PCT Ranking Update #6 - Teams
Tight race at the top of the June rankings with Lotto-Caloi barely beating Colombini Kometa with 6 points, being the top team for the month scoring 468 pts. Big haul from East Java their most important result while Colombini scored well in California, Suisse and Dauphine Libere. A great month for both teams and sorely needed for Colombini fighting for their life.
3rd team to score over 400 this month is Trans Looney Tunes and we have the same races helping their score with California, East Java and Suisse. A great month for the Tunes! 4th best score comes from Everesting, another team trying to get away from relegation. California (again), Dauphine Libere and USA Pro Cycling Challenge well scoring races for them.
Zwift - Newton Foundation is another team needing points and they got 370 of them this month with racing in North America their strenght. They were the best scoring team in California and the only team with points in Vancouver. With a big result in Suisse Ekoi - Le Creuset takes another step towards promotion. of their 339 pts this month 281 were scored in Suisse!
While Spark Team NZ scored good points in Dauphine it was also Hanko giving them a good amount this month, netting them a total of 309 pts. Just 9 points behind them is the yellow fear, Minions! California and USA Pro Cycling their most important scoring races this month.
Assa Abloy is another team with good points from Hanko before scoring well in Berlin and USA Pro Cycyling. MOL Cycling Team didn't score in many races, but 168 pts from East Java helped by points in USA Pro Cycling and some in Berlin makes in an ok month. Similar could be said about Gjensidige Pro Cycling Team. Good points in Suisse and USA Pro Cycling but not a lot of racing
Hunter Valley Cycling raced more and scored points here and there. Dauphine Libere ended up being their best scoring races. DK Zalgiris started the month with 104 pts from California before scoring some points here and there, while Duvel-Tsingtao also scored well in California but pretty much all the rest of their points came from East Java.
The leader going into the month, Specialized, didn't really have any big races, but scored here and there to a total of 230 points, just 5 points in front of Bolt - Eesti. They had some bigger scored in Hanko and Dauphine.
A team that took the start of the month easy was Sauber Petronas Racing, they did however end stronger with 107 from Dauphine and 97 from USA Pro Cycling. JEWA TIROL on the other had got their points from Hanko, East Java and Berlin while relegation doomed DeNA Roadstars had their best month with a total points of 166. The team doubled their amount of points this month! They might need to continue doubling to survive...
Simba Cement - Tanga Fresh raced 3 races, scored okay in all of them and thus cant really complain about that, they do however need to start scoring more if they are to survive. The same can be said about IESE ProCycling Team who got 113 pts this month. The road to survival seems to be closing. McCormick Pro Cycling scored 113 points aswell but that was from only 2 races.
Bralirwa - Cegeka is another team not scoring that well this month with 50 pts from Dauphine being the best one, they were however not the worst team this month. That title goes to Tryg - Eni with a total of 104 pts for June, they did only race 2 races though.

Specialized keep their top spot but we got some movement in the top with Ekoi - Le Creuset climbing into 2nd, taking the spot from DK Zalgiris who falls to 4th.
Lotto-Caloi is the biggest climber this month going from 10th to 5th while there are really no big falls with most teams falling/climbing 1-2 spots.
In the relegation battle DeNA Roadstars and IESE ProCycling Team seems doomed while Colombini Kometa managed to just climb into a safe spot this month. Can they stay there? JEWA TIROL is the new team who might have to plan for CT next year
Looking at the projected scores we see that Ekoi - Le Creuset and DK Zalgiris looks like the favorites for winning the division while Colombini Kometa again falls under the relegation line.
There is a lot that still can happen in the PCT but we see a pattern and start to really be able to see the different battles.

While his team might be fighting against relegation noone is blaming him as Neilson Powless is the new individual leader after scoring 289 pts this month. He moves past Bryan Coquard even though he got 124 pts himself this month. Caleb Ewan might not be a climber, but he climbs in the rankings going from 7th to 3rd after a good East Java.
Barnabas Peak is the only new rider in the top 10, rising aaaaaall the way from 11th and throwing Ruben Zepuntke out of the top 10.
Looking a bit farther down the rankings East Java made Kyeng Ho Min really climb going from 86 to 16. Whle also Suranga Ranaweera with a climb from 31 to 21 rises into the top 20. A smaller rise for Alberto Dainese who is the last new rider in top 20 getting into 13th place.

It's official, we're going down. I can't see us go above 12 PpRD.
Powless looking strong!
Thanks for the ranking update, Heine

Quiet month as expected and that should be the same for July as we only have 12rds there

Thanks for the nice update (not only from a personal perspective)! Two months back I said promotion could be in reach if we're still over 20 PpRD by now - and we are! Sitting in 2nd at this point of the season is just great, especially with the highest PpRD and fewest RDs used among all contenders. But that also means we have to keep scoring - and July has a lot of racing in it for us with some big scoring opportunities as well as some hit-or-miss races.
The promotion battle is still close and I wouldn't rule out anyone there down to Trans in 11th. And the danger zone starts right behind them with another nail-biting fight against relegation incoming.

Thanks Heine for the write-up!
Obviously thrilled sitting in 5th at this time of the year. I’m pretty sure it won’t last seeing the competition and our own squad.
I’m looking forward to the coming months, still a lot of teams in contention for promotion!

A month that I am not fully happy with to be completely honest but I think we're getting there.

Quite unexpected after another relatively underwhelming month to still be on course for promotion. Once again it was lead by some strong performances from Peak, and then limiting our losses elsewhere - slightly concerning how bad our scoring in hilly races has been though given the make-up of our squad.
Looking forward, and I think our chances will hinge on a) Peak continuing on his current PpRD (which would get him to 900) and b) maximising our scoring from the other races that aren't purely one terrain. Andorra, Maroc, Deutschland and the hilly classics are unlikely to be good to us, but van der Poel still has Benelux and Errazkin/Brunel have Lithuania, Denmark and South Africa to hopefully keep our scoring on track.
In terms of the competition, I still think three of the biggest threats are behind us currently (though Assa Abloy are already ahead on PPRD). There are enough flat and hilly races for Dainese/Ewan and Gesbert/Benoot/Ardila to score heavily, and MOL have the added benefit of Almeida. Hunter Valley don't necessarily have the same explosive potential but still have a really deep roster and should do well in some of the TT races to put them up there.
I think with the RDs in hand we should be able to overhaul Gjensidige and Lotto, but as ToA and East Java showed, they have the riders to score heavily if needed - one of the benefits of having fewer RDs left is they're less likely to have wasted ones on their schedule. Specialized may be catchable if they have more races like Suisse, but given how Quita has outscored my puncheurs I think they are likely to stay ahead.
Would be shocked if we caught Zalgiris with plenty of opportunities remaining for Lutsenko and a lot of TTs to come, and I think Ekoi are too far ahead with the RDs in hand - plus I suspect van der Poel's main rival in Benelux may turn out to be Kung, so even in our (theoretically) strongest remaining race they could outscore us. So with that all said, I think my best case scenario is probably 6th or 7th, but I'm usually wrong |

We started the month well but failed to keep the momentum. Especially Suisse seems like a race we could have scored a lot more. We drop one place in the ranking but it looks worse in PPRD, we need a gigantic end of the season or a massive PT walkout to get in promotion contention.
Thanks for the update!

We got a couple of good results at the end of the month, but we've still ended up in the bottom half of scoring and further adrift from safety.
Looks like we are CT bound, unfortunately that means we are likely to have to sell our stars one year before our next generation is training eligible which really sets our project back.

Another good month and another move up in the rankings! Happy with how we are going at the moment. Looking more likely we will promote but tbh I will be nervous all the way to the end of the season
Coquard just losing out on the lead in the PCT Individual rankings but definitely still in touch. Powless has had a fantastic season so far and if he continues he could be the saving grace for a struggling Colombini team!
It is going to be a very interesting fight for relegation thats for sure! Its also tightening up towards the top as well. Promotion is still anyone's at this stage. PCT this year is excellent in terms of action and tension!
Thanks Heine for the update!

A pretty good month for us, not so much because of how it went with two OK races but because the RDs even out without us falling too far. But definitely on the edge of the relegation battles and we will be right in it if Sosa makes a mess of Andorra and Maroc. South Africa always been good for Narvaez but with the new engine that could play out very differently
Lots of competition both at the top and the bottom with probably half the division at some risk of relegation and probably 8 or 9 teams with a shot at promotion.
Thanks for the update Heine.

Thanks for the update Heine, very much appreciated. And also thanks to TheUlamog for the last one, which I didn’t comment on.
In short, it’s been a boom-bust month, with California and East Java serving us some nice positive vibes, followed by duds at Berlin and USA Cycling Challenge. It is getting noticeably tighter down at the bottom, so very much hoping Faglum Karlsson and Bettiol/Lyu can keep consistent with their scoring and some other surprise packages can join them.
Now would be very nice time to get a totally undeserved, lucky win in the PCT this year, please make it happen MG gods!

Had some serious doubts about that Powless training at the beginning of the season, but we are happy to see an American rider top the PCT standings. Now just need to see Jorgenson join in the top 2, while Narvaez and Carapaz could pick up the pace representing Ecuador

Good month again. Slowly moving up the order. If we can keep being consistent and having consistent months we could potentially crack the top 10. Coquard is still doing well and with 4 races left (3 that he can score points in) we have some hope he can get back that 1st place while aiding us in moving up the rankings. Ras Tailteann, Baltic Chain Tour and Philadelphia International Championship should all be good points scoring for Coquard. He has the opportunity and ability to be able to win or take a large amount of points from all 3 of these races.
Really exciting second half of the season to go!

It looks like we should stay up for another season (fingers crossed). And a suprise promotion would be super awesome also. We dont have many races left this year, so beggers cant be choosers.
Good luck on the second half everybody!

Some improvement in June with good results in 3/4 races, but the terrible May-performance is still weighing heavily on our PpRD. Close fight for promotion still, but not feeling confident at all with our remaining calendar.
Thanks for the update!
