Last years winner Pedersen is seen as the biggest favorite, then Franceville winner Anderberg and always agressive Senechal. Will be interesting to see how this goes!
We have a lot of early attacks and we end up with a 12 man break. Ansons, Havik, Hofstetter, Kurianov, Biermans, Ballerini, Klahan, Budenieks, Van Den Berg (the weakest one), Ruiz, Sweeny (no, not Sydney you pigs!) and Osborne
They are however caught quickly, and might not have been mentioned if I didn't want to write a few bad jokes. After 40 km Carlsberg lead the catch
New attacks and 6 riders gets ahead. Malecki, Rubenis, Malacarne, Pickrell, Siddikov and Klahan. Some new guys, and some also in the first break. They are allowed a 2 minutes lead
However with 162 km left they are caught, this time Abrahamsen leads the peloton. The speed is quite high and the peloton splits up. Riders like Owen, Salzmann, Vermeersch, Stavrakakis, Stokbro and Ferreira on the wrong side. They do make it back, but bad placement can kill you here!
New attacks at Saint-Martin-sur-Ecaillon-Vertain. Stronger riders including Salzmann, Ferreira, Stavrakakis, Lampawog, Jansen, Resell and Rossi this time. Several of them where badly placed earlier and most likely wants to be up front on the road. Aker leading the peloton
They work well together and get a 5 min lead, 110 km left
It's down to 4.15 as an Aker- and Tinkoff-lead pack enters Arenberg. 125 riders left
The lead is only 2.12 as Lampawog leads the break out of Warlaing-Brillon

70 km left, break 1.30 in front and the party starts! Kasperkiewicz attacks!
He catches up with the break 10 km later, on Auchy-Lez-Orchies-Bersèe. 1 min in front of the other favorites. Is this craziness or genius from him? There are 64 riders left in the main group
Seems like craziness. They are all caught on the next cobble section, despite Kasperkiewicz taking the lead of the break. 59 riders together, with all the biggest names present
New attacks! It's Per and Gamper!
They are quickly caught and with 48 km left Kubis leads a 42 man main group. Biggest names not in the group are Kamyshev (worked a lot til now), Sulimov, Ulloa and Menten
Several groups falling behind. Among them one of the favorites, Vermeersch! 27 riders left at the front, 47 km left.
Bohli in his swiss jersey leads the chase and catches them. 40 km left
Van den Berg (the stronger one), Gamper (again) and Pedersen (!!!) attacks! Van der Hoorn takes the lead in the group and are riding to catch them
He does it! This could well end up as a big war of attrition!
New attacks! Per, Altur, Gerts and Teunissen. A strong and dangerous group
Bohli once again leads the chase for Pedersen
He catches them, and then new attacks start! Gerts again, followed by Pedersen, Senechal, Gamper, Siric and Van Hooydonck!
But they all end up together once again. This could be a perfect scenario for those more patient. Still 27 riders left. Riders like Vermeersch, Owen and Kamyshev missing
Pedersen just riders away! He has attacked several times already, but he looks so strong! 28 km left
He gets 25 seconds!
Van den Berg leads the chase. 17 riders left. Spengler, Kortsidakis, Bohli, Van der Hoorn, Kubis and others can't keep up anymore
Pedersen is caught heading into Camphin-en-Pèvele
Ovsyannikov, Van den Berg, Teunissen, Neilands and Tiller loosing contact. The pace and cobbles are really sapping the legs of the riders now!
Jacobs the next victim. He is so exhausted he nearly riders into a the brick wall
More favorites loosing contact with the front. Anderberg, Gamper, Van Hooydonck and Siric can't keep up!
Le Carrefeur de L'Arbre really killing the group. Rutsch, Kasperkiewicz and Per the next victims
On Gruson Girmay, Senechal and Altur has to let go
Gerts is the last one able to follow Pedersen, but the dane is just so strong today and rides away from Gerts aswell! He's alone at the front with 15 km left
Situation: Pedersen -> 20 seconds to Gerts -> 9 seconds to Altur -> 15 seconds to Girmay and Senechal -> 13 seconds to Per -> 10 seconds to Rutsch and Kasperkiewicz -> 8 seconds to Van Hooydonck and Siric -> 13 seconds to Anderberg and Gamper
Pedersen alone in front with 37 seconds with 10 km to go. A group is starting to form behind him
With 7,5 km left his lead is up to 42 seconds. Gerts is the closest one with Altur right in front of Girmay, Senechal, Per, Kasperkiewicz, Van Hooydonck and Siric
Pedersen enters the velodrome alone
Gerts still a tiny bit in front of the others
Rutsch, Anderberg and Gamper 41 seconds behind the group, going to have to fight for top 10
Pedersen with a well deserved win! Important points for Grieg-Maersk in their fight against relegation.
Gerts is caught and we have a sprint for 2nd
It's between Per and Siric
Siric takes it! Per 3rd and Kasperkiewicz 4th.
Girmay takes 5th, Van Hooydonck 6th, Gerts with a dissapointing 7th after fighting for so long. Altur 8th and Senechal 9th.
Rutsch manages the last top 10 spot. Anderberg dissapointed in 11th and an active Gamper in 12th.
To honor the riders who might not be the best at this terrain but still battles with what they got we have Herrera as the last finisher, over 1 hours and 30 min behind the winner
Who is of course Pedersen! Noone else was at his level today! Well deserved!
