Het Nieuwsblad's first season in the Man-Game started off with a big boom ! One factor that played in our domination of the division was our depth through the squad and the consistency throughout the season. We've finished at least Top 10 in every single classic raced, and out of 26 races ridden in Division's 2 calendar - finished only 2 races outside Top 10 in GC.

From our 16 strong squad we have decided to resign only 4 riders for the upcoming season. It will be sad to see all those riders leaving, especially our biggest hero - Gilberto Sampaio. But with the acceptance into the Pro Continental Division we begin the new road to success and with this comes the necessary changes in the team.

Really happy to see you getting a PCT contract. Winning the CDiv2, with a cool team and also having a very active manager is admirable. Well done.
Three riders of Festina-CANAL+ has expressed their interest in joining the team. Jens Keukeleire would like to join the team on a one year loan deal in order to get some sprint experience at a higher level, while both Roy Sentjens and Olivier Kaisen has expressed serious interest in joining the squad on a more permanent basis.

Thanks very much tsmoha, glad you like the HQ and our team Hopefully we'll have some great rivalries together along the way
Thanks MrDemus. Simialry to tsmoha, glad you like our team and hope you'll be part of our fan club through the season Hopefully you'll get your place in Continental division as well, you definitely deserve it
And last thank you, to you SotD
We'll be definitely happy to accept Keukeleire into our squad as a loanee for one season, we'll also definitely discuss Kaisen's and Sentjens chances and we'll be in talks when the transfer season begins. Can't say right now we'll definitely sign them though yet, our only ''fear'' is of their low punchy skills, however when the DB gets released ( and transfer season begins ) and the thoughts on how I'd like the team to shape up become clearer, I'd definitely PM you with more details

HTC - Nieuwsblad has been official team for just few days but rumours are already flying in. The team concept will be explained in interview by the manager in few days, but HTC - Nieuwsblad will take different aspect to last season, one that's risky, but I will have most fun from it.
So, we'll concentrate on the youth and it will be our priority signings. Joe Dombrowski and Ian Boswell are American duo which we'll go a lot to get. Moreno Hofland is a Dutch name that came up a lot and another youngesters that we'll be poised to sign. Of course we can't forget about our Belgian talents, Tom Van Asbroeck, Sean de Bie and Tim Wellens have been mentioned.
Continuing from that, we'll also need some experienced riders to score majority of our points through the season. Jérôme Baugnies is by far most linked riders with the team, and along our youngsters - is our first priority. We'll also if money permits, sign a hilly leader and riders to support our hilly and cobble departments, along a sprinter. The focus on mountains ( aside of Joe ) will be small, however that still depends how things plan our early on.

Ambitious to aim for Dombrowski. I reckon he'll go for well over 500k.
Anyway, I like the targets. Would all be good additions to your team for sure.

Yep that was the price I had him in mind, and centerd most of my trasnfers limitations around that we'll see how it goes but we'll be going over the top to get Joe, it might not pay off at all at the end, but at least it's worth taking a risk. However we wouldn't be that sad if we don't get him ( as that would probably mean we would do much better in our first season in PCT ie more money for more experienced riders ) however he'll be target from day one.

I will probably fight you a little for some of those riders, but I can't afford 500k+, if I want to seriously meet my aims. Unless I'm paying that much for a Cunego or Napolitano. |

500k for Cunego would be bargain of the century.

Well you really shouldn't have too fight
And indeed 500k for Cunego would be amazing bargain
Valv, those are the two I'll be going for plus few American domestiques I guess that I don't think anyone will fight over. Or at least that's the plan so far

500k for Dombrowski is probably only the minimum. Cattaneo was 400k last year, and we have some more new teams this time. Plus, he'll be a lot stronger than Cattaneo.
Still, the fear of relegation to CT and the pretty big amount of GC talents around might reduce the bidding war a bit.

Hofland in the spotlights
Unfortunate to have signed for a folding team, young hopeful Hofland seems to have several teams interested in him. After a statement by HTC Nieuwsblad Hofland declared he also heard people around him mention Dutch teams that recently got a PCT licence. Whatever he does, next year will be better for him than 2012.

Cattaneo was bid well up by italian teams though. So hopefully Dombrowski won't go sky high, but there are a couple of american PT teams, that you will have to fear I think. Wikipedia and California are likely to put in fairly high bids for a USA rider capable of becoming a GT winner.

It will be interesting to see. Last year Cattaneo was possibly the stand out GC rider available, and who is to say that Dombrowski will be the only one this year! That could possibly see prices not rise up if people only want a top young talent. If others particularly want Dombrowski, then you have a problem! Nice to see him being targeted though before most of you even know his stats
I bet youll enjoy transfers this time, since youll get more than 1 day at it!
