There was a lot of discussion regarding the current promotion/relegation system in the ManGame towards the end of last season. To resolve this, and to have a stable system for future seasons, we are setting up this poll to come to a decision. Please vote for your preferred option, the details of which are explained below:
1) Continue with same system - The current system involves five teams promoting from PCT and CT, to PT and PCT respectively, and five teams relegating from PT and PCT, to PCT and CT respectively. Beyond this, if any team disbands in a higher division, one team from each of the lower divisions gets promoted to the next higher division.
2) Capped disband promotions - In this system, the number of assured promotions from PCT and CT will remain as 5. Beyond this, a specific number of disband promotions will be allowed from a lower division (for example, till 8th from PCT and till 10th from CT), after which the highest ranked relegating team (5 relegating teams by default) will be saved from the next higher division. In this example, if there are 3 disbands from PT, teams ranked till 8th in PCT would get promoted. However, in case there are 5 disbands from PT, teams ranked till 8th in PCT will be promoted but teams ranked 18th and 19th in PT will be saved.
3) One up - one saved - In this system, the number of assured promotions from PCT and CT will remain as 5. Beyond this, for the first disband from a higher division, the 6th team from the next division will be promoted. However, for the second disbanding team, the team ranked 5th last in the higher division will be saved (5 relegating teams by default). For example, if there are 3 disbands from PT, the 6th ranked team from PCT will be promoted first, then the 18th ranked team will be saved from PT, and then the 7th ranked team from PCT will be promoted, and so on for further disbands.
The deadline for casting your vote is 31st July, Daily Time. The result of this voting will be used as the promotion/relegation system for the future.
Please post in this thread for any questions or opinions. |

I do want to say it again here, Option 1 - The current system, does have precedence for the MGCUI to step in and save teams from relegation, in the case where we are both a fair way down the next division (i.e. 10th place+) AND there is a significant disparity in activity between the two teams in favour of the team in relegation.
It's an incredibly rare circumstance, but potentially one worth either codifying, as it's one of the very few cases where activity can be genuinely positively rewarded in the MG.
__________
Option 2 I don't like. Option 3 I don't like.
As one of, if not the most, relegated managers - if you finish in the relegation spots you go down. [Note the above extremely fringe case i already mentioned].
Equally, if there are so many disbands we're down to 10th in the lower division, well great job for those managers! It helps drive the importance of every single position and provides an extra motivation.
It's clear the sizes of the PT and PCT are pretty fixed, so lets keep them topped up. Then if the CT looks worryingly small there are other ways to address that (better recruiting, 2nd teams as we've had before, and beyond).

Voted for #2 and think it makes the most sense, but would prefer #1 to #3 I think.

I think #2 & #3 might be in conflict - or that more people would vote for #3 if #2 wasn't an option if that makes sense. Nevertheless, I like that we got to vote on the matter.

I don't seem to be able to vote - I think my profile mightn't be tagged as MG manager?

Indeed, you're not in the Man-Game Managers group (anymore)... Iirc Abhi did some cleanup and then forgot to add you back.

Yeah I agree with this, I haven't voted yet and might lean to #1, but I can see when I log out that the people voting for a system where teams can be saved (#2 + #3) is beating people voting for a system where they can't (#1), even if #1 is the individual leading option. I understand that some people who would vote for #2 would hate #3 (me included if I did) and vice versa so it's good to separate them because they wouldn't all support each other. I guess I don't know what to suggest but there is surely a bit of nuance needed.
However I also do agree that it's good to put it to a vote, and ties into a larger theme of the transparency of this off-season which I really appreciate - much love and thanks to the staff team you're doing an awesome job

We will leave this open for another day although it looks like status quo is winning out. |

This is done so we are sticking with the status quo for 2025. Since the change vote may have been split by the two options we will put it back up after this season with only one change option for a possible change for 2026.
