Prasad not claiming any bonus seconds can be a good thing for Romo’s chances on the hilly stages. Hopefully he can make use of this opportunity! |

Guess the sprint started too early for Farantakis. Yet, it’s not good that he can’t beat his own leadout. Have seen that quite a lot this season.

Uneventful start for us, the next days seem more important for Lopez.

Looks like another empty race for us if even stage 1 was for the puncheurs.

Lovely to see the tribe so actvie. Cepeda and Kipkemboi are really good support for Van Niekerk

Sucks that we only had Kron in the first group. All those hilly stages in Paris Nice that produces no gaps, but in this one we lost both Gerts and Remco.

As a comment here, the minions tribe catching the break was my favorite moment of the race. I laughed out at the office (yeah, I raced it at work :redface

Much better than feared. Kinoshita around what we could expect, and our sprinters the Only riders dropping from the first groups.
We have 3 riders in the front group in the s.t. as the best not getting bonus seconds. But all of them are at the very back of that group, getting almost no points, unless they move forward in the next stage.
Seems very much like a lottery if this race will be good, decent or bad.

Thank you for the report, Heine!
That is most definitely our first big fail this season, with Romo being our best rider at 5+ minutes well outside the top 100. We move on
Cool battle up front with lots of attacks and fun racing. Pidcock doing Pidcock things at the end. It is rare an acceleration is that visible in a single screenshot, but that looked sensational! Congratulations, jandal |

While not succesful, i think we played the attacks perfectly. Calmejane with the earlier move to put pressure on others and then Lopez with good timing on his attack in the final phase of the race. Cant fault them for trying if the attempt looks as promising as this. Now, we need a strong stage 3 which was always going to be crucial here.
Congrats jandal, always love me some nice Pidcock action

Nice to see Aranburu try a couple of times and then finish in the first group. About the most we could hope for here, especially when a bunch of similar or better puncheurs fell behind. Don't think tomorrow suits him better in terms of difficulty, but it's a short stage, so we'll see.

MVD pulling out another great result in a stacked field! Those bonus seconds would've been quite useful but can't complain at all with 4th. The next stage will be harder for sure. Hoping we can keep him safe and at the front.
Congrats to jandal, Pidcock seems to have fully woken up now Thanks for the report!

You’re in for a positive surprise if you check the GC list, then! |

Pidcock has played this pretty perfectly so far. Great victory today and nice to see a sign that the positions can change during a reduced sprint in this PCM edition, even if it might be a rare thing Big day tomorrow to defend that GC lead, the terrain today and the multitude of Minions on the front helped neutralise the attacks from the major puncheurs but tomorrow will be much harder. Excited to see it, as Abhi put it Pidcock has truly woken up now after a disappointing season start!

Tense fight! Must say it is a top 6 that makes a ton of sense seeing how the stages unfolded and ended. Congratulations on the GC, ryant! Obvious disappointments behind that top 5 with riders and teams underperforming expectations, but the field is stacked.
For Romo and our team, I am sure jt’s hype of him will be slightly less after this race
Also thank you for the reports, Heine. |

I get it that Gerts is the stronger sprinter, but having the guy who is out of the GC fight for bonus seconds is pretty stupid. It's a decent result for Kron in the end, but some bonus seconda today would have been absolute gold.
The race also marks a "dark" chapter in Remco's season. It's not only by far his worst result but also the first white jersey he misses out on.
Thanks for the reports and congrats ryant!

Can’t be too unhappy with this result. 9th is around what I could have hoped for, and some OK’ish depth. Nothing that amounts to Big points though.

Stage 2 without any bonus seconds was not on my card. He looked way stronger than he performed in the end. Plus stage 3 with only coming in 10th and tiny bonus seconds Vansevenant couldn`t get past 13th GC which is way too less.
Should have been much closer to Pidcock and ahead of Lopez/Niekerk/Kinoshita seeing the outcome of the finishes.
That said, good to see the profile still give a mix with Yates, Demare, Ackermann in hte mix and even Groves.
Not the best race scoring wise clearly but luckily only 3 rd.
Thanks for the report and congrats to all winners. |
