General Transfer Discussion 2025

No more Peruvians worth signing, so IncaLine Pro Cycling makes the trip to Sweden. There they find a possibly decent CT sprinter in Emil Andersson. The 32 year old will never live up to race at his maximum potential, but at least this season he can show the non-believers they were wrong all this time.

Securing a 77 rated climber is not meant for everyone, but it is for Parmalat - Ecopetrol. They can now announce the signing of Pedro Pablo Pereyra, as the 32 year old Argentinian will race the final year in his prime in CT. Will he be a leader or a domestique? Maybe both.

Staying with Colombian co-sponsors now, as it's up to Peugeot - Bancolombia. They pick a legendary CT rider in Luke Keough. The previously strong sprinter with a great prologue did not get a contract extension at SEE Turtles, but hopes to prove the haters wrong with a final bang of a season.

And we're already at the final draft pick! Kone-Nordea ends like they started, with a talent. The 22 year old Filipino talent John Patrick Pagtalunan could develop in a decent lead-out rider. Another fun fact: 117 out of 118 22 year olds did now receive a (stag) contract his year. Silas Koech is the only one who will stay home all season, you do have to feel a bit sorry for the German.

Would be cool if Emil maxes the same year he declines. Cruel but fascinating. Not sure it's possible in CT though.

Not sure whether almost all talents receiving a stag contract is a sign of good deflation or just fewer talents being added, but cool in any case!

Some nice picks in the draft but also some not so nice aha. Interesting to see riders like Keough not being picked up by a team before the draft but having Keough on a free contract will be good.

Thanks for the draft! Keen to see how all these riders end up in the future seasons!

That was fun. Transfer season I mean. At least half my riders will decline next season, so I guess it will be busy next year for me.

Very satisfied with getting my first and third choices in the draft.

Now I just look forward to start racing.

Couldnt be there for the rest of the draft so all remaining comments in one post:

- Sangulin: love it. Great allrounder, should be especially good on the hilly cobbles and overall very useful
- Gougeard: pretty solid allrounder, i like him
- Stroll: similar to Tusveld: decent domestique for stage races
- Shaw: There are a few declining riders i would have picked before him but solid domestique and younger, better & closer to the scandinavian market than most other options
- Mager + Koch: Two former Evonik guys from our first seasons. Mager is a nice domestique and Koch at least usable on a few terrains although i dont think he is good enough to be worth a contract.
- Warbasse: still looks alright
- Hagen: Solely picked for nationality reasons. A much weaker version of Shaw, should have retired by now.
- Mannion: one decline too many. must be a managers favourite to bring back because his stats dont justify it anymore
- zubov: i dont see it. There are far better cobblers still around imo.
- Senyenov: dont love it, dont hate it. A lot of very similar high hill, not too much everywhere else riders still around. The hope has to be that MM helps them perform a bit better than previously. might be okay.
- Van Heerden: solid domestique, just makes sense for them
- Dieteren: one of the better one dimensional puncheurs left. lack of sp/acc makes him more of a domestique to me but still a pretty good pickup at this point
- Livyns: one of my favourite picks in the draft. similar to sangulin or a mini marzuki. i like him
- Jung: cant hate on a team gambling on one dimensional puncheurs but no fan of him
- Pereyra: solid domestique for the toughest mountain stages. dont love him but the alternatives dont look better either
- Keogh: best prologue rider remaining and a small chance at getting sth from a sprint. the prologue stat alone makes this a worthy pick.

And my takes for the unmaxed ones:

*stats listed are maxed stats incl. first decline if he were to max this year

- Pelayo Sanchez: looks solid.
- Nunes: As highlighted before the draft: My favourite draftpick. Most upside of them all, even if only very shortterm.
- Van Hautegem: Was one of my prefered stagiaire-eligible options not signed yet. Getting drafted is even better for him.
- Postma: Really interesting primary stats but weak energy stats. Unsure what i think about him but an intriguing draftpick
- Vera Hernandez: his current stats look like there should be some nice paths but i cant find any that i like. maybe best as a future break hunter on ct level?
- Verre: can develop into a solid puncheur domestique.
- Wilksch: Local, young and pretty strong: One of my absolute favourite picks
- Andersson: One of the better sprinters left. Dont trust him to perform but wouldnt be shocked if he can get some odd results somewhere.
- Pagtalunan: young, not a terrible sprinter once the current mass of 31-35 year old sprinters declined, he could get a few chances.

Personally, i think that is a sign that more talents should be added. Like adding another lvl1 peruvian that maxes at 73hi 71mo or so wouldnt hurt. if a team wants to build up their nations with those questionable options, they would have the chance to do so.

I'd love to have more Sammarinese added, even if they end up similar to Putti, Menicucci or Maccagli I'll find ways to make them work, actually thinking about it if they were added next season they'd max as those 3 start declining.

Yeah, maybe a good point. I wouldn't mind those kinds of riders being added.

When picking 29yo unmaxed riders as your best options, you know it's a struggle. But free riders are free so there's no loss from them.
CT draft is definitely still a brilliant concept though! And some, as always, interesting picks made by some managers and some smartly targeting solid domestiques on the cheap.

I think it was a very deep class - I signed a 77 max TTer as my 3rd stag, not sure I would have found that in prior seasons.

Great to see McCormick old boys Warbasse and Keough get rides.

Thanks to Nemo for running and Knockout for the analysis.

You also committed the worst crime of the window by not signing McCormick to McCormick

Glad I could scoop up two out of my top three choices! The team needed some more non-Japanese riders tbh. With Sanchez I can actually get a decent climber support for cheap for the next few seasons. Thanks for the reporting guys!
