Tour of South Africa - Stage 4
Imladrik
More than half the race already, and what better than 30 km of team time trial to create gaps in the GC?

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511213647_1.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eus.png Euskadi-Murias had a hard time in the former stages. They come with some top time-trialists, but they dropped two riders in the opening climb. They still set the first best time: 41’11.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511213945_1.jpg

That climb was even harder on pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/kno.png Kone-Nordea, who lost three riders. That hurts in the end, as though they seemed faster, they lose time in the end and finish 6 seconds off.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511214551_1.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/anz.png Air New Zealand-Prada manage to stay together, but it’s mainly because they lack top time-trialists. They’re 36 seconds off.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511214639_1.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/ofg.png THE ONE - Fox God are only 4 at half stage. That can’t end well, I’d think, but they finish 16’’ off, which isn’t that bad.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511214711_1.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/kmm.png Ho might have hoped for more from Masnada. Despite Christodoulos’ help, they won’t really improve today. They’re provisional lasts, at 37 seconds.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511214803_1.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/gla.png Glanbia has a renowned TTT unit, and can aim to make up some of the time Meintjes lost. They set a new best time of 40’57.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511215033_1.jpg

Choi leads pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/sct.png Simba Cement - Tanga Fresh, but Rodriguez is their leader for the GC it seems. They ride well, and have the new best time: 40’07.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511215131_1.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/tir.png JEWA TIROL is one of those team who decided to drop some riders. They’re 32 seconds off, which isn’t too bad.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511215221_1.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/enb.png Bianchi Enel doesn’t really have GC aspirations here. They’re the new lanterne rouge. No overperformance here it seems.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511215409_1.jpg

The Maillot Jaune’s team comes next. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/t3a.png Podium Ambition won’t keep it today, as they lose 1’27 on the line.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511215500_1.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/ipc.png IncaLine Pro Cycling has had a decent first half of the race, but Paez will have much time to make up, as they lose 2’10 to the hot seat.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511215743_1.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/trg.png Tryg – Eni might not be where they wanted to be yet in this race. But in any case, as more often than not, they dropped Demare in the GC and he’ll fall very far. The main team is provisional 2nd, at 22’’.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511215837_1.jpg

Cerny could still aim for a result after today, as pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/iec.png IESE ProCycling Team are not too bad. They’re 44 seconds off the pace, which is good enough for temporary 3rd.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511220030_1.jpg

The pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/see.png SEE Turtles snatched a surprise win. They try to get another today. But they can only beat IESE, 24 seconds off.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511220115_1.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/ple.png Parmalat – Ecopetrol are showing the polka dots! In the actual race, they lose 1 minute.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511220148_1.jpg

Sagan has to hang on with his team of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eth.png Ethiopian Airlines. They look for the mid-table. They lose 1’14, and Sagan is with his teammates.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511220350_1.jpg

Same story for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/taf.png Tafjord Kraft… except they dropped Eriksson! He must feel unwell, as they’re not particularly fast (+1’24).

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511220423_1.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mck.png McCormick Pro Cycling can aim for a podium. And indeed, they’re only 11 seconds off… But without Narvaez who’s another leader that has been dropped.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511220616_1.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/blt.png Bolt – Eesti profited from the opening climb, but are a bit slower now that it’s all flat. They’re 24 seconds off.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511220649_1.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/hvc.png Hunter Valley cycling are the fastest at the intermediate sprint. Sad that Conci lost time in the former stage, as they take the hot seat: 39’59.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511220804_1.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eko.png Ekoi - Le Creuset are only 4 left, but Paret-Peintre is here, which is important seeing tomorrow. They’re provisional 4th, at 26 seconds.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511220855_1.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/tzk.png Team Zappes Kölsch probably hopes for nothing, and that’s what they get, as they’re last at 2’13.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511220935_1.jpg

Hunter Valley takes the win today! Let’s see the implication on the GC.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511221201_1.jpg

Sam is the new leader of the race, with Cosnefroy and Castillo right behind. Simba and Ekoi will have work to do to take the lead.
Hunter valley also leads the team competition.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/C1/SouthAfrica/S4/20260511221220_1.jpg

Sheehan is the new leader of the young riders classification.
