Only 5 races this month as the Continental Tour starts for the season we saw the team mostly racing in Australia with a couple of trips to the Americas.
As usual we started off the season at the Down Under Classic as part of a triple header and as with last season a CT team scores big. Last season Kennett scored 61pt and this season it was Ryan Gibbons getting 98pt and a strong start for Binachi Enel . Air New Zealand also grabbed 5pts in a good start to their season from Llucie De Marigny-Lagesse . Glanbia where the only other representative but scored 0pt.
Classico San Jose was next and Fausto Masnada started his season off strong taking the win for pre season title favourites Kraftwerk Man Machine with Peter Sagan and Gianni Moscon rounding out the podium all the above teams managed a 30pt plus RD with two others joining them in Podium Ambition and IncaLine Pro Cycling the latter showing real depth with 4 points scorers in the opening hilly classic of the season.
The next Journey for the season was the Australian Curtain raiser in the Tour Down Under. Bianchi Enel hot start in Australia continued with stage win Rok Korosec and a good GC Gianni Moscon giving them 94pts a massive 71pts more then the 2nd best scorers in Glanbia who had Kevin McCambridge and his epic KOM raid to thank for all of their 23pts. Podium Ambition had some good stage results from Christopher Lagane who scored all 22pt they managed while Parmalat - Ecopetrol, Kone-Nordea scored minor points, Kraftwerk Man Machine and SEE Turtles scored the dreaded 0pts.
Off to Juarez and a HC tour next only Ethiopian Airlines and IncaLine Pro Cycling were present here and both scored some points Madushanka Perera had a solid GC showing for 50pts a more then healthy total for 5 race days and IncaLine Pro Cycling continued there team focused scoring with 3 riders adding 5-6pts to give them 16pts for their 5 days work.
Fianlly the Great Ocean Road Classic and final Australia leg for January. Cees Bol made up for Kraftwerk Man Machine scoring low in TDU by grabbing 20pt in the sprint finish while Matti Manninen also scored 10pts as the team leader of Kone-Nordea got his season underway. Euskadi-Murias and Glanbia scoring the dreaded 0pt

37 riders only scoring so far and if anyone had Ryan Gibbons as a possible top scorer in the CT this season after getting 98pts off 2 racedays please post the EuroMillions lottery numbers below for us all. The South African is followed in the standings by Bianchi's Leader? Gianni Moscon who is already proving this years game suits him a lot more then previous version being competitive at C1 level to start the season. Madushanka Perera strong GC at Juarez and Fausto Masnada win at San Jose come next followed by Christopher Lagane proving good planning can overcome stamina issues in certain situations this year rounding out the top 5 at this early stage.
Spoiler Finally one big thank you to Fabianski who after doing these reports for years announced the closure of Jura-Giants from next season, thank you for all the time spent on these in the past you will be missed

Great start for your team mate! Way to smash it into everyones faces
Could you, by any chance, add the total points column for the lazy bastards like myself?

Apologies got deleted somehow in the wall of text
Very hard to do a report this month without talking about my team so apologies if it feels to Bianchi to the rest of CT hopefully in the months to come the points are more spread out |

Thanks for a great recap jt!
Doesn't look good for us, but we already knew we would struggle to compete for 5th place.
Thanks a lot jt, really appreciated! |

Absolutely cracking start to the season, although it's almost entirely the result of Perera sneaking a podium stage finish and as a result a decent GC on the last day of Juarez - otherwise we would be much more mid-table, where I expect us to end up once the heavy hitters like Meintjes start terrorising the division. Nevertheless, delighted with that PpRD and hopefully we can keep that momentum going.
Congrats also to Gibbons, the greedy prick, on his beast month. Could have stayed home in Africa but he just had to refuse my extremely fair offers thank god Perera has performed almost as well, my head would be on mars otherwise.

Cool! That's the end of the season right? No more races, points are finalised. Top5 ranking, Top5 rider. All good. Nothing more. End of. See you in the off season.

What a month for the Turtles!! Zero points, but we wore an extra jersey, so that has to count for something right?!?
Congrats to all who found success in January, we hope to join you in February with at least one point.

Thanks for the update jt.
Bianchi had a flying start and I think they could keep it up all the way.
Very happy to see Masnada and Bol scoring but we need to cut out the zero pointers.

Thanks for doing the rankings this time around JT (and to Fabianski for doing it before)! Kinda sad to see us in the back again, but with only 2 races done its not too suprising either. At least we are not last (I'm coming for your ass Jasper)
cant wait to see the rest of the season! |
