[PT] Aker - MOT | 2025

Very happy to see Valter taking a paycut and being very available. Fantastic

Valter, Novak and Groenewegen all taking a pay cut seems like a best case scenario for you. A pay raise for Peak also has to be warranted after two successes at the best race in the world. And from our perspective, a pay raise for a prologue specialist will always be acceptable.

Lots of room to figure out what's best for this upcoming season!

A team in a super intriguing position moving into the off season. With a bunch of wage cuts as well as De Lie not being a super big issue for you cap wise and he might even chip in himself with some scoring should you hold onto him and not loan him out this year.

Heine
You got a really nice squad, and a great future rider in De Lie. Will be really interesting to see him, specially after a bit of training. The world might not be ready for a new Bewley!

Not many rosters where top to bottom I hope to see some kind of availability, even if it doesn't make sense for my team they're just always cool riders I'd love to have, and your evergreen STA/RES columns are always lovely.

Nice work with the small cuts at the top. Think there might have been a bit more in there for De Lie (without knowing if that was a R1 offer or not) but not too much so that's a very solid effort too. Would love to hear some tips on how you finish 6th while signing a €600k+ talent - asking for a friend circa 2021 Pfft Scary that you'll just be able to bring him up now while still being one of the top teams.

Actually a big fan of his puncheur path. You should look into it Pfft

I think the stage racer path works on his biggest weaknesses...

If you were going to ignore our sound talent development advice I'm glad you at least went sprinter... until Project Bewley begins I'm sure Pfft

I second this, though I suspect even if the availability is there the chances of me affording some of the quality on display here are quite slim Pfft

Interested to see how you approach this transfer season, and whether you attempt to move back into title contention, or add another top talent alongside De Lie?

kandesbunzler26
After you've already finished this high last season your team should only get better with the cap space freed in renewals. And though I'll always envy you de Lie I'm curious to see what he'll do when in his prime!

@quadsas: The paycut is indeed nice. The availability I'm not so sure about Grin

@seancoll: Agree both Peak and Kragh were due a pay rise after their fantastic seasons. Especially Kragh, who is a very consistent points scorer in the PT. With his current wage, he should still be great value as a leader for us, at least I hope so!

@whitejersey: Agree on De Lie's wage with our current setup. Though, if we want to mix it up, I suspect we'll need to be creative, as his wage will be tricky to handle if we want to bring in new riders we can expect more than 150 points from. Haven't really decided at all though which path we want to take this transfer season!

@Heine: There will always only be one Bewley, I'm afraid, but yeah, the excitement of having the opportunity to make him great in both sprints and on the cobbles with lots of training, was the main reason I went deep for him last transfer season. We shall see if we can make the dream come true, but that will be several seasons ahead Grin Pfft

@jandal7: Very much agree on De Lie's wage. Decided to play it super safe, so definitely expect I went potentially 35k or slightly less above what might have been possible. I'll never know, though! The 6th place and the whole season really was great, and far above expectations, and I was relieved quite early on when it became clear we would stay clear of the battle to avoid relegation Pfft

@jph27: That's a very, very good question! And admittedly one I haven't been able to answer myself so far, after having seen the sensational talents added. Suddenly the big investment in De Lie last transfer season felt like a very dubious decision Pfft If I try to go another talent, I'm not sure I'm able to survive in the PT, which could be very challenging for what is to come in the future. I'm fairly sure I won't actively chase riders to become a title contender. It will be more of a build the team for the future, I hope, as Valter and a future De Lie hopefully should give me a lot to build on for many years to come.

@kandesbunzler26: On paper I agree, but quite a lot of those points last season doesn't feel like guaranteed points at all, see AHJ's and Peak's sensational Tour de France performances Pfft Yeah, De Lie definitely is a project, I just hope I will be able to complete it as I hoped and kind of planned for when deciding on going all in on him last season.

baseballlover312
Some great paycuts at the top, though SKA continues to ask for his due! Ultimately De Lie will be the biggest cap relief even though he's still expensive. If you were able to work everything out with him making nearly 700k, it only gets easier from here.

Very good renewals. You have the freedom to either strengthen the team or go for another big talent. Either way you'll have a scary team sooner or later that will be challenging for the title Smile

@bbl: And I still think he's considerably underpaid! Grin

@redordead: Fingers crossed you are right regarding the future! For the decision to go for a big talent or not, I suspect the early hours of the transfer season will kind of force my hand Smile

Availability post

Everyone knows that a transfer season for Aker - MOT usually means a lot of stuff happening, and riders moving in and out, and maybe even both. This season could be just the same, or we might calm down and keep our core, at least regarding our leaders. Having said that, it's also the year were we might part ways with several profilic riders, like Kragh, Novak, Peak, Bagioli and maybe even Groenewegen. It will all depend on what kind of ideas we have that might or might not come to life. And who knows for the other top riders in the team, after all none are seen as untouchable, but we won't hide our satisfaction seeing how well both Valter and Anderberg performed last season as our new leaders.

Hmm... some tempting stuff there. Reunion of two Hungarian sprinters? Getting a successor for declining Gabby? We'll see if we can fit something in this year, guess we're due a deal after last year's Wisniowski shenanigans Pfft

Surely this isn't the year SKA finally joins his brother...

SKA potentially being available is interesting - one of those riders I could never imagine riding in another team's colours. Valter and Anderberg not being an outright 'no' though is lovely Smile

Guess you are not looking at making too many changes to the team with the availability list!

As always potentially a lot of things going on in the upcoming transfers for you Smile

Surprised to see Novak as a potential rider for sale. Peak is also a really cool rider, who really should be looking for a team that want to invest in training him, as he could become a very very good sprinter.

Also interesting to see Kragh Andersen as a maybe. Would be fun to see him join forces with his brother - or maybe team up with some greeks Wink

@knockout: After so many transfer seasons and chats about a certain rider, I'm sure I have no idea who you might have in mind Pfft

@bbl: Looking forward to have you come knocking!

@redordead: That can definitely happen, seeing your availability post! Curious to see if we can find something that works for both.

@Eden95: Kragh is definitely one that can leave, admittedly also depending on other stuff that happen/doesn't happen.

@Abhi: My first thought is the same, but who knows what might happen if things start to move... Pfft

@SotD: Looking forward to see what your interest might lead to! Novak is tricky. His GC rides were a total failure, but his stage hunting was brilliant, resulting in some nice points overall.
