[ATTENTION] Off season changes to watch out for!
AbhishekLFC
There are some changes to the way off season tasks will be handled going ahead. Please read on for a short explanation on each. More detailed explanations for each task and the changes will be included in their respective threads.

PTHC and HC Band Selections
Applicable for PT and PCT
Band selections will no longer be done via PMs. It will be done via a survey that you need to fill in. This will make the consolidation and priority management easier for the admin team. PTHC bands will also not have a start date and reverse timer as in the past years but something slightly different. More details will be shared in the band selection thread.

Planners
Applicable for all divisions
Planners will now need to be generated by each manager for their teams, based on filling in certain fields in a new consolidated excel. The planner will be auto generated in the same excel on filling in the correct details. There will be a validation done by the MG Admins. The details will be explained when the planners are out.

C1/C2 Selections
Applicable for PCT and CT
The concept remains the same with race selections accompanied by priorities and backup choices but there is a new file that will be used for this. There will also be an output generated by this file which needs to be fed into the Planners for PCT and CT teams (not required for PT teams).

FAs (during transfers)
Applicable to all teams
FA bidding (including Stagiares) will take place on a separate portal (web page) created just for this purpose. This was decided to prevent Daily from crashing like last year during transfers. Deals, Loan Deals, Sackings and Adverts will remain on the forum. FA bidding on sacked riders will also remain on the forum. A guide doc with the features of the transfer portal will be shared in the coming days for everyone to get familiar with it. Transfer rules will be updated accordingly.

All these are particularly more to be noted by existing managers because we are now used to old methods of operation. This is relevant for new managers too, but everything is essentially new to them!

Sounds good. I don’t think the bidding on a sacked rider in the forum is a good decision though. No need to have an FA thread just for that.

I think its mostly a logistical issue since the free agency tool will only show FA riders and not contracted riders so you would either need to program and test sackings there as well or have someone update the data as soon as possible to allow bidding on these sacked riders.

Considering how few riders are sacked, it is imo the best decision from a purely pragmatical POV.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Not sure how I feel about having trades and FA's on entirely separate platforms, but I guess if the site is this broken down there's no other way. Just unfortunate.

Ahh I thought we were doing FA biddings normally, just on another site.

Makes sense to do it like that then.

I think the mechanism of implementing the trade functionality is a bit more sophisticated as trades include a combination of money or rider(s). FA bids are at least more straightforward and easy to implement.

I think the deals/loans as well as sacked riders bidding can be implemented on the portal, but IMO this should be tested for an extended period of time before being deployed. It's not impossible by any stretch, but we need to be ensured that it would work properly.

Those are my 2 cents.

I'm sure if this season goes smoothly then we can ask the questions about expanding it but this should be a lot more stable than the forum and I think a lot of transfer deals were already getting discussed off site before being posted here anyway so should definitely help avoid crashing the site during transfers.

PTHC and HC Band Selections - Wait and see I guess. I thought the previous system wasn't unfair.

Planners - I'm not that good with excel, so I hope it's pretty straightforward

C1/C2 Selections - Good to read it won't be a problem for me this year

FAs (during transfers) - While I'm sure there's a perfectly reasonable technical explanation for this, I really don't understand why we're doing this. Either get the current site to work, either move all of pcmdaily to the new site.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Similar thoughts about band selection. However, if you're unlucky to be in the wrong timezone (and at work, or sleeping) when submission starts, it's still a bit unfair. Wonder how it will be done now, if there still are any tie-breakers, or if there will be dice rolls.

On the planners, I (and surely some others as well) can definitely help out if that's an issue. Advantage with PT planner is that it's really straightforward, just need to pick the right PTHC bands/races.

And on the FA thing, I already stated my opinion on this. I don't like the idea to offload part (or all) of transfers to a different platform - but let's be honest, better have some additional tool rather than the forum being down. Don't think we could move all of Daily there; as far as I understand, it's just a web application for transfers (or just FAs for now), and not a new forum software.
As far as I know, some load testing was done on the tool, so hopefully it will really be stable. And bug-free, most importantly Pfft

Excel will be very straightforward on planners, will also release very early so people will have plenty of time. On band priorities - previous system wasn't terrible but given a lot of managers have more on their plates now we thought a little more flexibility might make sense.

Just from doing those the last couple years manually, I can basically confirm, that no time zone issues or a matter of seconds ever really changed the choices.

Those, that missed out on their top3 choices usually were days late. Wink

RE: Planner and Selections:

I was trialed to test out the new file and it is super nice and works as intended and should give people plenty of freedom to do a lot of planning during transfers even before final races comfirmations come through.
