Title winning stuff by Plapp Huge congratulations, knockout
Very happy to see Valter on the move. Couldn’t ask for more. He was up against stronger riders on the day. Good attempt!
That was also a thrilling report with all the GC action. Thank you, UU! |

Hell yeah! Perfectly executed with Eenkhoorn as additional workhouse in the break and Plapp executing nicely. I didnt believe in the victory for a second because the gap looked too small throughout but Plapp was outstanding.
And finally white is with us too. Took too long but at least we have it now and should defend it until the end.
Thanks for another great report and thanks ember (not accepting those congratulations just yet )

Wasn't expecting Champoussin to be dropped by Plapp there. Congrats, knockout!
It's good that we were in the breakaway. Just not the outcome I was expecting. Champoussin not going for the KoM points is concerning. I guess a Giro repeat is out of question at this point.

Heroic win by Plapp! Congrats.
Dombrowski looked strong all climb, but apparently he peaked too early and collapsed near the end. Not ideal to lose time to guys like Areruy, Latour and Geoghegan Hart. But we still have a buffer to them. Getting close to Girdlestone now; hope to move into second place soon.

What a win for Plapp! Getting caught by Herklotz yet coming back through to pass him, such an iconic victory.
That stage ended up being a lot more grueling and difficult than I expected based on the profile. It seems the team is really intent on using our numbers for something, though I can't really tell what at this stage since we now have no one in the top 10. Carthy looked good early on when he followed Herklotz and Dombro, but he faded pretty hard at the end there. Maybe he's in the breakaway tier now? I'm not really sure because the team working suggests he's still viewed as a favorite of some kind.
A little worried that Carthy is carving his way into a no man's land where he won't finish in the top 10 or attack, but there's still a lot of race left before things really shake out. There are a number of guys above him that should, in theory, be weaker in the mountains of the last week.
Will be disappointing if AKA abandons in the points jersey but I can't imagine Herklotz doesn't pass him anyway.
Terrific report Ulrich! You captured all the moving parts super well and it was a pleasure to read.

That’s a weird ride from Latour. He clearly had a good day so I have no idea how he managed to get dropped on the final climb - what a waste of energy that could have been used to put time into the others. Oh well, at least he finished well. Firdaus and Frankiny riding well in support too is good to see as well as leading the team standings (for now). Congrats to Evonik on the Plapp win, a memorable one for sure. Thanks for the report.

Worse than just being quite bad, this is also not fun for Areruya, stuck being too good to lose time and attack while also consistently losing to weaker riders. Once again it's no disaster, but I really hope he's got something in him because despite all the work in the peloton he's looked very pedestrian for a long time now.

Somewhat surprised we had the peloton fighting for the win there, definitely had it as a breakaway stage. Congratulations, roturn! Guerreiro really maximizing his scoring here. Well done! |

Guess we were pacing to keep those from our rival teams in the rankings at the back. Because we did not get involved in the fight for the stage win at all.
Hopefully Champoussin will be in the breakaway tomorrow.

Strange finish, but a good winner. Congrats roturn! Not the stage I expected Latour to finally get involved in the finish of but we’ll take it. Thanks for the report Ulrich, been great so far. Looking forward to the big stage tomorrow - hoping for total carnage considering the small distance.

Glad the team could bring Plapp back into the peloton. Wish Arndt would have had better positioning in the final as he is one for such a sprint finish but it is what it is

Not complaining (I said I didn't care and I will stick to it!) but it is kind of funny that in certain instances PCM 24 will have your whole team wait with a third tier sprinter in the mountains just to keep them safe, while in other cases they'll have your sprinter who's literally in the points jersey risk missing the cut every day with early work. Think AKA is really on borrowed time at this point.
We've been doing superb at competing on all terrains throughout the race, and it was cool to see the team once again coalesce around Aranburu, ending with yet another podium. He's really going to end up with a big points haul from this race now, and it seems like his end of year totals are going to actually end up approximate to his overall, maybe for the first time ever. That's despite his poor stamina working against him more than ever. And for once, I'm going to take a little credit for his success because I do think I planned him specifically to work around his stamina weakness, and it seems to have really worked.
Congrats to roturn on another victory in a perfectly suited stage, and thanks for another great report!
