The second road race goes to the breakaway as well, very interesting. Ndungu is an awesome winner from the perspective of African cycling with the first U23 win since Aidan.
We'll see how things play out in the Elite race. With stronger overall teams than in the B and U23 races, I think the peloton should have a better chance to control the breakaway. But depending on who will be in the group, we could also be in for another surprise. Looking forward to the report a lot! And thanks for this one, UU!

Just not enough manpower in the peloton to control the race on this route. Unfortunate for Lund, but a more active peloton might have hurt him too. Agree with cunego that the stronger teams make a sprint or late attack more likely in the main race, but definitely could still see a break making it depending on the composition!
Thanks for the report!

Bittner best from the pack in the U23 race, dang it.

I think the main thing at the moment is that the crosswinds go to the end which gives a bigger chance for the breakaway to win as theres no drop in winds for the groups behind to form a chase so i would imagine a breakaway has a very strong chance of winning here. Without wanting to moan about the Italian selection again the first few results do show we needed a much strong flat focus then sprint focus weve had
Here was my thoughts in the route vote pretty much played out exactly as expected

very tough choice
closer the wind is the to the end more likely we get a breakaway is a pretty good guide
so while a rouleur winner would be awesome i've ruled out Puri on that Basis and gone for between Nantes and Ruchphen, feel the Dutch version could give the most exictement |

Congrats to all the winners so far and thanks to Imladrik, Ulrich and cunego for the coverage!
It's been a rather uninspiring WC for our riders and baring some bigger shenanigans in the RR it will stay this way as we only have to riders in there with Küng and Katrasnik. But the parcours got us some interesting racing.

Thanks to Cunego for the coverage, thought the approach was great.

Congrats Zmorka. Very cool to see him become WC. I'm pleased with Mano in 6th.
Our highlight of course is the U23 WC ITT win with Milesi! Hsu quite disappointing in the B race, but congrats Latvia on another win there. Thanks for all the reports so far. |

Nice to see Zmorka win, even if it is obviously due to the disband of Vesuvio.
