Too bad for Villella

the_hoyle
@batista: Considering the riders around him in the end, it was a good result for him Smile I waited for Moser to start his sprint, and by that time, Ulissi and Gatto were in full flow. Lesson learnt for next time

@yves: He is slowly winding down for May, before trying to peak for Italian National Champs, so 4th is a good result for someone not on form Smile

Great result for Villella, no shame in losing to that trio. Maybe he let them win, if they promised to join the team next year. Pfft

Movistar was really strong in the tours in April. Anton winning Fleche is a bit surprising.

Did the team apply for any wildcards? I don't remember.

@mvh: As you know, Moser is a prime target Wink Movistar looking very strong so far this season. Not really seen anything from Sky in the WT races. Wildcards were applied for all WT races, except TdU and the cobbled classics. All wildcards have been rejected :/

@sutty: still at the top, but with the GTs about to start, that could all change very quickly...

Vuelta a la Comunidad de Madrid
4th May 2013

www.esciclismo.com/actualidad/imagenes/vuelta_comunidad_madrid_logo_2013_fedmad.jpg

Our first race of a very small month of riding is in Spain, at the Vuelta a la Comunidad de Madrid.

With Remy injured, and Davide resting for the month, leadership duties fell to Adam Yates, who was trying to balance racing on the Continent and the Premier Calendar.

In the fight for a high finish on the stage, Adam will be support by Linus Gerdemann and Dan Fleeman.

The rest of the team is completed by inexperience and youth. Damien Howson and Nathan Earle will ride just to keep the legs loose, whilst Damien Monier and Fredrik Ludvigsson will work as domestiques over the year stages of the race.

Trent Lowe is the final man, and will look to head up the road in the day's break.

3km from the end, and it was a dominant display from Astana. Aru and Dyachenko attacked off the front, with Chernetskiy (KAT) the only rider to follow them.

Rund um Koln
12th May 2013

www.cyclobrevet.nl/WP/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/RUK_logo.jpg

Today, I feel like I need to be in two place at once. We have one team here in Germany, whilst our British contingent try to continue their great form in the Premier Calendar in Lincoln.

Linus Gerdemann leads the team in Koln, where the hilly course should suit him nicely. Nathan Earle, Trent Lowe and Fredrik Ludvigsson will provide support and back up.

Should the race end in a sprint, Caleb Ewan will look to be the main man in the end, with Philip Lavery, Damien Monier and Rasmus Quaade working as his lead-out.

Despite late attacks from Nathan Earle and Linus Gerdemann, it was a bad day for Rapha-Bianchi, which also saw Philip Lavery abandon the race with a possible fractured arm.

@sutty: The breakaway was not the strongest. Yates split the group on every cobbled climb of Michael's Gate. He was 12th when he got up from fall, so you can see just how much time he made up. Richardson was a late last lap attack and he still caught the remnants of the break.
