Hello there! Welcome to the PCM Streaming and Gameplay Videos topic.
This topic has been created with the purpose of having all posts about people showing gameplay footage of themselves playing Pro Cycling Manager in one place. You can come here discuss, post links to your gaming videos or streams, and comment about others.
Watching other people play PCM can be both enjoyable in a way that’s comparable to reading a PCM story, as well as a learning experience as you see how others play the game. Making videos or streaming yourself is fun and interactive way to play PCM and to connect with the community.
In order to avoid clutter in wrong forums, thread derails and many individual topics, this thread has been set up. Technically I could have started this thread in the Stories or Online section, but I didn’t want to clutter either of them with something remotely off-topic. Also, I wanted to keep videos and streams of all PCM editions in one place for now, since it’s still so small.
Okay, now on to the topic at hand!
Youtube v.s. Twitch.tv.
Youtube allows you to upload videos. Therefore, it’s ideal for people who want to search, watch, and play back videos by other users. Especially since there aren’t many PCM streams around, Youtube is where you find the most PCM gameplay footage on the web. It’s good for videomakers who prefer editing, uploading and saving over streaming.
Twitch.tv. Allows you to stream your gaming live to your channel on their website. People can tune in and chat with you. It’s ideal for people who are looking for more interaction while watching gameplay videos: for either entertainment or learning. The broadcaster can chat back with you or use his microphone to answer your questions. Instead of searching for a video that’s relevant to your interest, you can now request things directly from the broadcaster. It’s good for broadcasters who are too lazy to save, upload and edit their videos and who like the interaction.
As a spectator, you need:
- a good download speed to be able to watch both streaming and Youtube videos in high quality
- In order to comment on a video, or chat to the broadcaster, a Youtube/Twitch.tv account (recommended when watching streams on Twitch.tv, optional for youtube)
- To bookmark this topic so you can keep up with the latest PCM videos and streams, talk to the broadcasters, and request new videos!
As a broadcaster you need:
- A good upload speed to be able to stream your gameplay, or to upload your videos at a reasonable speed.
- An account on Youtube/Twitch, to have your own channel, so you are be able to stream / post videos.
- In case you want to use Youtube, you need video capture software such as Fraps or MSI afterburner, as well as video editing software such as Windows Live Movie Maker or Adobe Premiere. Note that all of these programs except WLMM cost money to buy from their developing companies. If you need help finding/getting this software, contact me on private message and I’ll be happy to instruct you and help you out further
- In case you want to use Twitch.tv to stream, you need streaming software. There is paid software but also perfectly fine free software to do this: I can recommend Open Broadcaster Software. OBS does require some minor configuration to start off but I’ll be happy to talk you through it. If there is high demand I’ll post up a guide.
- An audience of course, so be sure to post up new videos or new live streams in this topic!
Index of PCM Youtube broadcasters and Streamers to be added, feel free to post your favourite channels in this thread. |

I am going to start streaming now for the next 45 minutes or so: https://www.twitch... feel free to tune in. If you have a Twitch.tv account, we can chat while I am playing.
Also, a video of me playing last night is here: https://www.twitch...409585111. Check out the finale of the race, which starts at 18 minutes. Closest sprint I've ever seen.
Either way, if you want to give streaming or video making a go, or have any questions, post them up here and I'll be glad to help.

I've made some short video tutorials on how to start up your own stream.
Part one:

Another guide with maybe some additional info:

If you have any questions or problems, let me know. The videos aren't very good but I wanted to get this out there as soon as possible, to help out people who wanted to know how to.
I'm going to be streaming my PCM now for 45 minutes at https://www.twitch...

Good stuff man. Your story is a perfect example of the trade-off between FRAPS/Youtube and Twitch. FRAPS requires a ton of hard drive space, and some editing, but the end result is very nice.
On the subject of PCM13, people are making some plans to get a live stream going as soon as the game is released, so you can all tune in and see, for those of you who don't want to buy the game just yet. More on this will be announced later.
For now, I am going to start up my stream again, and will be playing some stages for the next hour or so.
Feel free to tune in at https://www.twitch... |

Watching your stream right now, no account on Twitch though so can't comment there.
Have an exam tomorrow, so perfect relaxation moment now.
Watched the stream this afternoon, I didn't buy PCM '12, so I'm still playing '11 and after today I'm quite convinced I'm going to buy '13.
Management features seemed to have improved (even if just a little bit), mountain AI seemed (more than) decent. So now just wainting till the 20th.
Cool, cool, cool, cool

Cycling isn't a sport, it's a passion.

Cheers guys, I learned a lot last night actually, I think the right music really adds to the quality of the stream .
Either way, don't just watch me streaming, start streaming yourself as well! It's good fun, it basically comes down to how you play PCM normally, but now you have a better time when you play I can strongly recommend everyone to give it a try. |

Follow his guides and its incredibly easy to set up! I've done some secret practices and it's quite cool, would be better with actual watchers

Right, lets try a stream... First one so feedback is great (even if its calling me shit). Couple of things, 1)I can only use the in-built mic (have a new one on order and should arrive in the week) so not sure how that will work out (was acceptable in testing)... 2)I am always listening to music in the background and if its annoying tell me and i'll turn it off
The more interaction the better... Feeling nervous so be gentle
https://www.twitch.tv/themanxmissile/
I'll start in about 10 minutes (3:50pm BST)

Watched bits off your stream TheManxMissile.
It was pretty nice. It was hard to hear you sometimes when you spoke, however you've ordered a mic so should get faar better that.

Mic arrived today (apparently 5 days is the same as 2 ) so that should improve. Always nice to know things anyway

I watched all of it, and it was pretty good, don't hesitate to do it again / more often.
It's a shame Cav didn't win the first stage though.
