World Championships - U23 Road Race

It’s the penultimate event, with the young guns fighting for glory here in Scotland. There’s a bunch of favorites. Who’s yours ?

We come ive as the riders finish the first circuit. 12 men ride ahead : Heinrich (GER), Iradukunda (AFR), Treize (OCE), Lund Andresen (DEN), Alben (ASI), Wade (IRL), Madsen (NOR), Keup (GER), Agirrebeitia (ESP), Enggaard (DEN), Arenas Rodriguez (AME) and Paret-Peintre (FRA).

4 minutes behind, Belgium, USA and New Zealand are the teams leading the peloton, which loses more and more men are Europa B is working too. 120 km left.

Big attack in the penultimate climb ! Gloag (EUR) uses Simmons (USA) effort to get a sizeable gap on a 38 men favorites group. Nys (BEL) and Selimovic (EUR) are the first of the favorites to be dropped.

10 km left for Gloag. He has 20 seconds on Rodriguez (ESP) and 33 seconds on a 20 men group.

When they’re caught, Hayter (EUR) immediately attacks. Nobody commits to the chase and he rides away ! 40 seconds under the red kyte.
