUsersThielUserDesktopPCM0006-9.jpg

As you can see by the last and following picture, Citigroup was getting organized at the front of the field. There are only 35KM left in the race. Remember that whole thing about a crazy fast pace of the main field? Well, Rabobank made it happen. I am not sure if they were trying to make it obvious it was them that set it up, or if there was some kind of agreement.

i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i351/jseadog1/Pro%20Cycling%20Manager/PCMLeague/CUsersThielUserDesktopPCM0007-9.jpg

Regardless, there was not much left in the race, just a little over 10KM. Many riders were having trouble keeping up, which ultimately led to the failure of the original plan. Many riders were so spread out that even the very large gap had the pack finish as 1 due to the fact that everyone had the same time from being so close.

Now to the sprint. No Guido Mukk today as the fast pace must have worn him out. It came down to 2 riders, and it was cio93 and Avin Wargunnson . Avin launched his attack just a bit too late, as another 50 meters would have got him a win. cio93 holds on for his first win, with teammate Lachi right behind.

Well, we got an interesting situation afterall. It will be a 5 point gap in the points classification and a 12 second one overall. Looks like we will be getting some good competitive cycling in the last stage! I am looking forward to it!
