Through a stroke of luck (well, not for me at least) I have been hit by a stomach bug overnight and I am off work today. That means I get some PCM time in whilst I lie in bed.
The Tour de San Luis has been a bit of bitch to the team, and a huge hit on my morale coming back to the game after a few weeks or so. With that in mind, I just want to get it over with and the next update will be quick overview of the rest of the stage. Nothing in depth like the first few stages, so my apologises.

Team Debrief (after Stage 5)
I am struggling for words to properly describe how I feel right now. Disappointed, angry and dejected is a good start I suppose...
After stage 2, the team were up on high. Caleb was performing above his weight and flying. Heading into the hills and mountains, we felt like we could threaten.
Stage 3 was good. We split the peleton, but Remy burnt out just short of the finish line and was caught by the GC men. But that seemed to be start of the downfall... Mechanical issues and a crash meant Remy lost over 3 mins in the ITT, and on stage 5, Katusha's unwillingness to work, when Remy was off the front with Kozontchuk chasing down the break, really pushed me over the edge! I certainly let the Katusha team bosses know about it after the stage, and I was soon contacted by the UCI to 'explain my actions'. I now have a small trip to Switzerland in 2 weeks to 'discuss the matter further' with the UCI's main board.
Well, 2 stages left and we can get out of Argentina. Apart from Caleb's sprints and Rasmus' ITT result, this has been a race to forget!

Finally it is over! The final two stages slightly picked up after the disappointment of the others, and Linus coming away with a podium on stage 6 and the Climber's Jersey put some smile back on the sponsor's faces. They wanted a Top 10 finish, I said I would get them Top 5... We ended up with Top 20 (just!). Improvements have been demanded, and the whole team wants to press on and show what you are all about.
Onwards and upwards in Mallorca!

@VoetsT: The final two stages were a vast improvement. Ewan was swamped in the lead out and couldn't take the right wheel
@mvh: Stage results were good. Just let down by the ITT for Di Gregorio and the stage 5 result for Gerdemann and that destroyed the GC hopes.

Vuelta a Mallorca
3rd - 6th February 2013
Our first race on European soil sees the team heading to the Balearic Island of Mallorca.
We go in the race with a squad combining youth talent and aging experience as we look for a good result in Spain. David Villella and Adam Yates will lead the team for the GC, with Dan Lloyd and Trent Lowe offering support, whilst Philip Lavery will be the main man for the sprints. Simon Yates will offer lead out duties, along with Damien Monier, and Fredrik Ludvigsson will work as domestique.
As a Sponsor Goal, he aim is Top 5, but given the Start List, our focus may have to be change to something a little more obtainable, depending on how the race pans out.

Uf, that's strong startlist, but good luck. Not many cyclist fans know Rapha-Bianchi since it's early season yet, so breakaway is perfect chance to get some points and show off new team!

The stage is surely going to be ending in a mass sprint, so the team will work for Lavery and see how he gets on at the finish. The main firepower of the other teams seems to be when we head into the Mountains, so a Top 10 finish could be on the cards today. We will aim for the break as well.
Hayakawa (PPO), Cardoso (EFG) and Ludvigsson (RBR) were the riders who would form the day's break, attacking as the flag dropped at the start.
Lotto and Belkin set the pace of the peleton, as gap extended to the escapees grew quickly in the early stage.
Sprint Point 1

Time Gap -- 40km
Peleton > 4'06 > Leaders
The three breakway riders worked well together on the stage, but it was clear that they would not stay away to the finish.
Lotto and Belkin, with help from Caja Rural, had upped the pace, and the gap was closing with every pedal stroke.
Time Gap -- 80km
Peleton > 1'48 > Leaders
Sprint Point 2
1. F. Cardoso // 2. F. Ludvigsson // 3. T. Hayakawa
As expected, the break was swept up with 17km to go, and it was all set for a bunch sprint on the seafront.
Regardless of the result today, 10/10 for the effort and courage of the our lead out guys. With 10km to go, we hit the front, forcing the favoured teams on to the back foot.
Approaching the finish, there would be a great battle between the sprinters, as four leadouts formed across the road.
500m to go, and it was still anyone's guess who would win! Philip was doing great, but could he hold on for a podium?
Theo Bos (BEL) takes the win, ahead of Cardoso (CJR) and Debusschere (LTB). Lavery faded in the last 200m, but still comes in a very credible 6th place.

Well I think that went to plan perfectly. Fredrik did some fine work in the break, and without a slightly contentious second intermediate sprint, he could have been in white tomorrow. Replays seem to show him cross the line first, but the sprints win went to Cardoso... Normally I would argue the case about this, but I am in enough trouble as it is with the UCI after Argentina.
At the end, Phil was fantastic, along with the rest of the sprints team. Sixth is a fine result for the young man. We might not be the strongest team, but my god we have a lot of spirit!
Let's see what stage 2 brings.

@Voets: Despite the failed sponsor goal at San Luis, the sponsors were still happy with other results. Let's hope they are happy with something similar here, as that is plan b.
@admir: Let's hope that can happen sadly, our sprints are gaining us a reputation as a young up and coming side, so some are getting weary of us.
@sutty: I don't think that it could have gone any better. Top 5 maybe, but for his stats, 6th place is great.
