 Tour of Tasmania
PT – 3 Stages
We head back to Tasmania to start the 2026 season, just as we have for the past few seasons and with more than a few familiar names on the startline. It’s the same 3 day course ending with a 19km time trial in Hobart to close out the racing and crown our first race winner in PT. A crucial hill stage on stage 2 will also determine who is in range to take that crown. A race of survival for the pure TTers will see who is able to actually contest the final victory.
This race heads back all the way to 2013 when Tejay Van Garderen took the inaugural victory while recent races headlined Tom Wirtgen and Ryan Mullen. Of course, Taylor Phinney also holds the record of 4 straight GC wins here. Looking at the most important addition for this year’s race, we saw Dylan Groenewegen take the win on stage 1, Wilco Kelderman pull out a surprise on stage 2, and Tom Wirtgen taking the expected result on stage 3.

Stage one will be a test for the newly trained Alberto Dainese who features Siim Kiskonen as the leadout rider with Rickaert also taking part in his traditional 2nd to last man role. Dainese is clearly above Philipsen, but the first race of the season means trains may not be well coordinated and folks may not enter at their best form. Let’s see if the Italian can start what could be a top 5 PT battle for the Assa Abloy boys.
Cedevita also prepares for the leadout with Rajovic leading out Jasper Philipsen. Should be an interesting battle with the Assa Abloy train as these two teams appear to be the only two with a true leadout plan.
Bolt-Eesti is the only other team giving a train a shot in support of Peak with Madis Mikhels and Ewen Costiou showing in the top 20 sprinters at the race, but with a clear step down in quality compared to the first two teams. Still Peak is very strong on the flat when he needs to handle things alone and when he can be put in a good position.
As shown, the other top sprinters are Groves, Banaszek, Lutsyshyn, Zijlaard, and Minali. Groves especially will want a victory on home soil.
| Name | FL | MM | HI | TT | ST | RS | SP | AC | FG | | Andrea Bagioli | 71 | 77 | 81 | 69 | 77 | 73 | 71 | 78 | 77 | | Robert Stannard | 73 | 77 | 81 | 67 | 75 | 76 | 69 | 78 | 77 | | Javier Romo | 71 | 76 | 80 | 66 | 78 | 76 | 67 | 71 | 78 | | Dmitry Trakhov | 68 | 74 | 79 | 65 | 78 | 74 | 69 | 75 | 70 | | Giovanni Aleotti | 74 | 77 | 79 | 74 | 78 | 77 | 65 | 75 | 69 | | Michael Storer | 70 | 77 | 79 | 69 | 72 | 73 | 64 | 74 | 75 | | Remco Evenepoel | 75 | 78 | 79 | 79 | 79 | 81 | 64 | 71 | 81 | | Thibau Nys | 71 | 75 | 78 | 67 | 75 | 76 | 70 | 76 | 71 | | Emmanuel Morin | 70 | 72 | 78 | 63 | 75 | 73 | 69 | 76 | 67 | | David Gaudu | 73 | 75 | 78 | 66 | 78 | 75 | 68 | 70 | 69 | | Matteo Jorgenson | 73 | 79 | 78 | 77 | 79 | 78 | 65 | 71 | 65 |
It was a very large group heading together to the finish line in 2025, but the top puncheurs still have the best show to Stage 2. Bagioli has the sprint advantage over Bagioli, but both are tough battlers for this final hill. Besides the slight sprint, it’s tough to find almost any difference between the two on a single stage.
Amongst the puncheurs, Remco Evenepoel and Matteo Jorgenson will likely be the two trying to knock down the peloton as small as possible. Both could find a surprise top 5 GC position if there are major gaps, or if they can find some bonus seconds on stage 2.
Javier Romo is another fun rider to look at. He’s been magical in GT breakaways (if my memory treats me well), but can he translate that to a single stage here in Tasmania. He’s supported – or may actually support – Pascal Ackermann who just falls off the list of favorites here. Still, Ackermann features a 77 spr/80acc which could play an impact on the final slops.
| Name | FL | MM | HI | TT | ST | RS | SP | AC | FG | | Tom Wirtgen | 73 | 77 | 75 | 84 | 76 | 75 | 63 | 72 | 73 | | Mads Würtz | 77 | 69 | 71 | 83 | 78 | 78 | 66 | 70 | 69 | | Eddie Dunbar | 69 | 77 | 76 | 82 | 74 | 77 | 60 | 68 | 62 | | Rokas Kmieliauskas | 74 | 70 | 70 | 82 | 74 | 71 | 63 | 69 | 75 | | Ryan Mullen | 75 | 66 | 70 | 81 | 75 | 74 | 60 | 70 | 61 | | Yuttana Mano | 71 | 74 | 75 | 80 | 72 | 73 | 60 | 66 | 69 | | Filippo Ganna | 76 | 71 | 73 | 80 | 74 | 81 | 69 | 73 | 74 | | Justas Beniusis | 71 | 65 | 60 | 80 | 71 | 73 | 57 | 67 | 68 | | Remco Evenepoel | 75 | 78 | 79 | 79 | 79 | 81 | 64 | 71 | 81 | | Rune Herregodts | 73 | 75 | 75 | 79 | 74 | 78 | 67 | 70 | 74 | | Tristan Jussaume | 72 | 65 | 74 | 79 | 75 | 75 | 60 | 65 | 65 | | Ivo Oliveira | 70 | 71 | 72 | 79 | 76 | 72 | 70 | 72 | 68 | | Nikita Razumov | 74 | 67 | 70 | 79 | 75 | 72 | 64 | 66 | 70 | | Brent Van Moer | 76 | 66 | 70 | 79 | 76 | 78 | 58 | 65 | 67 | | Aydar Zakarin | 74 | 66 | 66 | 79 | 75 | 70 | 65 | 70 | 74 | | Ethan Vernon | 75 | 63 | 65 | 79 | 73 | 77 | 76 | 71 | 63 | | Mathias Norsgaard | 73 | 64 | 65 | 79 | 69 | 75 | 57 | 66 | 57 | | Szymon Rekita | 72 | 61 | 63 | 79 | 70 | 73 | 69 | 70 | 63 |
The defending champion Wirtgen is back and very likely to take down the title here again. He’s simply too strong on the hills to lose major time in most scenarios and there’s no one able to fully match him in the time trial. Still, with only 19km, a bad day could find way for an upset.
Wurtz is no longer a teammate to Wirtgen and might use this to find some extra power over the solo effort, but a GC effort relies on whether his hill capabilities are enough to find his way to the final group.
Speaking of power… King Power is one of 3 teams looking at the Team Classification. Mano and Ganna combined with Hayter, Krul, and Ferreyra should be able to absolutely crush the final TT. They’ll have to battle against individual 2nd place hope Eddie Dunbar, Ryan Mullen, and the Indosat Oordeoo team. They’ll use Brent Van Moer to battle as well.
DK Zalgiris, the new PT team will be the 3rd competitor with Kmieliauskas, Benisius and Terada carrying their flag. There’s a bit more question marks about whether Benisius in particular can find his way to the final group on stage 2, but we’ll see whether their riders can handle the pressure of a new division.
Tristan Jussaume appears to be the strongest time trialist in the U25 category as Zwift – Newton Foundation appears to spoil as many points as possible from their PCT role. Some great results here could show us what the Americans want to achieve in the lower division.

Looking forward to being a nuisance for the PT teams. Great course to see what Jorgenson can achieve at the highest level, as well as our TTers Vernon and Jussaume, who could contend for the U25 jersey. And quite the lineup for Artem Shmidt to make his pro debut in. Bring on the start of the season!

Surprisingly weak hilly participation here given how the AI treated the teams without a proper puncheur last season. Fingers crossed that Gaudu will be just high enough on the favorites list for stage 2 for him to drag along 1-2 og my TT’ers.

Let's go, time to start the season.
Evonik is here with Oliveira and Plapp. Two weapons who could be top 10 candidates for the GC depending on if and how splits are occuring.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Excited to get started! We're all in for the opening stage with Dainese. This will be a good test of how our train works ahead of Qatar. We've also brought Morin as an outsider for the 2nd stage. No GC aspirations, but Hänninen and O'Connor may perhaps get a top 50.
Thanks for the preview!

Let's hope Kämna (and Hessmann) show up and prove you wrong for cutting the line just ahead of them in the list.
Obviously won't beat Wirtgen/Dunbar/Evenepoel but ideally the hill has at least a tiny bit of gaps so that GC wise they might pass couple of the flat specialists for a decent top 15 or even Klae top 10.
Any points this year are needed, so better start early.
As expected though a huge startlist here and it all depends on the time gaps on day 2 how packed the GC field is.
Thanks to all reporters and people working behind the scenes that keep the game running.
Feels very weird to basically not having done a single bit this season, which is the first time in about 12-15 years. But even more so I enjoy how others stepped up big time. Really much appreciated. |

Let's a-go! We haven't been mentioned once, so it seems like the perfect start for a season bound to end in the history books

Not expecting much from Remco's perspective given how the race usually plays out though the extra bonus seconds given this year could be helpfull if he does a good stage 2. Top 10 is the goal.

Well Tommy boy there's one acceptable result and you know what is.
Theoritically I think this team could win all three stages but I expect dainese to win the sprint and the hold yellow until the TT.
Teams gc is also one we should be fighting for here!
Thanks for the preview

Here we go!!!
Excited to see the season start No expectations at all, deciding also to leave Valter at home. Hoping we’re present in the breakaways, not much more I can ask, I think.
Thank you for the preview, seancoll! Last season Romo was very good in the few races he got a chance to lead, but his GT was quite the opposite, with his stage hunting being nowhere near any success |

Not really any questions about the top favourite. However, Dunbar winning S2 and Wirtgen missing out on the Top 10 could make for an interesting ITT - unrealistic, but not completely impossible
Gaps on S2 will obviously be crucial for the final GC; while Wirtgen, Dunbar and Mano should definitely make the front group, it could go either way for the remaining 80+ TTers... I guess most should make it though (did some test with Bissegger just for fun, even he would make the split in most cases).
Rooting for Groves to take the first win (and leader jersey) of the season

We don't have a puncheur who could GC here or a sprinter who could win a stage. So we decided to treat this race as a true experiment after Skjelmose sat up with AKA last year. He's back and trained, but this time we didn't carry anyone who could even remotely sprint, so the game can't pretend anyone else deserves attention (maybe Norsgaard I guess, but if Skjelmose drops to help him, whatever). We'll see how it goes. If I'm wrong again I can only blame myself.
Thanks for the preview! Exciting to get started!
