I feel like after all these years of wondering I have to ask: What's up with the name? Why's it not a cycle classic?

I would love a larger group sprint of ~10 favourites like last year. Gives Ovsya the chance to punch a bit above his weight if he can make the selection. Tactic wise the idea should be simple: just follow along and dont waste any unnecessary energy. Attacks can be done by Ansons or Kurianov but Ovsya has to stay put...

Only a couple of Per races left! Would be fun to snag a win or another podium. But I'm also fine with keeping Per's salary down. More so I would like to see proof of concept that our depth can have a meaningful impact in a difficult race like this.
Thanks for the preview!

I hope to see Altur fight for a top 5. He has been very consistent so far, but without any spectacular results. Just one punching slightly above his weight would be nice.

Another cobbled classic. Another Top 20 would be decent!
Thanks for the preview Laurens!

Liked the activity from Vermeersch last time out but hope for something a little smarter this time than attacking from midway!

Very happy with a 5th place by Ovsyannikov. He didnt make the original selection, could fight back due to the hesitation in the chase and then used his strong sprint to get a very very solid result. Finishing ahead of Gerts and Tiller is of course also a very positive thing to note
Neilands adds a top 20 despite being in an earlier move also is a pretty strong result.
Now its a long wait until we race again as we are done for the month.

Very quick delivery, thank you both for the preview and the report!
Pre-race, this was one of the cobbled classics this season I was the most hopeful for. Rated flat, it suits Anderberg perfectly.
Seeing him launch a very early attack worried me, especially when it came to nothing and a big group continuing to be at the front. Then to miss out on the group of 8 that got a gap later was even more worrying. Kind of a relief to see him in the 13 riders chase group with Pedersen and NvH up the road, eventhough I was sceptical about getting a good result. 9th in the end is definitely disappointing, but it feels like it's the new normality in most cobbled classics/one day races. The cobbles not being difficult enough to really create splits and gaps, and then it becoming a rather large group fighting for the podium and top positions, assuming one of Pedersen or Per is on the right day and can pull of something on their own. |

We won't be catching Evonik by finishing way behind their riders. On the bright side, both Van den Berg and Meeus got into the top 20.
Thanks for the report!

Hmm I guess not. Instead of a good result, he performed the worst of the entire season. Not ideal.

Wow. Hooydonck finally having it for couple of races now showing nice consistency at the moment.
Not being in the favourites list was worrying but being in the selection then was good to see.
Surprised he suddenly was strongest next to Pedersen even and luckily they weren't caught again.
2nd is a huge result here. After 3rd last season, it might be the win next year I guess.
Good for Pedersen to also get his first win after being runner up for couple of years.
Thanks for the report and the history overview. |

Another solid result from Per. He's still so well rounded and just always manages to finish highly from whatever group he's in, though it's a little sad that he always seems to drop the ball on following Pedersen's winning move this year. But hey, keeps his salary down a bit I guess. Should be good enough for us to stay afloat at this point in the year.
A little disappointed in our depth to have four guys in the second group but they all finish at the back of it. But like I talked about pre-race, that's more for proof of concept than actually caring about the result.
Thank you for the report!

Thanks for the report to Imladrik and congrats on yet another Pedersen win to tasta!
We've been rather anonymous here, but then it's nothing lost this way, so let's focus on our actual races this month.

Really frustrating to miss that final selection given the sprint finish could have meant we were in for a high placing. But I guess at least this failure still gave a Top 20 result rather than the true disasters of the early season.
Congrats tasta and thanks for the report Imladrik!
Spoiler Annoying but not too unexpected to know Vermeersch doesn't overperform that 78COB too much. Training needed

14th for Teunissen is not terrible, but it's definitely not good either. Congrats tastasol!
